My husband and I are recently retired and living a great life with a completely paid off mortgage. I made the decision many years ago to pay off our mortgage early; my husband disagreed believing putting the money into our brokerage account made more sense. The math might have agreed with him but in my heart, I knew heading into retirement completely debt free was the way to go for my sanity! Once our mortgage was paid off, we were very deliberate in funding retirement accounts, so I consider our decision a win-win. Living debt free is the best feeling. Good luck with your goals.

I plan to build a emergency fund and pay down credit card debt for my 2024 goals.
