- I watched Beverly Hills Cop Axel F and it's bad. A really poor excuse for a film. It feels like content instead of filmmaking or even decent storytelling. A bad excuse for a movie. No life in this movie other than what Eddie Murphy brings naturally. Netflix sucks for this.
It annoys me that they keep doing this thing where they bring back all our favorite 80s hero characters but make them all sad old men hated by their families. They did it to Luke, Han and Indy, you'd think they'd change it up here. Now to Eddie's credit, he's got such a youthful appearance even for his age, such a humorous personality and love of life that shows in his eyes and spirit that he could never play a washed up old man, but sure enough, they had to make his wife and daughter hate him. The daughter yaps about how much she hates him through the whooooole movie and doesn't give him a break even though he's there to keep her from being freaking murdered.
I will say this, for all the bad, there was some good. There was some great action and some funny moments. Maybe they could learn from this and put some of these elements in new films. But if they bring another old hero back, how bout letting his wife and family like him?
So disappointed. Axel F. is a mediocre movie that fails to live up to the hype. The film is an average, uninspiring affair that relies too heavily on nostalgia rather than a compelling story. Instead of taking risks or offering anything fresh, it plays it safe, resulting in a by-the-numbers experience that leaves much to be desired. Fans of the franchise may find some enjoyment, but for those seeking an engaging and innovative action comedy, this movie falls flat.

I agree with you. I actually thought this sequel would be good given that Eddie kept turning down lots of scripts over the 30 years to ensure he got the right one to work with but I just can't understand why Eddie thought this would be good. I can only assume Eddie needs the money for all the alimony to his ex wives.
By the way, it’s funny how this movie literally takes shots at Beverly Hills cop three. While that is not a good movie it is literally twice as good as this piece of crap. At least it’s coherent with decent acting and some nice action. This Whole movie was terrible.
Thank you sir! I am glad I am not the only one who feels 3 was better than 4 and guess what? I actually liked 3 a lot, didn't like the Wonderworld location at all I will be honest, but the storyline was solid and it just lacked Taggert and a better location. Not my favorite of the 4, the best will always be number 2. Here's my order of best to worst - 2, 1, 3 and 4.

I watched the first half and that was enough for me. What the hell were they thinking with this plot revolving around the daughter and casting an actress that is literally probably the worst actress I’ve seen in the last 10 years. Holy shit what a piece of crap.

Lol! I had to go back and watch all three previous movies to remind myself how good they were because all of them (and yes I include 3) were better than 4 but my favorite will always be 2. I think the 2nd movie was better than the original, better storyline, character development, action sequences and better bad guy.

Beverly hills cop was over after the 3rd one. I agree. Bad story telling. The old characters is cool. But the movie was complete garbage.
The problem is that 40 years ago, everyone lived more carefree lives in a world untouched by today's "woke" culture. Back then, comedy thrived and blended seamlessly with action. Today, in 2024, there's hardly anything to smile about, and comedy seems to have disappeared in this "woke" world. Imagine Axel Foley, the iconic character from the 1980s, being transported 40 years into the future, finding himself in the bizarre reality of 2024. That would have made for a more realistic and appropriate movie.

You nailed it. The BHC movies don't really work in this woke or politically correct culture that has killed comedy for good. The same with other movies like 48 Hrs, it would never make it past the censors today but back in the 80s these movies were phenomenal and they still are phenomenal when you go back and watch them. It's like stepping back into a time portal where you can lose yourself in the fun and excitement. BHC4 was a major flop, nothing funny about it at all, clearly all watered down to get through the censorship and Eddie has lost that comedy sparkle he used to have. I heard that BHC5 is in the works but I am going to pass on that one. This franchise has turned into the Jurassic World saga, just another lame attempt to cash in on what used to be a profitable franchise. Undoubtedly a lot of easy to please fans will be happy about this movie but for true BHC fans you will know that 4 is a flop.
I agree with your analysis. This movie was just a cash cow to make money from the success of the original two movies even ripping off a lot of scenes, throwing in a few catchphrases and repeating the same songs. The storyline is abysmal, the acting is average, the main 3 characters are not even together until the end of the movie and Eddie has lost his sparkle at the age of 63 and the other two look completely worn out and haggard and hardly can play cops on the beat anymore. I had high hopes for this movie but sadly, even Beverly Hills Cop 3 is better than this rubbish. Apparently they are already working on 5 which makes me think they aren't even putting the effort into making it good because good sequels usually take a lot of time to materialize, and it's rare to get a good sequel these days. It's a big shame that 30 years after Beverly Hills Cop 3, 30 years to get a good script together but instead they gave us this rehash just to see the old guys "back in the saddle". Sorry folks, this movie was a MAJOR FLOP!

💯% agree in everything you said. It was bad. Eddie Murphy waited so long for the right script and this is what he signed off on? Gotta question the man's judgement. And they needed a director with some artistry in his veins. This movie looked so bland.

A 1st year film student could make a better movie than Beverly Hills Cop Axel F. I feel embarrassed for the studio releasing content with poor story boards like this . They must be reallly desperate for content to release garbage like this. This is the worst movie in the franchise.

This movie is for us the Gen X era , We love Eddie Murphy and understand his craft in the 80s, it is a,clean movie with no sex , violence or whatever else you was looking for, you say his movie is for old people well guess what We are old , We Gen X . You need to listen to his interview with New York post , Eddie Murphy talks about how he wanted the original director to do this movie.

Everyone's entitled to their opinions... If you didn't like it you didn't like it... But its fun for mostly all the actors to return which is rare these days just be grateful we got to see the characters again after 40 years

The video is just trying to get ypur attention: the movie is A LOT better than the third one. I't kinda empty, because it tries too hard to hit the nostalgia spot, but other than that it's a perfectly watchable movie

I didn't like it either. I did laugh a few times, and half of those didn't come from Murphy, but I don't watch a BHC movie to laugh a FEW times. I largely did not find it funny. His fast-talking charm didn't work in his situations, he wasn't clever with it, and at one point even Axel gave up on it saying he was too tired, and I feel like that was Murphy speaking truth about the movie altogether.
The story was all over the place, and nothing gave me a satisfying finish. It starts about a guy being set up, then we never see him again, and the story keeps piling on with the father daughter relationship, then Billy getting kidnapped, then Axel being set up, then meeting at a drug deal that's now going down, and just WHOA you're filling this up way too much.
Even the car chases didn't pay off. Like, "I'm gettin us back-up", "here's our back-up", "there goes our back-up".... well, why did you bother with it then?

I liked it. It was mean't to be mindless entertainment and it achieved its goal. It wasn't meant to be fine art that asks existential questions about our place in the universe.

Not even gonna watch ur video I paused it immediately just came to comment, the movie was actually really good. It knows it’s time and place and does everything really well. Character development and how the characters grew was great. Don’t listen to this guy watch it for urself and enjoy it. It was a long movie and I still watched it through no problem

Don’t listen to this guy. More than not are giving the movie pretty good reviews…for what it is. Nothing can ever top the first one, but this is a very respectable sequel all things considered. FAR better than 3 which I basically ignore and even Eddie Murphy hates. Everyone is entitled to their opinion I suppose. But there’s more positives than negatives and that should tell you something.
