Like the way they psyched the audience out with the intro to Chameleon Day. 😂 It’s really fun to see the live version and compare it to the album version. Now that you’ve dipped your toes in Colour of Spring I hope you do more!

Great version. I’m enjoying their music more in the last couple years than I did back then.

Great reaction and an awesome pick! I agree that this is one of the best live shows out there!
So much to love about this song, the structure and build-up is fantastic, awesome instruments and vocals and I love how they give it all!
    One of my all-time favourites!

    Yup!
Now that you've mentioned it, I can hear influences of Debussy and Satie in the piano intro; Bartok not so much, but I don't know his piano music well (and there's a lot of it).
Claude Debussy (1862-1918) - Impressionist, pioneered unusual scales and harmonies, very influential, rarely loud, arguably invented (but can't be blamed for) mood music. Yes _of course_ you've heard something by him 4LwFI2E1zQk If you want more, Préludes Book 1 includes a couple of famous numbers. Erik Satie (1866-1925) - miniaturist, dismissed during his lifetime as eccentric at best, rhythmically fluid, influenced the minimalists. Key works _Gymnopédies_ (you're most likely to know No. 1 S-Xm7s9eGxU ) and _Gnossiennes_ Bela Bartok (1881-1945) - angular, percussive, dissonant, rhythmically wild (time signature often varying from one bar to the next, including 7-time) (Hungarian folk music influence), hugely respected but less influential than the other two, didn't write Tunes so less popular, but could rock out. (A little recognised feature among classical composers, but someday I'll prove to you that Beethoven invented boogie woogie in 1822.) Most accessible work perhaps Music for strings, percussion and celesta L0bX1BVXJak

The Hammersmith live version is better because it features the great harmonica solos.

Oh man! This is a band I wished I saw live. Mark's voice is so distinctive. Life's What You Make It, off the same album, is my favorite. But this is a great live performance. Nice pick Jon!

Life's What You Make It is also my favourite of theirs. 😃

Thanks for this - it only takes a chance passing reminder and I know I'll be spending the next infinitum ('til threat of divorce) TOTALLY immersed in my Talk Talk/Mark Hollis catalogue. Just so COMPREHENSIVELY underrated which makes the enjoyment all the sweeter.
So, Cheers, from Limey Land.- Delve deep pleasure-seekers!!

I wasn't really a fan of Talk Talk in the 80s but I've come to appreciate them over the past 20 years or so. This was a great version. My ears perked up when Jon name checked King Creosote. Hopefully there'll be a song of his coming up soon. I heard he's got a new album coming out in November. I'm very much looking forward to that.

What's not to like about this. The only thing I didn't like about this song was the official video. Them goofing about upside-down. Not the only goofing video either. I wasn't sure whether it was because they didn't care about the videos or that they thought the song needed lightening up for the music tv.
