  • NOTE 1 A big thank you to Peugeot Butterworth (CS Euro) for lending me this 408 Turbo so I could film this video.
NOTE 2 The engine features direct injection, not electronic multi point fuel injection as stated in the video.
Hello everyone! Today's video will be about the Malaysian-spec first generation 2016 Peugeot 408 four door saloon with the 1.6 litre Prince turbocharged petrol engine producing 163hp/165PS paired to a 6-speed automatic in the Turbo trim.
Below is the list of current first generation 408 four door saloon variants available in Malaysia as of 25th January 2017. I arranged it from the cheapest to the most expensive.

Hemeshwaran Sivamani My friend buy it one year ago to replace his broken 2007 S60 with fault gearbox.
He drive 408 turbo a lot since then.
He travel around Thailand and drive to north Thailand with 408 turbo many times.
The car drive very good and eco.
      Very roomy car and comfort.
I think as roomy as Accord and my Opel Omega.
No problem so far he never repair it.
The only service so far is change engine and gear oil and replace bulb.
Very good car you should buy.
You should not go to official service center because it very bad and expensive.
You go repair the car by other unofficial center it will cheap and good.
Also you must check the car every week or month as you know it is europe car not japan car.
Sorry my english is bad but I hope you can decide to buy a car that you like.
I also hope some day I can buy 408 turbo to replace my currently 406.
      Thank you.

But if you want hatchback I recomment 308 turbo 2009 model.
Engine and compartment is the same as 408 turbo and RCZ.
But it very stylish very beautiful car.
      Panorama roof is very nice.
But the size is very smaller.
      Thank you.

Hi Alex, comparing this car to Kia Cerato? Which one worth the money?

    • @alexlovesmac
      @alexlovesmac  Před 7 lety +1

I would say it's always up to one's choice on which car to buy. Each has its own pros and cons.
      408
+ 408 would be the larger car of the two and I feel it drives better than the Cerato. It also has a turbo engine which is more powerful. If you go for the first generation 408, it is slightly underspecced as it only has a basic radio, halogen headlights, no smart keyless entry with push button start system, etc. The second generation 408 is definitely the better option here with more specs such as a touch screen head unit with navigation, full LED headlights, and the smart keyless entry with push button start system.
      - Peugeots in Malaysia are not exactly known for their reliability, but if you're lucky and you get a car with no major issues, then you're fine (I have a 2016 308 THP, and in the one year it has been with me, I had no major problems with the car). Also, if you're looking for a strong resale value in your vehicle, then Peugeots cannot offer you that.
      Cerato
+ I guess I could say the Cerato would be the more reliable car of the two. It is also better specced for around the same price point. The Cerato also does better in terms of second hand value.
      - The Cerato does not have turbo engines, so the car can feel underpowered if carrying a lot of items and or people on board. If you go for the 1.6 KX model, it also has very little safety features, with only 2 airbags, ABS, EBD, BA being standard.
