same but it's so difficult since my school has no acting clubs and the nearest opputunity I can get is probably around 5 hours away. I can't afford any transportation and I can't get an agent. I've been wanting to send some companies some self tapes and idk how. It's just so hard

I used to go to this preforming arts class in my school, my teacher told me I was doing so well but I decided to quit because of this boy in my class who always made fun of me and my friend. Tbh I wish I had kept going and had more confidence

To get over your shyness, start by slowly getting more social. Try to raise your hand in class once a week and gradually participate more. Talk to more people. You got this !

It’s good to hear this kind of advice from someone like her. Someone that has already made it big in the world. Someone so talented. A lot of people would just forget some of their fans want to do this and just kind of ignore them but she went out of her way to make us feel better about ourselves and to help us accomplish dreams.
Millie is so inspiring. Even though she's about 2 years younger than me, she is definitely someone i look up to in the acting scene 💜

Everyone has to start somewhere. I think back to when actors react to their first auditions and oh, do they cringe 😂 you’re going to mess up and you’re going to have moments like those actors where you wonder “what was I thinking, acting like that?”. Just work on improving and cut yourself some slack, especially when you’re beginning. You’re not going to be perfect but you can try to be decent.
Edit: adding onto what the others have said, look for acting classes and join theatre if you’re able. Or, pick up a script from a movie, chose a scene you want to do, and practice it. To make it a bit more fun, do it while the movie is playing. See how you vary with the actual actor(s) on screen. Just have fun with it ☺️

One day I decided to show my friends how I acted, so I fake cried... when I told them it was acting they were so impressed, they told me they really thought I was crying. So I keep gaining confidence. And I keep practicing.

Take an acting class! Then start with small things, like community theatre and student films! You can find casting calls on websites like backstage and la casting! They do cost money but are great legitimate casting websites. Then get a headshot and keep auditioning and training! And don’t give up! Read the book The Actors Life by Jenna Fischer, it’s really helpful. And keep practicing acting!

I love Millie, she is my idol and i look up to her. I’m going to acting school to peruse my passion(acting of course). She is my favorite actress of all time. Millie is amazing not just because she’s in stranger things, but some of her other movies like Enola homes I love. I would kill just to talk to her for 30 seconds. The best advice would to take this career path smartly. As there is huge amounts of luck involved and today nepotism. My own topic this week for my own subscribers was how to pursue this smartly. Some of you out there (including this writer and vlogger) have the artist aspiration. You have been told by the very few who made it to believe in yourself and never give up. Well the simply fact is the arts are very different than any other profession. Because usually--someone else has to let you in. Now what I would tell you if you are 18 or 40 and feel that your destiny is in the arts? I would not tell you to just stay the "safe route" and give up on your dreams. I would tell you to pursue the artist aspiration smartly. Get another trade that you at least like. So the agents of industry never have you by the throat. You have to go to work anyway so you might as well have the job that pays well. I never went through the starving artist phase. I went through a starving student phase. So when I finally did pursue the artist endeavor I did it with a job I also like that contracts for 100K a year and four month vacations in Europe. That's how you go through being a starving artist. You don't starve at all. Hope this helps someone---Charles
