Hole punches are not really that expensive to make. They are very common in the budget and midrange market, actually.

People seem to forget something that It was Sharp who made the first bezzeless phone "Sharp Aquos Crystal" 3 years ago and peizo electric mics found in Xiaomi Mi Mix.I wish you pointed out that. This is the 2nd version of it. Every other phone including Essential copied them.Not the other way around.

Except for the fact that the Sharp Aquos S2 was released in Asia before the Essential Phone was even launched. Once the notch on the Essential became known, it was speculated that due to the design of the Aquos S2, Essential would've bought the screens from Sharp.

Speculated, not confirmed. The Essential phone's release was also pushed back for months. If not the phone would have been out far sooner than the S2. Regardless, the primary market for the PH-1 is the Americans, with less emphasis on other continents.

I'm using this device for a month now. I can say it's working just great for the money. Battery life is pretty decent, display quality is very good. The camera shoots quick and makes really good pictures. Those cutted edges at the top are ugly for me but i installed rounded corners app and it's all fine now :)

When I went to Japan last September I saw a very wide range of Sharp phones for sale in there, such a shame they don't sell them in Europe. Sharp is one very old and trusted brand and also their IGZO displays are seen in many other phones. Great video as usual!

That is the reason why I am hesitant in buying the essential phone. It has no headphone jack. I am ditching my BlackBerry 60 and BlackBerry Passport soon. No more BlackBerry apps in December 2019. I will either pick the Essential or One plus One 5T. The LG EVO 30 is too much for me.

Jason Jones Have you considered the BlackBerry Motion though ?
It's gotten decent reviews, has a big screen, water resistance, a huge battery, a nice front FP scanner/home button, and yes, a headphone jack ! 👍
Like the KeyOne, it runs pretty much stock Android except for the BB Hub. But it's priced $100 lower than the KeyOne ($450 vs $550), presumably because it's missing the physical keyboard (but of coz you get back that screen real estate !).
Pretty decent package for the $ IMO, and prob the only BB I would consider buying right now. I would avoid Essential with its multiple issues, but would consider Motion as a OnePlus alternative.
