    General concept / operation of the p7100 + AFC + AFC LIVE
    Open to discussion, feel free to comment.
    45psi Spring Kit used in this video.
    (35psi Spring Kit was too soft for my truck. If you have a 5spd you should consider a heavier spring)
    To all you die hard enthusiasts of the ol' reliable 12v cummins, and anyone else.
    Enjoy !

    Best explanation I have seen. Compared to others!
    Thanks

    Just a heads up to anyone curious, my truck used to get 15-16mpg average, but after tuning the afc live im able to consistently get 18mpg. If i had 3.54 gearing i probably would have went from 20 to 23-24.

    What's the difference between a 215 pump and let's say a 160 pump? I thought the difference was the injectors.

  • @tittledieselperformancellc

    Since your running 4.10 gear (I assume your description is a typo), time for a timing bump for that operation rpm. 15-16* will help your situation a lot. I plan on getting AFC live some day...should be handy to adjust on the fly

    • @da_chaos3896
      @da_chaos3896  Před 9 lety

      It is 4.30 gearing not 4.10, odd i know. I want to switch to 3.54 (or 3.73 with 35's)
      Yeah i've been meaning to bump the timing, just haven't yet lol
      The afc live is my favorite mod so far, and allows me to throw way bigger injectors/turbo upgrades without worrying about mpg loss, or just smoking everyone out all the time.

    • @tittledieselperformancellc
      @tittledieselperformancellc Před 9 lety

      Yeah that is really weird. I don't believe they make a 3.73 for the 60/70 or 60/80 combos. It would be nice though... A nice mid range gear for part time towers. Pump timing makes such a huge difference, when you get around to it you will love it. I've done about 12 different trucks with timing alone threw a wide range of degrees advance and you wouldn't believe the change of how the truck reacts!

      +da_chaos I didn't think they made 3.73's for a 60/70 or 60/80 combo...I haven't checked in a while though. 3.73 would be awesome for my tow rig. I just went to 18* from 16.5 and I would say with that AFC live, jump to 17 then go up from there. With 4.30 though 18-20 would probably be better...

      +da_chaos Can you make a video of a gauge shot run of a 0-60 or 0-80 run? then maybe some highway cruising? Ive never driven a dodge that didn't have 3.54 gears so I kinda wanna see how the truck acts with that kinda gearing along witht the 4500. That and I would like to see the acceleration with the controller dialed in!

      +Home Built i've been really busy lately, but I can yeah. It's slow lol i'm shift too much, and my top speed is low. Also, im still running the original stock clutch, and i can easily slip it with max power, so i wouldnt be able to give you a the performance aspect.

    so its just flow control valve feeding a regulator? and then a bypass switch too. Pneumadyne sells these so couldnt we just make our own for a whole lot less money?

    • @da_chaos3896
      @da_chaos3896  Před 8 lety +3

      Potentially sure, as with anything lol.. The parts they use are high quality, plus looks clean and you're supporting a 12v enthusiast company that originally came up with the idea. They sell built transmissions/turbos/injectors for good prices too.

    so do you have to re-adjust settings every time or can you leave it where you feel comfortable between smoke and power or economy

    • @da_chaos3896
      @da_chaos3896  Před 8 lety +1

      Once you set it, forget it. It'll remain on those settings. :)

  • @HestiaStyle
    @HestiaStyle Před 9 lety

    before afc live stage 2 i was getting around 22 mpg an now that i have installed the kit is there any way of getting it back to that setting or even higher?
    (97 cummins 2500 auto tranny) soon to either do an nv4500 swap from the 47Re or just a build auto

    • @da_chaos3896
      @da_chaos3896  Před 9 lety

      +Hestia Style Yes, and then some. Did you get the upgraded spring kit as well?
      Since you can see the PSI going into the AFC, on the AFC LIVE 2, try doing the adjustment method I did. Start with the red knob, then the black knob.
      You should be able to see a good increase in performance AND fuel mileage once you have it dialed in correctly.

    • @da_chaos3896
      @da_chaos3896  Před 9 lety +1

      Also, in regards to swapping for the nv4500 / building an auto.. It all depends on what you are going to do with the truck.
      The nv4500 is VERY reliable under 550rwhp, but beyond that it can fail.
      If you plan on running over 600hp and driving like you stole it, a nice built auto can withstand a beating.
      The 5spd will generally yield better MPG / Save $$ / Great for towing.
      It all depends on what you are going to do with the truck!

    • @HestiaStyle
      @HestiaStyle Před 9 lety

      well im not afraid of saying it lol but i baby the truck mostly cuz my thinking it will make it last longer and since ill be using it as daily driver an farm truck so needing more tow power an speed will just get me in more trouble the only thing is ive heard people say that the swap is really difficult an takes a long time is it worth the time for what im doing with the swap

    • @da_chaos3896
      @da_chaos3896  Před 9 lety

      +Hestia Style Honestly, don't fix what isn't broken! Yes, doing a conversion may take $$$ but so does rebuilding an automatic (built tough)
      These engines can take a LOT of abuse, and run forever. Just don't go crazy haha a few simple mods like the afc live, boost elbow, intake, exhaust etc will help a lot, and perfectly safe.

    • @da_chaos3896
      @da_chaos3896  Před 8 lety +2

      +Turbo617 You're wrong, this completely adjusts your fuel rack travel thus increasing/decreasing fuel economy/power...

    So the AFC Live is essentially a controller boost leak?

    why is your ebrake light on? is your abs light on too?

    • @da_chaos3896

      Only the e-brake light stays on. Minor issue i havent gotten around to fixing yet. Lol
