People forget that big blockbuster films rarely win oscars. It’s almost exclusively symbolic and/or a tragedy, often times low budget. What makes barbie successful is how it has fun with itself, when the criteria is pretty much how serious and deep can you be it’s really no wonder they didn’t win.
