I have a question regarding the power adapter/converter.
I will be going to Thailand (uses 220 volts) from the U.S. (uses 110 volts); should I bring a converter with me in order for me to charge my phone/laptop?
I will be staying with my relatives, who live in the rural areas of Thailand.

@@LiveLoveThailand : Thank you for the response. When you mentioned that the outlets in Thailand are international, it kind of confused me a little bit (I know that many countries in Europe use 220 volts like in Thailand).
Yes, I will be bringing one, since I may have to use it at the airport in Korea anyway (a layover).

What you don't allow for on Creditcard use is Most cards I have for example give a percentage back in my case up to 3% and 2nd point typically you get a better exchange rate than banks if you factor the buy and sell rates. So I think you find it works out very similar using a Creditcard. Well at least for me it would be. Very similar to Vietnam lot places add a surcharge of3%

I prefer a mix of cash and debit card, kept separate to avoid theft or loss. The credit card is for dire emergency
Using your debit card costs 220 baht per withdrawal so keep its use down
It might be more expensive to use your debit card in the ATM in Thailand, but it offers security, if you loose your card you can get an emergency number from your bank so you will not be with out money, If you loose cash it is gone
For taxi I use Nam's taxi service with lady drivers great service and they drive sensible

I booked a hotel for three nights as that should give me enough time to find out in which part of the city (Chiang Mai) I want to live (near private primary schools, Mosque and Halal food) but the site then suggested I rent a car with them too. Their cost for three days 2 334 EUROS!!! I could buy a used car for that price!
ALWAYS bring your prescription meds and if you are like me, over 180 cm or "bigger", bring the clothes and footwear you'll need. I'm a size 46-47 shoe and when in china, malaysia and even turkey, they were extremely difficult to find and then with few varieties.

I noticed that there are different rates of different notes in euros. For example for the notes of €100-€50 is 36.50 but the €20 below is 36.45. I just dont get it why. In my home country it doesn't matter if it's 100 or €20 its just the same rates for all.
Overall we enjoyed the chaotic and lively vibes of Bangkok.

There is a joke about Thailand; Thailand has 2 reasons: hot and hot as fvck.
The best time to go to Thailand, weather-wise, is in the winter (December to February), which would be only regular hot. But keep in mind that it is the busy season, so the airfares and everything else will be more expensive as well. Also, there would be a lot of Aussies that are vacationing in Thailand during those months (those are the summer months in Australia).

this is not a correct information. Using credit cards in Thailand is perfectly ok. it could depend of course on bank you use (in your home country) but for instance in USA many credit cards do not have " Foreign Fee" and exchange rates are almost perfect. I am talking about using credit cards to pay for things and not to take cash out. Taking cash out from credit card is called "cash advance" and is never good idea to do. Also there are some debit cards in USA like Charles Schwab that refund ALL ATM fees at the end of the month. so even if are charged 200 THB every time you take cash from ATM- Schwab will refund it .
Do not carry too much cash. it is not a good idea
