That blank screen that you selected in the multi-display at the top of the instrument panel will - when using the navigation system with a destination set - show you the distance to your next turn/waypoint, the name of the street that you will be turning onto, and which direction you'll be turning when you get there.
Thanks :)

I just bought an outback yesterday, already love it soooooooo much. Thank you for all the info about all the gadgets. I almost bought a range rover, but I'm glad I test drove the outback first.
Great video review Mike. One thing that you didn't mention, but your camera looked right at, was the oil filter (11:55); I mean, how convenient that thing must be to change being right up front like that! I just thought that was a "feature" worth mentioning for those of us who change our own oil.
+Steve Johnson Good point... thanks:)
Thanks for the detailed review. I just bought a 2017 Subaru Outback!
Thank you so much Mike for reviewing this vehicle. Your reviews are always on point and very intuitive for all of your viewers. Keep up the awesome work. You have a formula that works and helps us potential car buyers through and through :)
Thank you for your feedback Greg :)
Please share if you can.
Excellent review Mike. I did see you mention "Eye Sight", which that car had and you didn't mention how easy it is to remove the oil filter (another reader also pointed that out). I have an 09 Forester and I would like to get an Outback. I love my Subbie no problems in almost 8 years of ownership. Thank you.
If you "hard press" the cruise speed, it will go up or down in 5 mph incriments. If you "soft press" it, it will go up or down in 1mph increments.
I could be wrong but I think you can set the increments of MPH in the cruise control.
True. According to Subaru it can be adjusted from plus or minus 1-5 mph. drive.subaru.com/sum14-eyesight
I'm enjoying my 2016 Outback which I bought a couple of weeks ago.
I also have a Premium model but mine is the refreshed 2018 model, and mine also came with all the extra options that you could put on the Premium trim...like all the eyesight safety features with the new for 2018 8inch starlink infotainment screen with factory navigation and Apple CarPlay and Android auto, plus the sunroof and power rear liftgate....along with upgraded LED interior lights and so on....I think the Premium trim is the best bang for the buck!!
looking to get a new car and this really helped! it has all of the features i really wanted in car and more! needless to say this might be my dream car :3
You almost get the feeling that they just about forgot to put a clock in the car. I finally found it below the main display screen. I will say that is one thing that is really "irking" me from ALL manufacturers these days. They are focusing so much on this gadgetry and electronics and they're forgetting about some of the practical aspects of driving a car.
I am from the future and wait till you see the 2020!
I'm a woman who doesn't know a lot about car (according to my husband's grading system, I get a C) and I understood everything you said. When you talked about the dashboard, Now that's where I do well, I'm a techie (my husband gives me a solid A lol) you explained it very clearly. Overall, great job! I also noticed a hint of a southern accent, it was very pleasant and quite soothing. I always like a good southern accent! 😉😊😌😊
Totally love the new Forester but the key needs major updating!!
love subaru's!!!
Great review! I'm planning on buying one nxt yr . although I don't like the fact the car takes control when crossing out of D lanes.. but I'm sure I'll get used to it..
I just test-drove one last night. It doesn't so much "take control" as gives you slight, noticeable correction back into the lane. I intentionally tested the feature and didn't find it uncomfortable. It would be very easy to override to steer around debris, cyclists, etc. It only works if the lane stripes are visible and you can turn it off.
Very Good video Mike! I am in MN and thinking of getting one winter.
thanks for the reply...that was another question my wife brought up...(bout swerving for debris and or portholes...) now that I'm watching reviews I'm seeing a lot of them out there...
great video! much more info than I got from the used car dealer
Some dealerships are overstocked with these recently. Saw one for 26K after the 6K discount. I was like oh shit!
16:39 . "I have no hands or feet on the wheel." Well, I should hope not...about your feet, that is! :-)
There is a lot of subaru Tribeca B9 in the 2017 Outback.
I love this car so much. I just can't decide between saving up for the outback or Tesla model 3 with all wheel drive. I live in a area that gets a lot of snow. but no one has videos on how goods Tesla AWD is. I just can't decide
.
+Nilloc 93 I am pretty sure I have seen videos of dual motor P85 vehicles in snow and ice and they worked well.
Hi Mike I was wondering if you could do a in depth review of a 2016 dodge grand caravan sxt
At 15:48 and again at 17:00 ish, talking about the cruise control speed adjustment switch, he is wrong. It is a two step switch, push it up or down a little (first notch), it changes 1 mph. Push the switch harder (two notches up or two notches down), it will move the speed 5 mph. Do it slow and you will feel and see the difference. Its great to be able to jump 5mph at a time though if needed.
Thanks for the correction. I was quite surprised with his answer at the time :)
Excellent overview - THANKS !
Have you noticed that when you change gears from Park to Drive or Reverse to Drive that there is a slight delay? This annoys me a lot about the new cvt transmission and wanted to know if others have noticed this as well. Thanks!
It annoys the heck out of me. Really don't like it!
I've noticed this as well, I'm not much of a fan of a CVT in general. Subaru's seems to be relatively trouble free when compared to other manufacturers, but if given the choice between CVT and manual, I choose manual. Unfortunately manual is going the way of the dodo in more and more models.
Thanks for the detailed info, how much was this model as tested?
saving up right now
Really like this detailed demo and view ;)
Thank god they went with the traditional key start up!
smasila Why?
Great detailed video. Thank you
I will alwayes love subaru brand......hope you will do a sti review.
You're driving now.
How the key looks like disappointed me and I didn't watch the video completely, maybe another time, but Mike I really like your videos and after finding your channel I don't watch other videos, I'm interested in full size suv's and I'll waiting for your xc90 review. And also please don't forget to review a Nissan Armada 2017 as soon as possible, they said it would be available this summer, thank you so much again
Check this out: czcams.com/video/YlZtk9Awxv4/video.html
Excellent detailed review.
Thank you for the video! It is very informative. I do not like the blue color in the dashboard in 14:34. Is there a way to disable the blue color or change it to something like white? Thanks!
Is the Subaru Outback and Honda CRV same in height or is the subaru outback more lower to the ground... like a sedan?
MikesCarInfo
Any idea how long that space in back of car from back hatch door to back of front seats when they are pulled all the way forward. I have an Exped sleeping pad that is 77" long that I want to use in my new car and have yet to find the dimensions on that cargo space. I am looking for a car that has that kind of space.
great review
What's that stuff dripping from under the car in the opening sequence? Doesn't look like the car has been in water recently...missing fluids?
Air Conditioning draws heat out of the car and creates liquid condensation around the evaporator coils that is dispersed under the car in the form of water.
It would be nice if they would put turbo from forest
Seems you get ripped off on the premium 2.5 Mike. In Australia our same vehicle is much higher specs.
Leather trim, keyless entry, push button start, plush pile carpet, heated seats, 18 " wheels.
How about DRIVING it Mike?
Thank you!!!
Would you be able to review a Subaru XV Crosstrek?
very nice video Mike.
how much do u give it out of 10?
I don't do ratings like that because it is too subjective.
+MikesCarInfo thanks
Channels and websites that give a 1-10 rating without a massive amount of predetermined universal criteria are attempting to influence buyer's decisions based on their subjective opinion.
GOOD AND BAD EXPERIENCE?
Me gusta muchísimo
nice video, but you didn't show the back seats! As a parent I would like to see what kind of room is available back there for rear facing car seats.
5:14
Ron Vichar bought it..I'm a pretty big guy and there's plenty of leg room.
Heated seats, it it just in the bottom portion, or does the back rest of the seat also warm? I ask because I have Degenerative Disk disease and depending on what I've been doing I need heat on my back. It's not uncommon for me to crank the A/C while I have heat on my back.
Both the bottom and back

Awesome thanks :-)

Much detail on the detail. How does it drive?
Take one for a test drive :)
I have one (2012). Just was wondering how it compares to competitors.
Test drove the 2.5 and 3.6 last night. Same frame/suspension/steering, etc. with different engines. With three adults and a 110 lb. child in the car, the 2.5 accelerated reasonably well, but didn't have any real punch. It was just fine, though, and didn't seem labored. The 3.6 accelerated crisply and would easily merge onto the highway, fully loaded. Steering seemed crisp and responsive. The ride feel was comfortable. Definitely not a sports car, but that's not what we're talking about here, amirite?
Does this vehicle have heated side mirrors?
Yes. They turn on when the rear defroster is on. 25:23
This is a fabulous car. Thank you!
I have 2015 outback 2.5i with eyesight. For the money, Outback is nice car. I love my outback.
However, outback is not a luxury and high performance car. I mean, do not expect too much. .
If you go to Colorado, you will notice you would need 3.6 for this weight of the car. That is my experience.
Absolutely i agree,
Yep. Live in Salt Lake City we have the 3.6 and it is a must for the mountain passes.
I agree the 2.5l four cylinder version is a bit under powered, but you might like to take a look the 6 cylinder 3.6l Subaru Outback. The 3.6l R Premium is pretty well loaded.
no mantion per galleon
I wish Subaru could give the driver the chance to disengage the all wheel drive system to save some gas in downtown and on the highway. Just one more button in the console.
Hey Mike i was just wondering if this car can have leather seats?
Yes... with the leather you will also get rear air.
Ok thanks
+MikesCarInfo what is rear air? Wife and I just picked up a 2016 outback 3.6r
Vents that channel the climate control to the rear passengers.
Don't worry Nabil, it doesn't mean the air that comes out of your rear.
i don't think that is a premium model, where's the push button start and the upgraded wheels and leather seats/woodgrain door and glove box?
Yes, that is the premium model. The trim levels are base, premium, limited, and touring. You have to get at least a limited to get the upgraded features you mentioned.
حلؤؤؤؤ عاشت ايدك حبي🌷
I'm watching without volume. Was that a full size spare or a smaller emergency tire?
Full size tire on a steel wheel.
Sorry... it is a temporary tire but it is full size.
Does it come with rubber floor mats or just carpet ones? Guys at work telling my husband that Subaru comes with rubber mats...
Hanna Kuzyk it comes with both. You may have to get the dealer to "throw both in" on the deal.
i hate the starlink, change it to carplay already
m
3.6r is better.
Better at what?
better engine than 2.5
Better at what?
81 more HP (256 vs 175) and torque (247 vs 174), which is a noticeable boost when you put your foot in it. The exhaust sound of the 6 is also more "porsch-ey" if you like that sort of thing. You'll take an mpg hit though, falling about 4-5 mpg probably, so if fuel expenses are a significant concern the power boost would have to be weighed against that. Also, the 3.6 is only to be had on the limited or touring trim levels, not base or premium, which means the 3.6 will run almost $3K more than the 2.5 at the same trim level.
I'd love to see you do a review of a 3.6R Touring Outback, but those probably won't be on the lots very often.
Good explanation. It is rarely the case that one option is "better" than another... cost and benefits are always a factor. Thanks :)
If anyone is looking to buy vin alert, before you buy it, checkout the review on my blog first at tinyurl.com/gwz5at7, don't buy before you read my review. Hunter.
I like the volvo more
I like Subaru for there reliability & Volvo for there safety I'd either choose a Volvo XC70 or Subaru Forester
The Subaru is the superior car in every way. The volvo is overpriced and does not perform nearly as well off-road as the outback.
+Blubberlover5312 Urm if you have an opinion don't share it.
Urm it's not an opinion , it's a fact.
+Robert V Its an opinion. 👏👏👏
I love this car so much. I just can't decide between saving up for the outback or Tesla model 3 with all wheel drive. I live in a area that gets a lot of snow. but no one has videos on how goods Tesla AWD is. I just can't decide
.
My Nissan Rouge was perfect in the snow! Almost like a high performance Hummer, it never back slid or spun it's wheel. Solid as a rock. Lasted me ten years. Named the car and everything. Now, unfortunately I have to throw in the towel on Apollo, he's had his last fight. 😍😘 This is my replacement. A little sad though.
