I have bad eyesight and i was stuck with a square frame that made my face look wide just because i have a square face and i thought a square frame would suit me best. then i switched into a more rounded frame and literally my entire look changed

For anyone else who does not understand what to do once face shape is known, you’re not supposed to get frame shapes in the same shape of your face if your goal is to compliment it. Just like with complimentary colors, you go for the direct opposite frame shape to your face shape IF complimentary shape is the goal. If interesting face shapes is the goal, then you select frames that distort your face shape, like making it look wider. This is when face shape does but doesn’t matter. You’d try on drastically different frame shapes until you achieve the face distortion you seek.

You can also find double glasses, they have like little magnets that you put sunglasses on top of the normal prescription ones, my mom has those and it helps when she's driving!

As an optician (eyeglass salesman, not the doctor) I absolutely agree with his advice of ignoring face shapes. People get hung up on what they're 'supposed' to wear and supposed to be based on pseudoscience. In reality what really matters is what fits YOU. Not what's supposed to fit someone with a similar face shape as you. Try on everything! Even the stuff that looks super crazy and out there. You might try on a giant pair of glasses and be like "Nope, that's not me" but that in of itself helps you find something that is. Like he says here, find what makes you feel good!

One is normal colored, one is red, and the other is green (those don’t really work but they look funny) I found the first pair on amazon and liked the shape so I stuck with it (they are also super cheap because I don’t have a great track record of keeping them in good condition)

💯 agree to ignore face shapes and get them on your face and see. Some wayfarer type lense frames are angled further towards your face which not only causes an uncomfortable fit sometimes but they look different on you depending on your nose shape and eye depth. I’m very particular about fit because wearing glasses that are slightly too narrow and or don’t have arms that spring outwards a little will give me a major headache in less than 5 minutes. And this comment will give you one in less than 30 seconds lol.
