My books and videos are all grounded in what I actually do, I make sure you can see the evidence. For example if I suggest sowing carrots in November, take a look at my monthly tours to see them growing and my harvest videos for May to see the actual results. Always great to see, thanks Steve. We're enjoying lots of Kale rather than cabbage. We don't have enough room for the spring cabbages too, so find that works for us, especially now that there are not many spinach leaves left. The broccoli heads are flowering up beautifully now. Haven't been able to keep up with lettuce output before some gone to seed, but it is wonderful to be able to eat so much of our own produce! Still lots to learn, but enjoying the journey. The hedgehogs in our garden have been doing a great job with the slugs and snails, even our Hosta leaves are intact still! 😁Justine
We used to be all kale, kalettes and Brussels rather than cabbages but I’ve gradually realised what a great hedge cabbages are against pests. If we get hit by cabbage aphids or bad whitefly in summer or autumn, we have the cabbages to fall back on. We still grow all of the other brassicas too of course : all the best - Steve
Your cabbages look amazing. Mine are all coming to an end now. I got calabresse, I don't really eat cabbages over summer. But have my next lot in ready for winter

@@SteveRichards way to many tomatoes lol. Lettuce, calabresse kalets, potatoes. I've got a few cabbages need picking. Onions french beans. Peas
Beautiful cabbages, I'm lagging behind as usual but at least I'm still managing to harvest dinner from the garden. I'd given up on cabbages but you're insiring me to give another go. Our weather here has been very cold, dull, wet but I've had lovely broad beans, mangtout and potatoes out of the tunnel.
I’m not a fan of the traditional white cabbage myself, but I really like red and savoy, Debbie and the kids families like spring cabbages too.

it's been a real battle David, started to get serious back in August and it's never stopped. Right now I'm about back to normal, slugs are still an issue, but losses are manageable : All the best - Steve
Thanks Steve,it's a battle,last year's wet weather,,I cannot grow cabbage,the hammer it,
I can grow some kale,sprouts OK,turnips,could you list any more,that are pretty bomb proof,thanks for replying
kalettes are the best, calabrese and Purple sprouting broccoli are a lot better than cauliflower if you have a lot of slugs and snails : All the best - Steve
Hi Steve, great video as always, and so much food! Can I ask how have you managed to get courgettes already? I’m only just planting mine out. Have you got them in your polytunnel?

What on earth do you do with all that cabbage Steve? I cant imagin.
You have to remember that I'm feeding 6 families
@@SteveRichards yes but...cabbage...what do they all do with it?
Chop it into stir fry, steam it and eat it with a roast meal, add it to soups, chop into salads
@@SteveRichards I like it in stir fry yes. I use it in coleslaw too but probably only a couple of times per month. I tried making saurkraut lots of times and it ends up on the compost bay...just cannot seem to stomach it.
I just remembered my dad used to make pickled cabbage and that was quite nice but it demands cheese...lol
Paul's mum made the kids eat cabbage soup and cabbage water...now, that is surely child abuse?
