The way he looks at peter was priceless.
It shows how much he missed his friend.
His tearfully singing and very emotional while doing it.
You’ve done your father proud, son. You really did👍🏼

Agreed...you're amazing..
Regardless, it was amazing. And to hear Tom Jones singing as well as he did back in the day, was just magic.
Peter, was an amazing session. Hope things go onward and upward for you and your family......are going onwards and upwards!!! 😀
Peter, this is the best moment from 'The Voice' I can remember from any of the seasons. What an emotional moment for you and your family. Your dad would be very very proud indeed.
You're right...I watching from Indonesia...2021.. I watch over and over again..lovely
awesome performance but I am a Yank
Amen
One of the best moments from the voice I've seen in a long time
Peter..Sir Tom Jones is great...Your fine wrote the song for him was greater....
The passing of your and he relives the memory and added you in hie memoir that's truely great..
The greatest You sang with him.
The Future...
The Present ..and
The Past...
What's the answer...
Memories..and Mindset..
All In #1
the most amazing part of this for me is that Tom Jones’ voice is 99% in tact from when he was in his 20’s. Jesus, ive never heard an 80 year old sound that good. and with zero prep and totally spontaneous
Oh man! His voice might actually be richer now
Well there was Tony Bennett who was recording albums with current artists until he was almost 90. But Tony didn't do the things Tom has done. Though I am sure Tony created quite a swath as he has moved through his life. To hear Sir Tom's voice even for a little bit was a thrill. The time he has spent on that show is some of the best on TV. In fact it is really the only reason I watch. I watch the kids version quite a bit because it hasn't yet become sullied. And every now and then you find a Gracie-Jayne Fitzgerald from Sir Toms stomping grounds, Wales. She is going to be special. It would be a fun thing to have Tom sing with Gracie.
david cochran i’ll have to check her out.
Thanks for that.

Absolutely agreed. He is amazing. Such power and control still. What a beautiful story.
Because there’s only 1 Tom Jones ♥️
Your dad wrote this song?!? Holy crap, I love this song, this is one of Tom's best! Wow...I used to see your dad on the Irish Rovers tv show, I just thought of him as a skiffle musician-I have been taken to music school. Thanks for sharing this story!
His father Lonnie wrote it indeed. When Lonnie brought the single out it wasn't a succes. (1962) At some point Tom Jones heard about the song and asked Lonnie if he could bring it out as a single as well. (since no one knew Lonnie even brought it out. Tom Jones brought it out in 1967 and it hit number 2 in the charts. In 1976 Elvis Presley brought this song out with permission of Lonnie as well (since he heard Tom Jones singing it and Tom and Elvis knew each other).
I could watch this 'magic moment' over and over again, and still get a lump in my throat, or tear in my eyes. Wow!!
Peter, this is one of my favorite the voice moments! I cannot tell you how many times I have watched this amazing moment for you! Amazing!!! ❤
Well Peter I showed it to my 87 years old Dad and my 81 year old Mother the other day, both massive Tom Jones fans from back when he started in the 60’s, and they both cried, and it was more than just one drop. Happy for you, and you killed it!
I have to be perfectly honest that this is one of the best duets I've heard in a long time and what a fitting tribute to your dad ,Tom jones is a national treasure
I agree
Hes done his dad real proud of he will be looking down on this son with pride
That was a beautiful performance with Tom Jones.

Watching this makes me really want see both of you make real collaboration for this song. The moment was really full with emotions.
What really made me cry is when I noticed Tom crying because of how much is relates to himself now.
Yeah. I would have been the same if I didn’t have to play too.
Peter, I remember being very young and my Grandad taking me to my first ever live concert to see your dad! At the time I believed I was his biggest fan! I probably was his youngest seeing as I'm only 26 now! I remember you coming on the stage and singing before your dad came on and I was just amazed the whole night and for weeks after. Your dad was a massive part of me growing up much to my mother's dismay wondering why I couldn't grow up like a normal kid and listen to the spice girls. Instead I was blasting out all of Lonnie's classics 🤣. When this was first broadcast he rang me straight away and said "get the voice on Peter is singing!" he didn't even need to say any more I knew who he was talking about straight away! My grandad passed away on 18/09/20 and we are having one of your dad's songs at his funeral next month. My tribute to him as we used to sing them all the time together. Even through his dementia I'd ask him if he wanted to sing Lonnie with me and it would all come back to him! Thank you to you and your dad for keeping my bond with my grandad as strong as it was right up until his last day. ❤️
Lauren Kilgannon awww 😊 thank you so much for that lovely message.
I really do enjoy hearing that really touching story. So sorry for your loss but at least you have such wonderful memories to carry with you in your heart.
Hopefully once this pandemic is easing away we’ll get to see each other again at a gig.
In the meantime, I hope you’ll like my new single czcams.com/video/cFL4AiXJlFY/video.html
Same story here my grandad loved him and new him well. I no his other son Andy I grew up with him
@@peterdoneganmusic Best of luck Peter even tho you don’t need it clearly talented like you’re dad and I only just seen this now because I searched you’re dad up then lead onto you. I can imagine that was the best feeling imaginable singing with a legend like Tom and someone who you’re dad wrote a song that was a hit for unbelievable.
Great story, thank you for sharing!!!
Just found your full "The Voice" audition video today... Much respect to you, your father, and Sir Tom. What a marvelous moment. One, I'm sure, you'll never forget. I cried like a baby... very emotional.
It brought me to tears! Such a beautiful thing!
Aww that’s so sweet of you to say, Donna.
Where are you from?
Tom Jones is still fortunate enough to have the most amazing voice, there has never been anyone to rival his rich, strong passionate voice, the man is a TRUE LIVING LEGEND, Why doesnt he get the recognition he truly deserves, he has been giving us all such pleasure for 50 plus years now and has proved he can sing anything and put his own mark on songs. Why the heck hasnt he been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame????
He gets recognition from all of us mate.
Disappointed when i found out he has a son he does not wish to acknowledge. Put me right off him
@@peterdoneganmusic How I would surmise Jones' recognition to the extent I would have the knowledge to comment:
In the US, Tom Jones has his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame., which I find suitable in that his impact in the States has been as a solid broad-strokes entertainer moreso than someone who would identify himself as or be identified by others as "Rock & Roll"
In the UK -- Sir Tom IS the British Elvis, and it's not even up for debate. In the Kingdom, he transcends entertainment and rises to the level of cultural icon.
BTW, to call your father the British Hank Williams would not be hyperbolic -- the nature and volume of his songwriting plus his influence over what became the British Invasion merits favorable comparison. I know you're diligently carrying on his legacy as you chart your own musical path.
Him and Sherly Bassey
Cath McPhail you’re forgetting the incomparable Elvis Presley, who could hit notes and had a range very few could imitate or compare, I love Tom Jones but Elvis was the King!
Honestly this had me sobbing so hard, what a beautiful moment. My heart just burst for both you and your mum, what a beautiful and amazing performance.
Same here 😭
I loved the original and when you said you were Lonnys son it made it even more special. I was in tears watching you both as this is my fave Tom Jones song. I don't know how you didn't cry. I was bursting with pride for you and your mum. Thank you.
So glad you enjoyed it Steven and thanks for the message.

Been a Lonnie Donnegan fan all of my life. My dad taught me about him and played his music, I'm now 66 and still listen to him. You and Sir Tom were absolutely brilliant, I still watch that incredible moment on the Voice and it will always remain one of the best PERFORMANCES EVER. Well done to you. Your dad was a very special person and a marvellous performer. I've just watched the CZcams video of him with Chas and Dave, he was timeless and a true gentleman. God bless.
I will never forget that performance Peter. I never really appreciated TJ until later in years. He was the voice for sure in the sixties and seventies when it came to depth. Your Dad’s song sung by Tom has become one of my all time favorites and I’m betting there are great things in store for you as well. Life goes by so fast that, we sometimes forget to take time to embrace all the ups and downs. At seventy three I realize that more now than ever before. Thank you for your talent and thank you for enlightening us on the full story. Best of luck to you and God bless you and your family.
Fantastic when your mum started crying really got me , your dad was amazing and that song well one of the best ever written. You and Tom really complemented each other’s voices I have watched this over and over my dad passed in 2017 and I miss him everyday this song always reminds me of him.
I love me some tom but Elvis was good. now I see the turmoil Conway twitty had with tom and Elvis, they all tried for an Elvis sound and produced there own magic
2024 and that voice clip still gives me the chills beautiful beautiful moment ❤
Sir Tom Jones such a gentleman and so was you Dad and am sure Tom felt just as honoured to sing the song your Father wrote for him! Good luck young man!
I must have watched your clip with Sir Tom 100 times, I tear up everytime.. Beautiful tribute to your dad!
I once met your father in LA, as I was the head bar tender at Harry's Bar in Century city, one of his backing singers told him there was a Scots guy at Harry's Bar you must meet, she brought him in two days later, what a treat. As I grew up listening to Lonnie's music and songs. Treat.
Cool story! Love it.
That backing singer was my dads girlfriend the time. We’re still friends.
Thanks for sharing that mate.

The entire thing was amazing. Who you were, who Tom was and your Dad's connection. How it went down is a great moment in TV history.
This was TV gold, what a magical moment! It took ages before my tears stopped. Seeing Peter's mum so emotional was beautiful. A credit to Lonnie, God bless you Peter, you ARE the winner to me.
Glynn Jones oh man! Glynn, that is such a wonderful thing to say. For days afterwards I could believe it wasn’t a dream.
I truly believe that things "come around". Your dad wrote a great song for him and Sir Tom was able to "give back" to you, Lonnie's son, years later. It was beautiful to watch. I'd love to see the whole thing.
Some people at the time queried as to whether this had been rehearsed. I can confirm categorically that it was not. I know Ben, who is bassist with the Voice band, and having seen the performance myself, I specifically asked him if it had been rehearsed and he confirmed that it definitely had not been. It was indeed a truly magical moment, and especially so for me as Lonnie Donegan was one of the people who gave me a lifelong love of contemporary music.
I had the great privilege to know Lonnie and he would be so proud that Tom Jones sang his song great and so proud
I really like Peter. Lovely Guy.
Come on though Peter looks the image of Lonnie and Sir Tom is surprised? lol
ALSO, Lonnie did NOT write the song for Sir Tom. Sir Tom made it his own, fantastically but this song was written a year or two while Sir Tom was playing with The Tommy Scott Orchestra in Wales and not widely known. haha.......................Makes a good story though..:)
This took me back to another age. The great Lonnie Donegan, "My ol' mans a dustman, "Does ya chewing gum, Battle of New Orleans, Rock Island Line. Never fall in love again is the best Tom Jones single ever, and shows Lonnies talent as a truly great songwriter. That was an age of innocence that I loved. Lonnie would come on the old black/white television, and we would all get up and start a sing-along, Lonnie was a great favourite in our house. RIP Lonnie.
Aww 🥰 great to see people still have such fond memories.
Where are you from?
Peter, I'm from the United States and I remember the first time I saw the video of your audition on CZcams. It was very moving to me and I have watched it several times. Congratulations on living your dream. You have an AWESOME talent.

He is so lucky to get that one in billion chance to share the cameras, stage, music, passion, and most importantly... time talking, singing, playing music, and the memories only time and video can hold!

The song I'll Never Fall in Love Again is my grandfather's favorite song ever recorded by Sir Tom Jones. And we are surprised that you're the son of the writer of that beautiful song. Because my grandfather always sang that song, it passes through to our generation to sing it, and now we are the one who I think only sings old songs here in my place. I want to share it more to younger age even I am a teenager. A very wonderful moment even it is a year after I saw this video. This sends some love from the Philippines 🇵🇭 ❤.

It was a wonderful moment and I never realised that Lonnie Donegan wrote that beautiful song. Peter, you are a real star and I hope your career takes off despite not being the winner of the show. I still have some 78 rpm records that my family had when I was little - Rock Island Line, etc. - that was a great one!
I am so surprised at the strength of Tom Jones’ voice. Usually, at that age, your lungs just can’t fill up enough to hold notes, as his did. I loved him wayyyy back when, ( because I’m old enough to remember and appreciate him) and I love him now! I’m also glad that I grew up with great music and wonderful singers, who are still popular today and still rockin’ it 50/years later! I really don’t think all this crappy rap stuff will stand the test of time.

Cheers from Bridgeton, Glasgow, your Dad's original home turf...Now then young fella, that really tugged at my heart. I grew up listening to your Dad's music !!! He was superb !!! 🎸🪕💖
Your father's music meant so much to my parents' generation. When I was younger my dad loved to tell stories about how much he and his friends loved skiffle - they started their own group, washboards n'all. I can also remember songs like Rock Island Line playing on the radiogram and my dad singing along and dancing round the living room. They are both still alive and I showed them The Voice clip, which of course they really enjoyed. Much love to you and your family - I hope you have a long and happy life, and career.
