Best way to make sure that you're moving frequently with a standing desk is to always make sure your glass of water is full next to you. Not only will you have to move to refill it, but you'll also move when you have to use the restroom and as an added benefit, you stay hydrated!

    • @pubcollize

i expected this to end as a joke about tipping the glass of water over when raising or lowering the desk

I used to do that, but then you have to pee all the damn time. Now I just drink a bunch of water after I eat, and then I don't have to pee as frequently (still the same amount of water in the day overall though).

Been using a standing desk for little over 2 years now. One thing I will note about it is that once you've accustomed to spending so much time on your feet, sitting becomes incredibly uncomfortable. Like at a class lecture or the movie theater.

I've used a standing desk paired with an anti-fatigue floor mat for about two years, and things are going well. I rarely sit, but I do frequently leave my desk to talk with co-workers. I have no back pain anywhere, but I'm pretty good about thoracic spine and low back exercises, and I think of the standing desk as just one tool in the box.

NOTE: This product works exactly as described. czcams.com/users/postUgkxguEIMc_Qwab-3QMTpF6jaRL80hiOOsIN It originally earned a four-star review due to a minor defect (see below). However, the manufacturer's customer service rep (Lita) went above and beyond the call of duty and deserves five stars now. I wish I could give even more!I purchased this item which arrived quickly. Assembly instructions were easy to follow. There was only one problem: One bolt did not screw into the hole properly. I called the company. Their customer service rep (Lita) was terrific! She took all my information and submitted a request to replace the defective part. I'm hoping to finish assembly and start using this treadmill soon. (Fingers crossed...)FOLLOW UP: Lita called back to inform me that the company will send a replacement part AND a technician(!!) to install it properly. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Thank you!!

do that exercise b4 sleep at least 30 min a day whether you work sitting or standing.
    make a habit of it.

How about a contest to win a Flexi Spot? I could write a profusely elegant essay on why I desperately need one unit for my desk at work. I am a post surgical lower back fusion and hardware installation survivor who has a career that is the complete antithesis of spine health, despite all I do to minimize sitting time. I broke the vertebrae above the tail bone and was close to being paralyzed. It was because a upstanding chiropractor who knew a world class surgeon that I am standing and mobile today.

I have started using a standing desk n it is just great... no more back pain ...
I would like to know if there are any exercises to relieve the muscles from the stress of standing all day. Maybe u cud recommend some simple exercises during the breaks?

You were standing only or you were combining it with sitting?

Ok so I think I know my alternative to this so I dont have to buy a new desk. I'll just stand up for reading / watching and just sit when i need to use my hands. I'll try

I've been trying to stand but had terrible heel pain. Then you and others said what to do about it. PF and tibial something nerve pain treatment helped. strengh and stretching and then raising to drain fluid. Super helpful, just about no pain. But the fix for that was to just stand on your toes all day.

At first I wanted a standing desk because I work at home with my 10 month old. But I realized I use more leg muscle getting up and down from my desk to run after him. If m I’m standing all the time I would be bending more because he would hold into my legs and want to be picked up.😅
