Poor posture caused by years of carrying the team!😂
Best comment ever seen
So true coming from a goalie
Rough life of a goalie.
You win, it's all on you.
You lose, it's all on you.
Haha
@@peew1020it's very true
I found a spider crawling by my crease on the ice so I put him in the net. Said “I’m going to protect you my guy. Nothings going into happen in there.” Long story short, I did not. He died first period.

(First probably 15 or so seconds only)
Poor spider (I like the story 😁)
Rip spider bro
Loll
Aww poor spider
That's the goalie equivalent of sitting on the bench
it’s a resting stance
LITERALLY
FRRRRRR
Its the good ol' contemplating why you play goalie position
Goalie for 10 years here ... they're "resting" for a bit 😊
i have a feeling by the quotemarks that they're not resting
From the brief couple years I played goal….it’s just comfortable and took the tension out of my lower back when leaning on my pads lol. You’re lumbar area gets tired standing in thar crease in a slight forward lean lol, not to mention when you’re set up for a shot
Yeah same but still play goal
Yep decently it helps just focusing on the game aswell
Spot on.
It takes pressure off our legs to we do it after we use our legs for awhile
For guys that take it seriously it's because it's easier to breath when you are hunched over so I personally do it just to take like a deep breath because it is hard to make saves you have been breathing hunched over after a run or something and to clean our minds so we can completely target on making saves
Bugs. Lol, that’s the most goalie answer possible.
As a goalie I can confirm we all do that
Confirmed
Confirmed
Fax
like a little resting stance
Every single one of us lol
I do that cause its almost like sitting down. You can rest your elbows on your pads and the pads will keep you standing with legs relaxed
Yeap. Funny thing is though I was told as a junior that for leg muscles it would be better to just stand up straight. This is actually somewhat psychological instead, we all just do it.
I do that and kneel on my left knee and use my stick as a rest. It’s just comfortable and gives us a break from standing. BECAUSE UNLIKE YOU, SKATERS. WE CANT SIT
That’s an awful look if you take a knee during play tho 😭
@@mattneko4225 I don’t usually do that because then you have to get up and face a whole play
As a goalie is you take a knee that leg will fall asleep meaning less movement in that leg meaning slower movement. It will effect the rest of a game.
@@tractorbatmanlol My leg don’t fall asleep tho
It's to rest lol
Goalies are so weird I don't even know if he is joking.
He’s defo not joking, as a goalie I understand him
its true, i found Freddy the flea, bob the big boy bug and frank the fly
After a big play I hunch over to stretch my back
Nice pfp 😏
From what I gather, this pose is a resting pose for Goalies, helping to relieve stress on their back or is generally a relaxing stance. I can see why as Goalies are always active and must be vigilant.
You are correct, that gear gets heavy after a while and it shifts the gear and it’s weight to give us a break. I personally also do the “foot shake” (think shaking snow off your boots) from time to time to get some pressure off my feet because I’ve had a foot surgery. It looks funny but it gets the job done
“ one spec to spec three spec oh the puck “ haha
The real reason is that we are simply getting comfortable me especially I broke my back 3 years ago so when I get a chance to hunch over it’s to take weight of my shoulders
Thank you no one else knows lol
It's a comfortable resting position and way for me to re-center my focus.
This made my day 😂😂😂
We do this because we’re tired
Ya
I’m a goalie and they did it to relax
For me that’s how I rest my upper body after diving around making saves because my teams defense is ass lmao 🤣
Sticking out their gyatt for the rizzler
As a goalie i can confirm that we hunch over but not for bugs…. We do it si that we dont hit a iceberg. Dont wanna be like the titani-
You always make me laugh kvg😂😂 love your vids
lmfao i asked my son once he said hes tired LOL felt stupid but hey i never played goal
I do this so I can see the places where my feet need to be, and so I can relax my back and body
There locking in
I am a goalie and can confirm this is true I still remember Jeff the fly😢😢😢 fly high buddy
It's our happy place and it's a moment of thought
Incase anyone actually is curious about the real reason. It’s a strategy to get/stay focused
The weirdest thing...since Ive watched this video. Ive noticed a dead fly on the ice almost every game for my regular pick up sessions.
Im playing in an 9k capacity semi pro rink.
It was my resting position
Flashback to when nick the goalie found a fly on the ice
This has made my day!🤣
as a goalie i can say we are resting
I was a goalie for years its called sitting standing up
you are my favorite goalie because as an 11 year old 12U full right AAA goalie your just so good and funny and I just wanted to say thank you for being my insperation. (:
Thank YOU, buddy! Appreciate the support. Now go make those dreams come true!
I used to play and there is a couple reasons one getting into the zone and focusing and calming your mind and then it's also a rest position you can tuck your forearms on top of leg pads and kind of lean into it
Back in the Era where all leg pads were Brown leather.....the pads we😮re so Heavy, that's the only posture a Goalie could do without flipping in the ice
Damn, I can’t imagine it, the modern pads usually weigh between 7lbs and 4lbs per pad and sometimes those feel heavier, also how heavy were old pads usually
It’s just a way to sit and get into position with the gear on
Great for resting your body. Also helps me get in my head and re collect myself. Helps me remember not to let past goals carry any pressure
When I first started playing goalie it was literally because "Every goalie I have ever seen does it so therefore it is clearly a secret goalie thing and I must do it too even though I don't know why." :P
Now it's easier to breathe and helps with the lower back.
It’s actually relaxing for some reason
that do be true
Mental focus. Nothing more, nothing less.
So considerate of all life around him 🙏
I’m a goalie and trust me that’s not what we’re looking for in fact we’re not looking for anything that’s just how we chill when the puck isn’t near us
You’re probably a lot of fun at parties
Thx
Also I had to laugh when the vid said bugs
And cracks, gotta keep mama safe
This is how I found my Diglett!
It's a resting/thinking stance.
They're looking for your joke. Still haven't found one!
Exactly I found a fly in my crease😂
A lot of my questions about life were in those moments before the puck dropped. Those 5-10 seconds of alone.
That's my bored posture. Also helps stretch out the hammies if you haven't seen any action in awhile.
I am a goalie and I'll tell you why I do it: it's a way to rest and you can get back into position easily
I used to do this a lot coming up. Now though since i’ve been put out to pasture in the beer leagues i prefer to lean back on the net and spread the arms out and just chill.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 for bugs
I’m a goalie I just do it to rest
Relaxing or resting position. Being huntched over can allow the diaphragm to work easier when laboured out of breath.
Bugs is wild
Or looking for string or stuff like that
Edit: its also a good resting position
It’s just comfortable after getting rung in the head
I use it as a reset kind of to rest my back and legs and also when doing it before games its like mental preparation
I am a hockey goalie myself and I do it because it helps my back
Because it feels good
This no joke... Sometimes you look down and there is a bug in the crease and you wonder if you brought them there and how long they were on you for.
usually cause i was wearing my shit 10 minutes before we shouldve put it on, and im just vibing in my own headspace
As a goalie this correct ✅
I do it because it is less tiring
Don’t want to hurt jimmy or bob lol
Cause I’m tired and I’m getting the stress off my lower back.
Because we saw NHL goalies do this on TV
There resting there elbows on there knees. Yeah thats 50 pounds of equipment
And you wonder why my postures terrible!
This position helps reduce the nausea of being a goalie
I do that because I’m tired lol😂
Bro as a fellow hockey goalie this is true
I’m a goalie and this is valid
Getting in the zone
It's comfortable. At least that's why I did it.
Rest positions is a must.
True, and that’s coming from a goalie
Because it’s comfortable in all that gear takes pressure off your feet, back, legs
I’m a hockey goalie that’s right we’re looking for bug good job 👍
Totally true😂👍
100th like 💪💪💪
Been looking for bugs for 40 yrs ..
I do it after a goal for them or if the puck is in there end.
I used to do it to clear my head
I saw a fly on the ice and put him in my net and umm he got rifled
It’s a comfortable position
My back hurts
No I’m a goalie and it is just for a rest
I do not know 😂😂
Its becuase there is no comfortable position in goalie gear 😂😂😂
Big fact. That shits heavy and clunky 😂
Honestly and it feels good
Hes just in stasis... until the opposing team reaches his blue line
It’s just for resting with all the heavy equipment
