Great review and great shooting. I have cleaned my extensively through the first 300 rounds and it seems to be running great. I just hope it continues cause I love this pistol.

Looks sweet. I have a 2011 C9mm that is my favorite of my pistols. Went through 3 magazines at my permanent range this morning . I also have a portable range too. Good shooting. I'm impressed with the pistol and your shooting
Same thing happened to my CZ-SP01 out of the box. Jammed the slide 3 times at a range at 50~ish rounds mark. Broke in, oiled, cleaned. After that, works flawlessly ever since.
I got to shoot one of these, iron sights, at practice this evening. I normally shoot optics. I ran the Prodigy for 2 runs through the plate rack at 15 yds. Even though I had to tilt my head back to see the front sight through my readers, I shot it accurately. It runs very smoothly, the trigger felt nice to me (I don't own 2011 or 1911 pistols), the recoil impulse is very soft -- I could tell that if I owned one I could get it to run fast, and better shooters could make it very speedy. I'm tempted to get one but I'm eager to see how the first run plays out among the current user pool. The guy who brought the pistol to our practice today, he brought it straight from the store. Several others shot it before me. The owner was using his own reloads on brass used many times already, and a few rounds bound up a bit upon entering battery. You could see the ring left on the brass, suggesting it was a bit bulged where it bound up in the chamber mouth.
During the video you had mentioned being able to see daylight between the optic plate and the slide. I had the same problem after mounting my red dot. Double check the red dot mounting screws (not the optic plate screws) to see if they are too long. The threads in the plate are shallow and if the screws are too long it pushes the plate up away from the slide as you tighten them up. All I did was mount the red dot to the plate first to see how much the screws protruded past the plate. I then trimmed them as needed to be flush with the bottom and reassembled everything.
I appreciate your simple and honest review. I'm willing to bet that the failure to feed issues were from a lack of proper lube. Usually whatever oil the firearm has on it is simply meant to protect it during storage, not to be run with.
Yes staccato mags the 20 rounders work in both guns.havent had any problems outta mine I've put 750 fmj's through. People need ta understand this is a production gun staccato is hand fitted and polished to run flawlessly.

I'm a huge fan of Springfield's 1911's I own at least one of the vast majority of their offerings new and old so when I heard they were finally doing a 2011 I had to order one. It's nothing to drop $2500 to $6k+ on a 2011 so for them to bring one to market at this price is kind of crazy... I've already heard of some people having problems but one thing I've learned already owning a few 2011's is they can be a little finicky but I have really high hopes for this one!!!
I’d love to see someone do a complete tear down on this pistol. I’m glad that SA came out with a 2011 even though they called it a 1911DS. I’d also like to see 1,000 rounds ripped through this gun. I don’t expect them to get everything perfect right out of the gate as this seems to be the norm now for most new guns, but in 6 months the batches being produced should be pretty good and I’m sure the after market parts suppliers will be chomping at the bit to replace any inferior parts.
If you want one of these, good luck. I've had an SA-35 on order for a year now. I asked SA when they might be available in quantity, that was late last year. The response was 2nd quarter this year. Crickets.
It's nice to see some more DS 1911's on the market. People just don't realize how nice they are to shoot until you try one. It's unfortunate about the malfunctions. Hopefully Springfield isn't using the buyers to beta test their new offering. My Staccato P has been malfunction free since day one and I usually go thru 300-500 rounds in a range visit. I do clean it more than my other pistols.
Very typical for a brand new 1911/2011 to need a break in period. I’ve seen that exact failure to go into battery on new Wilson combats and Dan Wessons. After 500 or so rounds the moving parts start to polish together and slide even smoother. In my experience Springfields are always tight, which I like because either through manual polishing or use the parts will be polished and fit together, overtime creating almost a handful it gun.

The hang up on the slide not going into battery is likely from the cekacote finish. At the price point it'd be nice if they ran flawlessly out of the box but it's not the case. Oil oil the slide rails rack the slide 1000 * clean and it'll run.

@@XRING we had about 13 or 14 same thing 175 to 250 rds start seeing issues. Pull slide back and slowly release it. The disconnector drags and sometimes holds the slide up without the slide stop at all. It's not returning to battery or cycling properly on all of them.
Appears it's going to be a much better gun after they release a "Second batch" of them that fixes this problem with the hangup with the side and trigger group. Probably a real easy thing to address. Wish these manufacturers would have shooters use the guns by hard before they release them to three general public. They will get it resolved and the next batch will be much better.... Still a great value.

So many of these have had issues, it's hit or miss with this gun sadly. I also know someone who ran 1200rds without cleaning and zero malfunctions.
Good to know. This one became a single shot at around the 270 mark.
Still a great value.
need an EDC but i want this gun so bad 😅
Why, didn't the slide lock back on the empty mag? That's important for someone that is going to carry this as an EDC.
