I picked up Smoke Master and his hiking companion Ranger last August in Kent CT and shuttled them around the area for two days. Great people! The AT is really a small world.
Hi Jaru Good to see a video from you, was thinking you hadn't posted for a while. Miserable weather, glad to see you got a break with some nice people. I worry about you eating enough, (that's a habit difficult to break, I have four (grown) children). The skull? Symbolic of life being short and we are in the grave for a long time? The greatest luxury is actually wasting time and doing superficially useless stuff. That's what built Stonehenge and the Pyramids. Maybe walking the AT is the individual 's version? Not sure if it will end up being so sustaining though, and it leaves no legacy. Love the noise of the frogs, "peepers" I think they are called? We don't have them here in the UK. Our frogs are very self effacing and private. I have them in my pond and every year you hear this low pitched croaking, so low and quiet you have to stop and listen otherwise you would miss it. And the moment I open my garden door too loudly they all stop. We could do with some "peepers" to make our frogs up their game. Anyway, keep hiking, you are doing so well and so fast. Hope you get a break in the weather.
From On the road by Jack Kerouac. The character was standing in the rain at Bear Mountain Bridge. "It was my dream that screwed up, the stupid hearthside idea that it would be wonderful to follow one great red line across America instead of trying various roads and routes."
The tide waters come way up the Hudson. Good intuition putting up your tarp. Thanks for the update video, I've been itching to see what's up with your hike. Amazing how you keep ahead of the green up of spring.
I am #999 and had the best day with Smoke Master and a bunch of his friends last summer. We stay in touch still. I sent him the link to this video so he can see how famous he is. 😉
Glad to see you posting videos, y 7:20 ou went quite awhile without posting. Was hoping that you weren't sick injured or otherwise. Keep up the great work and just posted.
Hope you enjoyed the bear mountain zoo... Did you even know you went through the lemon squeezer right before Bear Mt. Love you videos, keep on hiking your hike... Crochetimg and Quilting have low overlap ; D
Bob People's told me Personally they Throw away all shelter logs. Until the ATC figures out a better way to keep the logs I depended on (No phone, No map) I'll continue to tag 🤙
Bob Peoples Told me Himself that the shelter logs that I constantly depended on (no phone, No Map) get thrown away every other year or when they get full. if that is true then every time I wanted to record what number i was on it would just be lost years down the road. Until The ATC figures out a way to log journals and or keep them for future documentation, I will continue to tag 🤙 Sorry if this offends you. @JaruWalks if i have to walk to Maine and back to find you and smoke with you I will! To each their own. Given the length of the universe and the shortness of our lives, watching TV to me seems like an arbitrary way to spend time. TV didn’t exist 70 years ago and probably won’t 70 years from now. Nonetheless, I understand most people don’t see it the way I do. Just sharing my equal perplexment at why people are confused why I would pursue a CYTC.
Subscribed to follow your CYTC! Best of luck!
Thanks!

I saw the notch hostel post of you being the first thru hiker to arrive. Congratulations I hope the rest of the AT is kind to you! Stay safe!

Those night hiking scenes were surreal. Belated congratulations on reaching New England!

Really curious what it means to "smoke someone out". Can someone enlighten me?

Haha, there must be somebody out there crocheting a quilt haha! Was the lemon squeezer the narrow gap boulders?
The mtn immediately before the zoo was closed, forcing a road detour
Good story about Smokemaster, but his graffiti isn’t in line with LNT. Perhaps there’s a better way he might come up with in the future.

Good memento mori moment but there’s some really good stuff on tv

What does it mean to smoke some one. To pass them?
It basically means you shared your marijuana with them, ie you “smoked them out”.
@@JaruWalks ok thanks
Was here to get an answer to that as well!
We can all Smoke ❤️
Supposed to keep porcupines out of sleeping area
You weren’t on the AT in 2021, were you? You look really familiar…

@@JaruWalks okay. Clearly you have a look-alike out there 😆
