- This video was filmed on September 4th, 2021. In this video I visit The Italian Market which’s located on S. 9th St. in South Philadelphia, Pa. The Italian Market began in the mid-to-late 1880’s when Italian immigrant Antonio Palumbo started a boarding house in the neighborhood for other Italians. Businesses sprang up afterwards to serve the growing community. Alien market is America’s oldest continuously operating outdoor market edit in the Passyunk Square community of South Philadelphia. Italian market is a collection of nearly 200 businesses situated between two public parks and two beautiful churches. The market, which spans approximately 10 blocks, features curb carts, grocery shops, cafés, restaurants, bakeries, cheese shops, butcher shops and more. Enjoy!

awesome video, as always! i can’t believe the work you do without a go pro! i haven’t been to philly in years, but i always made sure to go to geno’s and cannuli’s! i can’t remember the name of the place there, the guy would crush oreos and put them in ice cream! i still can see him with his rolling pin on a marble counter. he sold the idea for millions and now we all have cookies & cream ice cream everywhere! that was quite a thing before the variety of ice cream flavors we have now:) perfect musical accompaniment and yeah! peace! love! and pink floyd!

@@mafiagang20my family lived in highlandtown on S.bouldin St. But my grandparents lived on High St. In little Italy, You were one street over I think.
@@mafiagang20Do you know part of Italy or Sicily your family came from? My great grandparents came from Genoa it seems like most of the Italians in Baltimores came from northern Italy which is unique most of the other cities the Italian Americans are mostly from southern Italy or Sicily.
@@JimD410 nice ! My family is Sicilian and Romano ..so for the most part southern roots on my side…I worked at cafe Gia and ciao Bella for awhile they were Sicilian ..but that’s interesting I didn’t know about the northern roots in the city

In 1999 I went to paramedic school in Philly. The first time I went to Pat's, when I was done eating, I went to Geno's and ordered another steak and ate that one too. They were different but both very good. I gained so much weight back then!

Philadelphia like 3rd worst dirtiest city after Baltimore and Detroit. Philadelphia used to be nice and clean back in 80 and 90 then Italian moved different states or died
Too dangerous there. Too many guns in circulation. Better to save your money and go to Italy. Much safer, nobody being shot at. America as a whole is not the place to be. I know I won't get any likes but if you are wise and smart then you know what im talking about.

I just understand that high crime in the USA is an issue and it is unfortunate. Otherwise it would be a beautiful country to visit. I live in Europe and crime is barely noticeable in most places, it is a freedom that is priceless.
I am also black so there is that, I don't want to pay to travel there to be racially harassed or shot by police for no reason. So I will stay here where stuff like that doesn't happen. But again thanks for the upload. Wishing you all the best. ♥️
