I do the exact same thing for cutting the tag so none of it sticks out.

There are a lot of great video's on how to splice a your leader material. However, the 1 milion question remains...does the lead free leader really sinks to the bottom for your bottom bait or chod rig presentation. I couldn't find any video's on YT that confirm this.

After many attempts, it was impossible for me to get the needle into the braid, it systematically passes through and destroyed the braid...

Not heard of that before, it does take some practice though to splice lead free leaders.
