    Another benefit of these type of devices is that if you are using streaming sticks like Roku or Amazon you don’t have to plug the stick directly end of the TV. The weight of those sticks can eventually mess up the HDMI connection on the TV. By plugging your streaming sticks into these devices like you described here and then you just have one HDMI cable running to your TV. It is better for the health of your TV long-term.

      typically anything that creates a lot of heat or has the potential to create heat typically goes on a cable.
      though with the apps on the tv it makes it a moot point to use a streaming device..
      when in fact everything you will own will have access to streaming apps whether it be tv/pvr or console so the reality is you likely wasting money on a piece of tech that you don't need..

    Ok I’m a new subscriber as of today. I’m so glad that i ran across this video today. I had already ordered a different brand today. I wasn’t completely sold on if it would take care of my audio needs. First of all I couldn’t find a pdf manual describing the different hdmi arc selection available. So I immediately cancelled my order in time. I’m pretty sure that the one that i almost bought only had one selection for arc. So I kept looking and ran across your video describing exactly what i needed. My need was to connect to my soundbar and have my other devices play through my soundbar. My tv is the Q60T 70inch 4K. My soundbar is the Q60T . So I’m extremely happy for watching your excellent video. Your personal time and expertise is greatly appreciated!!!!

However I believe I may not have the right type of Switch as it only has a single output port. I believe I would require a switch that has an input as well as an output port plus ports for the devices. Is there a switch to make this possible or a better way to achieve this. Thanks Steve.

    Steve I like how you explain content! I am new and I just subbed to your channel sir :). Now I am a 2020 Samsung QLED owner. I have one HDMI 2.1 port but would love a switcher like this for 2.1. Would you be able to know of any HDMI 2.1 splitters at 120hz?

    All of this presupposes that you have a tv that has ARC in it. I need 2 outputs one to tv the other to a Samsung sound bar with ATMOS. And at least 2 inputs on for Roku one for firestick

    Hi Steve, thanks for this. It seems like this would be a great device for me, but I just have one question. Does this support HDR as well? I know it supports 4K/60Hz but I was planning on using it for my PS5/Xbox One X in my setup

    Where can I find this item, I went on amazon and it's available and not sure when it will be restocked. Did they stop making it? If this is the case, can you recommend another one that's on the same level (with arc)

    This is the best explanation I have seen! Question....can the arc hdmi port on the TV be used to plug in a gaming console, or is it for output only?

    • @TechSteve
      @TechSteve  Pƙed rokem

      I think it’s just outputs, why would you plug into a console and not a audio source

    • @christinef317
      @christinef317 Pƙed rokem

      @Tech Steve TV I think you misunderstood my question. I was asking if I can plug my gaming console into the hdmi/arc port on my TV (use as input). I have since found out that it can be used as an input or audio output, which you can change in the input settings of the TV (at least you can in mine)

    • @TechSteve
      @TechSteve  Pƙed rokem

      The HDMI can be used for any source, eARC is the only one compatible with Soundbars

    If I want to use a projector (or tv) WITHOUT ARC, will the switcher send audio to my HDMI home theater (or sound bar)?

  • @juliegatesman9501

    This is great!!! This is exactly what I've been looking for! And this is the first video to really explain it well and give excellent examples!!!! I have one question. I thought this could be my solution, but there may be one roadblock. I have an older Samsung tv with 2 HDMI ports. Neither support ARC. I currently use one port for my Xfinity cable box and one port for my Roku box. I am getting a Roku streambar hence the need for an extra port and one that would be an HDMI-ARC port. It does come with an optical cable which I could use if I didn't need to use a switcher......Since there's no option for the optical cable to plug in to the switcher and the output going into the TV isn't ARC support - am I SOL?
    Or do you know of any comparable products that offer that, too?

Your video pop up in my search . I plan to connect a TV stick/box, a Xbox series S... Etc. This switch will come in handy .

      You van hook up as many as you like, 1 per hdmi port and I recommend HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2
