    I found a spider crawling by my crease on the ice so I put him in the net. Said “I’m going to protect you my guy. Nothings going into happen in there.” Long story short, I did not. He died first period.

    From the brief couple years I played goal….it’s just comfortable and took the tension out of my lower back when leaning on my pads lol. You’re lumbar area gets tired standing in thar crease in a slight forward lean lol, not to mention when you’re set up for a shot

  • @mothmansk
    @mothmansk Před rokem +17

    For guys that take it seriously it's because it's easier to breath when you are hunched over so I personally do it just to take like a deep breath because it is hard to make saves you have been breathing hunched over after a run or something and to clean our minds so we can completely target on making saves

    I do that cause its almost like sitting down. You can rest your elbows on your pads and the pads will keep you standing with legs relaxed

      Yeap. Funny thing is though I was told as a junior that for leg muscles it would be better to just stand up straight. This is actually somewhat psychological instead, we all just do it.

    From what I gather, this pose is a resting pose for Goalies, helping to relieve stress on their back or is generally a relaxing stance. I can see why as Goalies are always active and must be vigilant.

    • @nikkinickhockeyforever402
      @nikkinickhockeyforever402 Před 6 měsíci +3

      You are correct, that gear gets heavy after a while and it shifts the gear and it’s weight to give us a break. I personally also do the “foot shake” (think shaking snow off your boots) from time to time to get some pressure off my feet because I’ve had a foot surgery. It looks funny but it gets the job done
