I use this stuff all the time for a good brush clean even during long paint sessions not just at the end to avoid paint build up, for dry paint in the feral I use airbrush cleaner as it dissolves acrylic like magic especially good for my favoured GW Contrast Paints. Videos like this would have helped me so much when I was starting out......if only the internet had been invented back then :D

"The Masters" Brush Cleaner I always thought it was for oil paint coated brushes would never of thought it could be used for acrylic paint......Learnt something new.
@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I noticed that now as I do oil painting in my spare time and it was recommended just assumed it was for oil paint only lol as you tend to get products specific only to a spercific type of paint. Defo need to get a pot of this stuff lol
Handy tip for brush shape restoration. Leave a little soap on the bristles and form it into the original shape for a day or 2.. works amazingly to restore your brushes
I bought this about a year ago and spent probably a whole weekend cleaning brushes. LOL. Though, I did then use a paint stripper (for stripping paint from miniatures) to clean out some brushes that were too stubborn for the brush cleaner (and then used the brush cleaner to get them looking nice again). It has definitely improved for how long I can keep using older brushes. Great video!
Good review. Saw a top-tip on an water-colour painting channel about reforming a tip on your brush. It really works. I know the general advice is to use the crease of your hand. And that in practice most people use their mouths. But this tip was, after general rinsing/specific cleaning, to hold your brush by the end and then whack it against the meat on the side of your other hand a few times - make contact where the ferrule and handle join at the thickest part. Water is driven out and the bristles drawn together into a perfect tip. You also get to see any straggling bristles standing out - easy to trim off with your sprue cutters. Works best with round brushes; but I do it all the time now. Even works with thin paint on the brush if you’re doing some precise layered glazes - perfect tip and no need to wick off excess.

I need some of that for my wife, she's looking a bit tired and abused lately. Shame I didn't know a product like this existed, I recently chucked most of my "starter set" brushes away as they were in a woeful state.
Salutations! Thank you for the review. I basically agree with you and the fellow commenters that Masters is a great product. However, for tougher jobs I rely on Pink Soap-although I've never tried it on enamel paints.
Ha. To a painter of my calibre, the whole world is my canvas. Even the brushes. It's mainly from putting brushes down to fiddle with the camera, and then they roll across the palette paper. That, and getting paint on my thumb from opening GW paint pots.

I used the most abused brush I could find. This brush cleaner is genuinely excellent.

The tub says you can use it for oil paint, watercolour, acrylic and stains.

Absolutely. I may not be clear in my explanation but I do mention soaping and shaping for restoration at 3:20 in the video.

It's not a cheap product, but it pays its way as you don't have to replace brushes so often. I'm not particularly careful with my brushes.

Hi, I just ordered a pot of this as my brushes are in poor state, can I ask how long you left it until you cleaned your base brush?
Just a few minutes each time. If you go to the General Pencil website they have full instructions you can follow for cleaning or restoring brushes.
