Is the "A Christmas Story House" Real? Yes & you can walk through it!

- A Christmas Story is an American classic Christmas movie, and what is incredible is that you can actually visit the house where they filmed the movie! Well at least part of the movie. You can even spend the night there! So here is our experience staying in Ralphie and Randy's room and getting up close and personal with the leg lamp. A Christmas Story is my favorite movie.

I live an hour away from there and last year was my first time visiting A Christmas Story house. It truely was magical to be in the house! We didnt get to sleep over though.
We live in Cleveland and have visited the Christmas Story House. Next time visit ALL that Cleveland has to offer.
That's one of my fav Christmas movies! Been wanting to check out that museum for years. Didn't know you could stay there. So cool! Hope you're enjoying a safe and happy holiday season so far Mark & family!

The setting for the film was actually Muncie, Indiana, although it wasn't filmed there.

I stayed on the caddyshack course. At least the view of the course.
Love that place. We went there a few years ago. Love it. Want to go back once more at least. So much to see in the house, museum, and oh the gift shop. Now to spend the night.

That is so cool. I had no idea that house was still around. This has always been my favorite Christmas movie.
If tourists are going to show up at your house for selfies you might as well charge admission to get it 🤷♂️ (thinking of the houses from Home Alone and Breaking Bad and probably lots of others).
The leg lamp you can easily understand both sides of the the story it beings a valued position by him and a eyesore to his wife.

Thank you. Never saw the movie. Maybe this year. Update my wife said no...lol...She does love Christmas Vacation which she watches every year alone.
You'll shoot your eye, kid!! The movie was based on a compilation of several shorts stories by Jean Shepherd, a satirist from the 1960s. If you like the movie, you'll love his short stories about growing up in the Midwest. Trivia alert - in the short story, it was a ham the Bumpus' dogs demolished, not a turkey.

Lol, do it. And then grab lunch or dinner at the bar across the street. It's excellent.
Sadly my wife hates this movie but I love it.
How do make reservations to stay there? I have always wanted to visit this house. We watch A Christmas Story and It's A Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve.
I live about a half hour from there.

Fun fact:
Even though the house is in Cleveland, the movie is set in a fictional town called Hohman, Indiana which is based on the real life city of Hammond, Indiana. Hohman Avenue is the main street that runs through their downtown which is where the name comes from.
And also it seems like they are misleading folks regarding the interior of the home. It was not used in the filming. That stuff was on soundstages in Ontario.
@@tArchStantont Oh really interesting. I don't claim to believe Walter is misleading anyone though. He may have not known just as I didn't know. I only know the fact about Indiana because I used to live on Hohman Ave in Hammond. lol. Have a Merry Christmas and don't shoot your eye out!
