  • In this episode, learn how to setup a dedicated integration user in salesforce.
Having a dedicated integration user gives you more flexibility to manage and configure integrations separately. You can customise permissions, profiles, and access settings specific to integration requirements without affecting regular user accounts. By using a special integration user, you can enforce stricter security measures and limit access to only the necessary data and functionalities for integration purposes. This helps protect sensitive data from unauthorised access or accidental misuse.
Using a dedicated integration user provides enhanced security, monitoring capabilities, scalability, and flexibility for managing integrations in Salesforce. It helps maintain data integrity, streamline processes, and ensure a smooth and controlled integration experience.
Assign the Salesforce Integration user license to new or existing users that are dedicated to an integration. Assign the Salesforce API Only System Integrations profile to ensure the API is enabled and the user is limited to interact with Salesforce via the API. Use the Salesforce Integration API permission set license to extend and restrict specific user and object permissions. This user license is designed for system-to-system integrations. It may not be used for human users to access Salesforce data or features through any user interface. For more information about the user license and what permissions are available when assigned, see Salesforce Help: help.salesforce.com/s/article....

There isn't a lot of documentation out there for these new FREE user licenses yet, so this is a great resource you've shared. Thanks for sharing!

At 3:40, when setting up the integration user with the Salesforce Integration license, do not select a role (keep the default to None). This ensures record access is limited to just the user's profile and permission set(s). Selecting a role potentially opens up access to records the API should not see.

For the Permission Set, I found that I had to actually select a License of 'Salesforce API Integration' to get this to work. Otherwise I received an error when trying to assign the PermSet to the User

How did you get the drop-down to change colour?

Thanks for the video. So does it mean that this Integration license can't be used for third party app installations like Intercom, Zoom etc?
