Kodi, That wasn't a rant. That was information that every boater needs to know. Blunt and to the point. I repair 2stroke outboards for two reasons. None of the dealers want to work on them because they are over 10 years old and few 2stroke owners can afford dealer rates. I'm disabled so I only work on 25hp and smaller. I don't do it for free, unless it's a young kid, but my rates are fair. I have a couple of those Suzuki tripples and they are torquey. Like you I recomend water seperator filters to everyone. I enjoy your videos and your advice is always spot on.
Kodi....great video. The motor runs properly now. Good job. I never really understood how important clean fuel is until I experienced it myself. Hopefully your customer takes your advice: KEEP YOUR FUEL CLEAN AND FRESH.
I have a problem with a DT30C Suzuki. On the side of the float bowl is a drain screw. How do you prevent them from leaking? I have tried sever options and nothing works. When the motor is running, fuel drains out of them. There are no parts but the drain screw and spring. Nothing on the inside at all. How can I stop the fuel from leaking out when the engine is running and completely draining out when the engine is off. By the way, your video on the 30 hp Suzuki was very good. Lots of ideas.
I've seen this kind of mess in carbs all too often. All jets clogged and float needle valves clogged with this salt-like deposit. Suck the last dregs of old fuel out of the bottom of the tank. It WILL have some water in it. Ethanol fuel always absorbs water. Fit a water separatror. Kodi's rant is spot on. All this damage is avoidable. Easier than cleaning carbs.
I've remembered a case when the engine would not start. The tried and tried. The engine was left a couple of months. When it came to me it was completely seized. What had happened? Water in the tank got pulled into the carbs and into the engine. The pistons and bores rusted and locked solid. I eventually got it freed up by putting WD40 in through carbs and spark plug holes for a few days. Got it running again. Seems to run OK. What was a nice 2cyl 2stroke was nearly destroyed by water in the petrol. AVOID WATER IN THE PETROL
Electric start was a option & Added a good amount of cost So most folks just went for rope start. Salt gets in the carbs thru salty mist when being run in salt water sucked up thru the carb emulsion tube & builds up over time. kodi
+MT remove your carburetor & see if there is a metal restrictor plate between the intake & the carburetor? If so remove the plate re-install the carburetor you will then have a 30 hp. If there is no restictor plate you would need to change the intake & possibly the carburetor jets, But either way Yes'' it can B done. kodi
I have a problem with my DT 30 which I wonder if you have come across before water does not circulate and cool the top of the engines and though impela has been changed and it pushes water out and smoke out exhaust port just below the cowling though not out of the e Teel tail have taken thermostat cover of to find it dry though if i plug up the exhaust port water gets up to thermostat and after a minute or some comes out of the teel tail have you seem these problems and any ideas thanks
+Kim Tribe, drop the lower unit & clamp a hose to the water pick up tube, then to a garden hose turn on water slowly & just enuff pressure to start water flowing, Also use compressed air & back blow until you get flow through the pee tube, Sounds like you might be blocked up. kodi

And the ever popular , ''It Just Needs the Carbs Cleaned'' Hahaha you can say that again !
SUZUKI IS COMING UP AND UP AND THAT ONE IS A PRIME EXAMPLE WHY ANY OTHER MOTOR WOULD HAVE NEEDED NEW CORROBORATORS . WELL DONE
+Victor Remick, Thank's, I agree Suzuki made some of the finest old stroker's ever built. kodi

hi ive got a 1986 dt 30hp 2 cylinder that keeps backfiring on low revs ? ive cleaned out the carb but it still does it any ideas ???

How come most motors don’t have electric starters? Also, how does salt inter the carbs ??
Electric start was a option & Added a good amount of cost So most folks just went for rope start. Salt gets in the carbs thru salty mist when being run in salt water sucked up thru the carb emulsion tube & builds up over time. kodi
can we make a 25hp into 30 by just change the carburator
+MT remove your carburetor & see if there is a metal restrictor plate between the intake & the carburetor? If so remove the plate re-install the carburetor

How many turns counterclock wise do you have your screws on the carbs?
I would like to know that too! On mine it will only run nice in idle, in gear with all three screws 1,5 turns plus 1/8 turn👍
So, 1.5 turns out +1/8 more?
@@chrisconsidine4322 Correct
