Buchanan Studio's airy, romantic house in London | Design Notes

- When Charlotte and Angus Buchanan of Buchanan Studio were looking for a blank canvas of a house to make into their family home, it was this Edwardian house in Harlesden, north-west London, that caught their eye. A series of clever structural changes followed, including a spectacular extension at the back to accommodate their kitchen, and then it was time to fill the house with the pieces of furniture and fabrics Angus designs for their eponymous interior design company. The finished project is now a generous, comfortable home for the couple, their two young children and their dog, and is packed with innovative, stylish ideas to copy.

Everything about this house is creative, cozy and enviable! If I had to pick the fav spaces, it would the kitchen/dining- stunning, and the master bath- making it an actual room is divine, and closing off the shower and toilet is brilliant.
That is the first time I have ever seen a double pedestal sink. There were so many interesting and unique aspects of this home.
They are nothing new. They could be found in many Edwardian or older houses but as the houses become smaller in modern times and bathrooms become even tinier, those double sinks disappeared. You can only find them in 'luxury' developments now, if at all.
Absolutely stunning - love the reclaimed doors in all the different rooms! The modern kitchen space, with its clean lines, is such a lovely contrast to the rest of the house as well.
David Nicholls, deputy editor of House and Garden magazine, harassed and bullied an autistic student to the point of suicide.
I wish that the cameraman would have pause longer on the details of this fabulous house.

A beautiful spacious family home. They have some great ideas here. Especially love the ensuite bathroom where the shower & toilet are hidden in their own doorways. The kitchen is brilliant. I love the industrial stainless steel cabinets & worktops. I enjoy these videos so much. 👍🏼

This has to be one of the most wonderful styled houses I’ve ever come across. You are so talented and have come up with such great ideas. I adore the pantry/laundry rooms set up..so clever and it’s a feature as well as practical which I love. Can you tell me how you have potted up the fiddleleaf fig plants in the wicker baskets..drainage etc? Please do another vlog on ideas and inspiration. Thank you! 🦋

So lovely. The colors remind me of my childhood in CT - There's like a 1989 Beaches (Bette Midler/Barbara Hershey) coastal feel to it. Am I way off? Soft - Cozy - Timeless. I'm in love.
Interesting story: from set designers to interior designers. I'd like if this channel did more regarding "origin stories." How does one become an interior designer? The plummy accents of those here suggests a moneyed background.

absolutely beautiful - especially the stained-glass panel in the laundry room! love the use of colours and patterns in this cozy, cozy home.
Interesting for sure, but elements don't jell for me. Exterior doors inside, delft tiles that would have been great but they are hidden behind the doors. All in all every room is full of random items that dont complement each other.

This is a wonderful home. It would be great to see some interesting personalities showcased too. A little more diversity would be smashing... race, class, personality, eccentrics, visionaries etc... I understand it is House and Garden and has a certain demographic and feel but it can feel a little dry at times. It is, however absolutely marvellous to get an insight into how a section of society do get to express their creativity in their homes. and greatly appreciate the fact that they share it with us the audience.

Between the tiles structures for the shower and toilet and the tub, the bathroom looks so heavy. I wonder if they used a structural engineer.
