I purchased this gimble because of your review I was going back-and-forth between this Gimble Q3 vs osmo 5 . I think I made the right decision I have use this with the iPhone 11 . I am new to using gimbals I have used this gimble twice still learning I am pleased so far keep up the good work.🙏
I watched all the other reviews of this gimbal the day the embargo lifted but none of them are nearly as comprehensive and detailed as yours. I plan on returning the Aochuan Smart XR because the arm isn't long enough for the axis to turn with my Galaxy S21 Ultra and getting this one instead. Cheers for another amazing video!
Sadly what the embargo was showing was half working gimbal. I couldn’t believe it…. . I published the video late because I was waiting until it is fully functional ready for real review

As a result of all of the things I've learned from you while watching your channel I pulled off something successful yesterday. While discing land on my John Deere 4020 tractor I was able to hold my DJI OSMO in my hand while driving my tractor creating incredibly Smooth video for my channel. I should have watched this video before sending the first Zhiyun back because it just vibrated and did nothing else when I turned it on. Now I know the arms come locked (for some reason I can't imagine) and need to be unlocked before it can be used. My first gimbal stabilizer. Who knew! The software app was glitchy at first on my Galaxy phone but after a few tries it seemed to catch on and work. I'm sure it will get better over time. Thanks for this well done informative video.

Great review!!! You're my go to reviewer for Smartphone Gimbals...simply the best. Bummer that there is no SloMo on Android...Is this a limitation of Android or Zhiyun's implmentation. Android is the predominant phone worldwide (72% market share to Apple's 27%). I'm just sayin...
Unfortunately they would have to develop app for each Android and there are hundreds so it is not worth it. The money they would have to invest would never come back… Apple is only one system… that is the reason why most of the gimbals are very limited with androids. Each Android needs separate programming
@@ZdenkaDarula Just curious did Zhiyun tell that? I hear what you are saying BUT I'd be shocked if Google did not provide a generic camera API that supported zoom capability. The API would act as an abstraction layer on top of the phone's specific camera driver and hardware. Now maybe not every Android phone may support the generic Google Camera API but that's easy to handle...check to see if the phone supports the Google Api and if it doesn't you disable the zoom for that device but otherwise you enable it. I've written apps for Android and there is definitely a camera API that I've used to take pictures and I'm 99.99999% sure it works with video as well. I assume a zoom api exists as well. I wonder if Zhiyun is being lazy or they aren't aware of this..it shouldn't be that hard. BTW I'm a software engineer....using abstraction layers is very common. Again I'd be shocked if Google didn't provide a generic API that would allow you to do things like zoom the camera...Zoom is a generic feature of a camera. Tell it you want to zoom and at what percent and you should be able to zoom the camera...it's not rocket science. I'd love to hear Zhiyun's rational for why they don't support zoom on Android.

i BOUGHT ONE AND RETURNED IT AS IT WENT FAULTY AND BECAME UNRESPONSIVE after a while, I believe it also has a problem if you overcharge the unit by accident and that it then goes haywire, also not so good with large phones like the Nokia 8.3, so pairing the right phone is important as it worked well with a much smaller phone and is more apple based as the software from Zhiyun for android stinks, but Zdenka does amazing reviews

Hi Zdenka, great review, very complete! I was wondering if you could cover the smoothness of the gimbals when you move them around, because I believe not all gimbals are equally smooth or powerful. Maybe you can aim the camera around like tracing a giant square or circle in the sky? Just an idea. Thanks again! :)
Great review! I’ve seen a few of your videos and the production quality is awesome. I currently have a Smooth 4 and find out it’s a little heavy for my hands. Would you recommend the smooth Q3 over the Osmo mobile 4? When it comes to budget it’s not really a problem for me it’s more of being able to change modes (Lock, pan tilt ) quickly while using filmic Pro without having to go to the gimbals primary app. Thanks and looking forward to your future reviews!

Great video! Sadly always crap support for Android. At least you can choose many of the modes from the gimbal. Seems like a decent product, and will be even more valuable with counterweights.
Thanks for a great review of this gimbal, was looking for one recently and was ready to buy the Osmo gimbal But after watching this review decided on the Q3 Reasons price cause almost 1/2 of the Osmo Quality looks to be same as Osmo Weight very light and good payload Capable of seeing with mode in through lights great feature And finally a small light which should come in handy in dark situations All in all Q3 looks like quite the gimbal for the price should get mine next week can't wait to try it out After watching you use it in sure I'll be satisfied with the Q3
Great video... I've been reading a lot of reviews people are complaining it doesn't work on Android. I was looking to get the smooth 4 over DJI which have the same problem with Androids.
Yes I did look that up it's mostly iPhones and zy Play for Android version and requires 5.0 and up I have 10.0 right now as of 2018 it says, so hopefully it'll work.. Thanks.
@@ccik4624 your S10 is probably not that old I have a moto G7 2 years old and my Bluetooth is 4.5. which DGI did you get om4 or om3? I don't think I'm going to take a chance too many people are having problems with Android's but the main purpose is for the gimbal stabilization but the app is also a nice part of it 👍🏾

After many many weeks researching for a gimble and just about decided on DJI 3/4, you have come along with another insightful, informative and clear review of a new/updated gimble. Back to unsure now. Thing gets me is that another updated gimble still has restrictions for Android. And as a Android user Android UX is an important factor. Q3 or DJI 4, If i have budget for either just don't know what is best. Thanks again for another fabulous video.
Thank you for this Awesome video. I've had this gimbal for a little while... I'm having some issues with locking and unlocking the second motor I don't know when it is locked and the gimbal doesn't want to seem to balance a straight horizon. I use my Samsung S10 native camera. So my question is how do I lock the motors into place or unlock them... And how do I know when it's locked? 🙏🙏

great video as always. I find it interesting how these gimbals are starting to squeeze out the "middle class" (for lack of a better word) of gimbals. not technically but feature wise. its like gimbals for selfies and podcasting, and then hybrids and full on for cinematic. looks like the Q3 is going the opposite direction of the smooth 4. no focus puller or buttons for filmic pro access. in fact, does the Q3 even communicate with filmic pro? anyway, just an observation I made watching this video. still, nice to see a stronger motor than the smooth4. actually compared the smooth 4 to the mini P and it seems like the smooth 4 is struggling with the iphone12 pro max (I know,, its over the payload limit), but I weighted the arm and it did ok. the mini P motors seems to handle the 12 pro max a little better but VERY frustrating not having filmic pro access. I bought a generic shutter remote for iPhones and taped it to the handle ha ha!!.
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts…. I love mini p the most myself no doubt. I don’t use filmic pro as I find that I really don’t need it…. Very exceptionally I use Protake. Yes these gimbals are build for every day user, social media. Not really for filmmaking
Just a word of caution- I've had mine for about two years and now the battery won't charge at all (very common problem). It's really easy to open up and access the battery, but Zhiyun won't sell me just the battery. You have to send in the unit and pay (if it's out of warranty) quite a bit to replace it. Not worth the cost of the unit. Can't find a replacement battery anywhere online.
Hello, I really appreciate what you're doing here. I'm currently using OM3 in shooting my car reviews, but it's giving me hard times since I switched to S21 Ultra. It can't handle the weight of the phone plus a Boya wireless USB-C microphone for more than 20 minutes then it overheats and keeps falling. Does this gimbal or the OM4 do a better job with such a heavy phone and setup? If not, do you recommend any other gimbal? Thanks! 🙂
@@ZdenkaDarula this.. I did a shootout with a mini p and a smooth 4. mini p is a BIT longer to balance but built for more weight. sucks that it doesnt talk with filmic pro. REALLY bummed out but after a full days shoot with both rigs I think the mini p takes it. I learned you should never hit to go over the payload. the gamble may still work but youre stressing the motors. after I learned how to "talk" to the gyros, I managed great cinematic footage with the mini. I bought one of those cheap bluetooth shutter remotes for filmic. at least I can trigger recordings.

Really informative, but I really love how you organised and structured everything in making the entire video. So, I ask this of you 1 of my favourite youtuber. Could you do a video if not already how you edit and piece all this together 🤣 I keep saying 'how did she synchronise this and that 🤣🤣 example you rotating the gimbal and it having both footage simultaneously synced picture in picture style. I've used a Q3 - it work great. Just wished they made it in black or apples space grey - it just looks a bit cheap in that light grey, I know this seems trivial - but if I have to use one on a professional job it just looks a bit amateurish.
@@ZdenkaDarula I often will use a phone gimbal - all of my clients are online content - mostly vertical images and video - they really aren't bothered what I use as long as I get them reasonable look artwork. The looks of the thing is a backward step for me but that subjective I suppose.
Thanks, Zdenka for the nice review. The Samsung Note line isn't a winner with Moment lenses, (or other accessaries), attached using this gimble. It honestly depends which android you have as every android has different compatibility. I think Zhiyun is little bit better

Hi Zdenka, great review, very complete! I was wondering if you could cover the smoothness of the gimbals when you move them around, because I believe not all gimbals are equally smooth or powerful. Great review! I’ve seen a few of your videos and the production quality is awesome. I currently have a Smooth 4 and find out it’s a little heavy for my hands. Would you recommend the smooth Q3 over the Osmo mobile 4? When it comes to budget it’s not really a problem for me it’s more of being able to change modes (Lock, pan tilt ) quickly while using filmic Pro without having to go to the gimbals primary app. Thanks and looking forward to your future reviews!

Great video! Sadly always crap support for Android. At least you can choose many of the modes from the gimbal. Seems like a decent product, and will be even more valuable with counterweights.

Smooth Q3 is newer and much easier to use
Thanks for a great review of this gimbal, was looking for one recently and was ready to buy the Osmo gimbal
But after watching this review decided on the Q3
Reasons price cause almost 1/2 of the Osmo
Quality looks to be same as Osmo
Weight very light and good payload
Capable of seeing with mode in through lights great feature
And finally a small light which should come in handy in dark situations
All in all Q3 looks like quite the gimbal for the price should get mine next week can't wait to try it out
After watching you use it in sure I'll be satisfied with the Q3

Great video... I've been reading a lot of reviews people are complaining it doesn't work on Android. I was looking to get the smooth 4 over DJI which have the same problem with Androids.
I have an s10 and just got the dji a couple of days ago and it is working, there is a compatibility list, you could check it out
Yes I did look that up it's mostly iPhones and zy Play for Android version and requires 5.0 and up I have 10.0 right now as of 2018 it says, so hopefully it'll work.. Thanks.

@@ccik4624 your S10 is probably not that old I have a moto G7 2 years old and my Bluetooth is 4.5. which DGI did you get om4 or om3? I don't think I'm going to take a chance too many people are having problems with Android's but the main purpose is for the gimbal stabilization but the app is also a nice part of it 👍🏾

After many many weeks researching for a gimble and just about decided on DJI 3/4, you have come along with another insightful, informative and clear review of a new/updated gimble. Back to unsure now.
Thing gets me is that another updated gimble still has restrictions for Android. And as a Android user Android UX is an important factor.
Q3 or DJI 4, If i have budget for either just don't know what is best.

I'm having some issues with locking and unlocking the second motor I don't know when it is locked and the gimbal doesn't want to seem to balance a straight horizon. I use my Samsung S10 native camera. So my question is how do I lock the motors into place or unlock them... And how do I know when it's locked? 🙏🙏
You are very welcome…. There is no straight answer. The best would be going through manual and really learn how to use the buttons

If you go to film a pro and look at the hardware, You can see which gimbals are compatible with that app I would go with one of those
great video as always. I find it interesting how these gimbals are starting to squeeze out the "middle class" (for lack of a better word) of gimbals. not technically but feature wise. its like gimbals for selfies and podcasting, and then hybrids and full on for cinematic. looks like the Q3 is going the opposite direction of the smooth 4. no focus puller or buttons for filmic pro access. in fact, does the Q3 even communicate with filmic pro? anyway, just an observation I made watching this video. still, nice to see a stronger motor than the smooth4. actually compared the smooth 4 to the mini P and it seems like the smooth 4 is struggling with the iphone12 pro max (I know,, its over the payload limit), but I weighted the arm and it did ok. the mini P motors seems to handle the 12 pro max a little better but VERY frustrating not having filmic pro access. I bought a generic shutter remote for iPhones and taped it to the handle ha ha!!.

Just a word of caution- I've had mine for about two years and now the battery won't charge at all (very common problem). It's really easy to open up and access the battery, but Zhiyun won't sell me just the battery. You have to send in the unit and pay (if it's out of warranty) quite a bit to replace it. Not worth the cost of the unit. Can't find a replacement battery anywhere online.

I'm currently using OM3 in shooting my car reviews, but it's giving me hard times since I switched to S21 Ultra. It can't handle the weight of the phone plus a Boya wireless USB-C microphone for more than 20 minutes then it overheats and keeps falling.
Does this gimbal or the OM4 do a better job with such a heavy phone and setup?
If not, do you recommend any other gimbal?

@@ZdenkaDarula this.. I did a shootout with a mini p and a smooth 4. mini p is a BIT longer to balance but built for more weight. sucks that it doesnt talk with filmic pro. REALLY bummed out but after a full days shoot with both rigs I think the mini p takes it. I learned you should never hit to go over the payload. the gamble may still work but youre stressing the motors. after I learned how to "talk" to the gyros, I managed great cinematic footage with the mini. I bought one of those cheap bluetooth shutter remotes for filmic. at least I can trigger recordings.

Looks bigger than the Q2 which looks better but has a motor flaw in wide shots,too bad portability has been scrificed ..the Smart XR showed here seem to be my favourite

Really informative, but I really love how you organised and structured everything in making the entire video. So, I ask this of you 1 of my favourite youtuber. I've used a Q3 - it work great. Just wished they made it in black or apples space grey - it just looks a bit cheap in that light grey, I know this seems trivial - but if I have to use one on a professional job it just looks a bit amateurish.
To be honest I wouldn’t use smartphone gimbal on any pro job…, normal camera with normal gimbal
@@ZdenkaDarula I often will use a phone gimbal - all of my clients are online content - mostly vertical images and video - they really aren't bothered what I use as long as I get them reasonable look artwork.
The looks of the thing is a backward step for me but that subjective I suppose.
