  • In this video, I show and explain the different types of fasteners for decks. Regular deck screws certainly have their uses, but to build a deck properly you'll need a full understanding of different types of fasteners, some of which are much larger and stronger than deck screws. Lag screws, carriage bolts and structural screws are the three different types of fasteners for decks I'll be discussing in this video.

    It should be noted that in the last few years structual screws have come down in price enough to be quite a bit cheaper than the larger hot dipped galvanized hardware.
