Getting better with money without being perfect.
I've made plenty of financial mistakes but I've learned from them and so can you.
You don't have to be perfect to win with money. You just have to be motivated and consistent.
Thanks to budgeting and learning about money I paid off $82,000 in debt, built a $100k+ portfolio, and set my family on the path to financial independence.
You will see videos about:
- budgeting
- paying off debt
- saving money
- investing
- home ownership
- financial apps
Little actions we take with our money compound to hit BIG MONEY GOALS.
Every Tuesday we share our personal money moves toward our goals on "Transfer Tuesday", which I started in October 2019 to encourage myself to earn more money and pay off debt faster.

LIFE CHANGING MONEY? House Savings Update (TRANSFER TUESDAY)

I'm back from vacation with some financial updates and a renewed sense of desire to succeed!
My 2024 financial goals include:
-- Maxing my Roth IRA ($7,000)
-- Saving for a house downpayment ($10,000)
-- Pay cash for all vacations!
TRANSFER TUESDAY:
I started the Transfer Tuesday movement to motivate myself on my debt free journey to make more progress and celebrate smaller wins throughout the month. Each week I commit to doing SOMETHING no matter how small to move me closer to reaching my financial goals. It started with $5 in a week and sometimes I'm doing $500 or even $5,000. It's truly about forward progress each week.
Transfer Tuesday is the day of the week where I share our financial moves to stay on track and motivate others too. Y’all are amazing and have made this series something that is so motivating to me beyond what I could have imagined!
Every single week I'm committed to working on these goals. Making consistent progress every week is helping us get closer to our big dreams.
Thank you for joining me on Transfer Tuesdays and on my debt free journey where I’ve paid off $43,000 in debt while also living life, saving and investing too. I've been investing in my Roth IRA and paying off debt for a while and it's super fun to be able to show you that it is possible to do both at the same time and hit debt payoff goals too.
You don't have to sacrifice your entire lifestyle and all other financial goals just to pay off debt, invest for the future, or reach financial independence!

I cannot wait until they add invoicing... that would be amazing.
Honestly it’s the one feature I think they are missing that will help a lot of us! I know it’s in the pipeline to add eventually.
I'm not sure what amount of money would change my life but you've really got me thinking!
If I could get 100k, I would retire this year. Currently 59 yrs old and been working since I was 16. I am debt free.
Thank u for this video and having so much strength
Affording life I have a civil environmental engineering degree and get overtime. Affording life since I shop for the deals at the grocery store. Affording life since I invest and don't waste tonnes of dough on a bunch of non essentials. Affording life since I've been investing money in mutual funds for a long term future. Also that a career path in Canada and it pays less than the USA. House of 11 years almost paid off as well. Most people can't save at all. The key is to start out either still living with your folks for a few years while paying them rent money then bank all your money and work like 10 to 12 hour work days and bank all that cash towards a down payment. Will be a royal pain in these economic times. Maybe best to rent out a house with 4 or 5 people and live in a room. Find and move to a lower cost area. Maybe car pooling to work or ditching the car altogether if it gets extreme and using the bus to get to work. If you find a deal on food stock up like crazy on it. Fortunate enough to get more overtime than I want in this industry but it keeps the lights on. For being in a technician role for pile monitoring jobs and house footing inspections you are given a work truck. Paid gas and repairs. This is a huge boon and can put you in a insulated bubble. Also messed myself over and trying to get more geotechncial drilling jobs to actual get my P. Eng one day. My current position can be done by someone with a 2 year diploma at a technical school. Those guys in the feild work 11,12 and 14 hours a day in the summer up here. They get forced time off of like 4 to 6 weeks in the winter but with all the overtime in the summer they want some time off to live.
All the single guys I know including myself are doing fine. We knew we would have to support ours selves so we always live within our means and invest.
98,000 to pay off my mortgage would allow me to retire at 60 and would substantially change my life .
100k would pay off mine and my husbands student loans ($1400/month payments), but just 30k would pay off my car and a personal loan (house needed a new roof) which would free up $1000 a month. Our problem isn't the income because we can afford all of these monthly payments, but having the lump sum would save so much time and interest.
Are you still with wealthfront right now? Thanks!
I do have an account there still!
For me about $100k would change our lives. We don’t really have debt besides the house but this would help us feel WAY more comfortable. Right now we’re basically living paycheck to paycheck so it would be incredible.
Hmmm thats a tough one. My husband would love to be able to start a company on his own, but financially we cant take a risk like that at the moment. So maybe $500k to get us where we feel comfortable to then take that risk.
This week I had a meeting with admissions for a business school for a potential finance masters degree. I’m going to contact the career center to make sure that 3-4 courses wouldn’t be as effective for the jobs I want. I’d only be able to take one course at a time since I work full time and need to keep the health insurance, so I can’t cut back on hours. I’m very excited about the idea of a career change
100k because I've never seen that much before
It's a big amount!
70k would for me
$200,000 would change my life. It would pay off my mortgage. This is the only debt we have but is also our biggest expense. thankfully, because it js our only debt, we are doing ok despite inflation.
Having a paid off home is definitely life changing!
90k for debt payoff
Change Thanks for sharing
If there wasn't a max, I think 200k (post tax). It'd be enough to do all the home renovations needed. This way the work can be done & the money originally going to renovations can go towards debt paydown. 😊 I've started rounding down my checking account to the nearest $10 for savings, so $2 went to my rollover envelope. 😊 #change
Change. A million. We could pay off my student loans from undergrad and law school, pay off our mortgage and consumer debt, buy a new home, and put money in a trust for our daughter to provide for her needs and money in retirement so we could work because we enjoy it and not feel the pressure to hustle so hard. I love being an attorney, but I’m only a 9 months into practice (been licensed for 4 years but I worked for a judge so I was not allowed to practice) so it’s not like the money is rolling in yet. Hope to get there soon though!
5 to 10x annual income.
Ooohhh good answer
Change! There was a poll done in 2023 and for the average person 19k is life changing money. For me If I had an extra 50k that would change my life. I would use half towards a down payment on a condo and I would either invest the other 25k or pay off debt. With 50 Grand I would feel more ahead in life 🎉
Oh so interesting! I missed seeing that poll but I could see how that amount could change a lot of lives.
Yes Id love for you to do a video on it. I think either Nerd Wallet or Bank rate asked 1000 people how much they would need to change their life. Keep in mind most people can't afford a 1k emergency. So having 19k in Savings would be more than 6 months of emergency reserves and essentially life changing to those who have no buffer or margin in their budget.
the numerical number of the money isn't the value of the money.
Cost of living is effecting everyone seniors can't hardly eat ,family are struggling harder than ever before .you have got to be strong putting god first in your struggle to servive.God bless.
I joke a lot about needing $100k to finish all of our house projects. It would make a huge difference on my mental to-do list!
I totally get that! I have a list of projects that I’m pretty sure I will never get to based on time but more importantly the money.
OOh Good question. I guess the anser depends on what is considdered life changing? Each person has a different definition.
That’s the interesting part of the question and why responses vary so much!
I think if we got a lump sum to pay off our new mortgage, that would be life changing lol
For sure! My answer would pay off our existing mortgage.
$150k would pay off our mortgage and allow us to retire early in New Zealand
Love that! Where in NZ?
@@PenniesNotPerfection I'm in Christchurch :)
Im in Australia so houses are a lot more expensive here so I think 500,000 to pay the mortgage as that will give us an extra $3000 a month
Fair, it’s definitely a higher cost place to live!
Good question!! It would be A LOT, so that I could move my mom into assisted living/nursing home when the time comes. Your head would explode if you looked at the cost of that on a monthly basis 🤯🤯🤯
Oh I've seen it. Those prices are rough.
To be honest I am a little disappointed by this video, mainly because you spend more than the first third of it asking for comments over and over. I can understand you want to create engagement from your follower, but the most important is the value you bring by sharing your experiences and knowledge. Hope you'll consider my remark for upcoming videos :)
Oh well I appreciate the time it took you to comment after asking so many times for comments! I usually only ask for comments on what people did this week with their transfers but I also had a random question this week that I’m interested in! You haven’t commented before so it seems you maybe just found my videos on a different week. Or perhaps you’re a lurker but not regular commenter. Either way, thanks for watching!
Also you didn’t answer either question from the video so I’m a bit disappointed by your response.
Yay 🎉 yay 🕺🏾 transfer Tuesday. Just MAXED out my Roth I.R.A. for the year.🎉🎉 it would take 1 million to change my life. I would be able to retire and not work for the rest of my life.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Congrats on maxing out your roth ira! Great job!
@@PenniesNotPerfection thanks
Recently inherited $18 000 and it has changed my life. Paid off my debt, have a little to spare, the amount mental energy I’m not spending now is tremendous
That is amazing! The freed up mental energy is something money provides that we so rarely talk about.
🎉🎉🎉
With the price of housing right now we’d probably need 150-200k. With the equity we have plus the above we could roughly keep the payment we have (if we move out of state 😩)
That makes sense to me!
250k
2️⃣5️⃣0️⃣
100,000 would change my life . Thanks to you and following your videos , i became debt free last week . 36,000 paid off in less than 2 yrs on a low income 25,000 to 40,000 a year You can do it .
I am so proud of you!! Congrats on your debt freedom!! $36k on that income is AMAZING!!
$237k would cover remaining daycare obligation plus have one more baby. If that was taken care of, we might be able to buy a house. Change! ❤
Oooohhh that's actually a really good answer. Childcare until school age is so expensive for most of us! Covering that would really change lives.
CHANGE❤ 350,000 to buy our forever home 🏡 Great transfers
Ohhh love it! Forever home!
What is a life changing amount of money for you??
50-100k would change my husband and I’s life. This would allow us to pay off all credit card and a chunk of student loan debt. Although we are working on paying it off it’s a slow, long process. We’d be able to use our extra money to save for a down payment, traveling, or planning for a family.

500,000.00 but i would have someone distribute it to me. With adhd i can not trust myself anymore. Compulsive spending is easy for that dopamine. If you know anything about adhd this makes sense. ❤to all.
That self awareness is SO IMPORTANT! Especially with ADHD which has a huge impact on how you handle money. We deal with ADHD here and it totally makes sense.
If you had it and invested it in a dividend fund (mutual fund) it would be similar
250k as that is what I owe on five rentals. If and when I pay that loan off, it will increase my cash flow.
Nice! $250K on FIVE rentals isn't bad at all!
I feel like if we sold our house rit now we make almost 130k off it i think that would chnage my life..Making 130k is a ton...we r thinking maybe in spring but that would let us put alot down on new home and pay off a car. We just paid off all of our credit card debit and it feels amazingghhh❤ CHange

500,000
This amount seems like a common answer!
My husband said 3 million
Hey heyyy now that’s a life changing number!
500,000. My wife would retire tomorrow. I’m already retired. Would need my adult children to move out asap.
Sounds amazing! How old are your kids if you don’t mind me asking?
@@PenniesNotPerfection 24, 23, 21. They are working full time and saving to move out, but not fast enough!🤣🤣🤣❤️
They are close tho!
You seem to need a ton of money, I am curious
I sold my condo after 3 years and got after everything over 100 k and def changed my life!!!!
That’s amazing! It definitely seems like an amount that would be just enough to change your life!
I'm so content in my retirement, at 56. I really don't want to change anything... so I'm going to say 25,000$ to remodel my house! Have a great week, everyone 🎉🎉
I love this for you!
Your happiness is contagious
You said it. And nobody I know isnt making it ! Real talk.
