- Oxalic acid vapor can be an effective way to treat for mites in beehives. This is one way to do it. Hope it helps.

Great, helpful video
Glad it was helpful.
Hey Bruce.
I just watched a new video with new research showing that 1gram of OAV per box is not really cutting back on mites like we thought it was. Then I asked Bob and he said the same thing, saying he triples the dose and gets great results. This would be a great topic for nature image farm gathering.
You are correct. I made this video before I had heard that fact. Now I hit them with at least 3 to 4 grams.
It’s amazing how we think we know something only to be shown we don’t. It’s humbling.
Thx for being such a friend. Merry Christmas.

@bradgoliphant absolutely. You too!
For backyard beekeepers with a good AC power source, an old school dumb battery charger makes an excellent power source. (Cheaper than a battery and will probably last a lifetime.)
Interesting. Thanks for the info!
Thanks for the video Bruce.

You’re welcome! Welcome to the brucesbees fam!!! Hopefully I will be able to order a pallet of triple waxed frames soon!
Hey Bruce. I too want to start using OA. Could you share where you got your wand? Also, will any 12V battery do? Thx
I got my wand from Bud Willis on Facebook but I don’t think he makes them anymore. I would highly recommend a Lorobbees vaporozer. If the Instantvap is out of your price range I would just get the corded one. lorobbees.com/products/instantvap-18v?sca_ref=925819.Rw5v3swsBM
@@brucesbees thx. And will any 12V battery work? Also on Amazon I see lots of powders. Are they all the same?
Ya. I plan on just getting a wand for $42. Thx Bruce. You’re always helpful
I haven’t haven’t used a wand in a long time. Yes I think so but if you have quite a few colonies you will need a fairly large one. Like a car battery. A marine battery is what I used because with was rechargeable. I use Florida Laboratories OA.

Using an insect fogger works great to treat for varroa and you don't introduce a heated element into the hive full of flammable wax.
Thanks for the watching and thanks for the comment. I know a lot of people use this technique and have never known anyone to have problems because of the hot wand. Nor have I ever had any significant issues, but maybe someone has? If so feel free to share.
Don’t know much about the fogger method. What do you use in your fogger to treat for mites?
@@brucesbees 80 proof vodka (you can use grain alcohol if you are worried about the moisture content of 80 proof), Oxalic acid, mineral oil and lecithin for an emulsifier. Jeff Willard's recipe.
Good information. Maybe it will help someone that reads these comments. Thanks!
Hive it a try. Have never had issues with either the wand or vaporizer gun.
Do you have a link to Bud’s vaporizer?
I think he quit making them. So now I use the Lorob Bees Vaporizer. Very nice product. czcams.com/video/ps-Yr_JtcJI/video.html
Link is in description of that video.
Does Bud's bees have a website?
I contact him through Facebook Messenger: Bud Willis. He may have a website. I sent him a message and will let you know what he says. He is usually quick to respond and he makes a quality product. Good customer service. If you contact him let him know where you heard about him🙂
