You as well love.
Who makes gourmet sweet potato gnocchi on a $5 budget? Brooke does that’s who. Amazing!!!!
Brooke at Southern Frugal momma did. 5.00 a day video
Gourmet? Gnocchi is an old italian depression era dish.
@@elizabethashton9590 Gourmet because it’s sweet potato. Lol
I love that we all think of it as "gourmet" but she literally only added flour. Simple gourmet. I never realized it was so easy. She makes me think there are so many more things I could be doing ...on a week night even!
I love your no nonsense approach to feeding families. No apologies just common sense. Thanks again for a great video
$5.00 for 3 meals 😱😱😱 what kind of magic is this !!! ❤😂😂😂
and for the Gnocchi (doesn t add extra cost):
after you have cut them in small pieces, as you did - you then use your hands to roll all these little pieces into round small balls (this will keep them FIRM and not dissolving later in the water or pan). Then slightly sprinkle a bit of flour on them so they are not too sticky, and now comes the part that turns them into Gnocchi shape: You take a normal kitchen fork and press the fork tines into/onto the ball, this will giive them shape. 😊
A dollar saved is a dollar earned💞
After I boil my gnocchi I toss it in garlic butter and bake it for thirty minutes. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and toss with my favorite steamed veggies. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. The biscuit and veggie pot pie will be a great way to use up all the leftover turkey this weekend. Thanks for another great budget meal plan. I prefer granola to oatmeal so that is what I would do with the leftover oats.
Yummmm. I will have to try this as I love Sweet Potatoes
Ohhh! That sounds great!
Look forward to watch as I get ready for work…….. you are so sweet….. like the sister we all want ….. much appreciations
Oatmeal is our cheap go-to breakfast. Filling. Good for you. Lots of fiber and protein. I love roasted sweet potato peelings. I dip them in a cinnamon-butter-brown sugar dip.Sweet potatoes are loaded with potassium, protein & fiber. Vitamin C Iron, Niacin, Magnesium, Calcium. I even like sweet potato soup kinda like butternut squash soup. Chicken pot pie with Jiffy Mix. SUPER idea. You will never starve. Love ya bunches
Hello Nancy
How are you today?
I always enjoy your videos but this one is the best yet! I loved the unique menu. Thanks for the time and effort it takes to make so many people feel like we are hanging out in a friends kitchen figuring out life together.
Hello Margaret
thank you dear I hope you know how much you mean to us all. you have helped us so much in feeding r family. much love to you
When my girls were little how I made lunch meat ( we were so dirt poor and my 2 minimum wage jobs kept roof over our heads but I had to get creative) I went to meat market and bought cow toung I scrubbed it good and made a hole from large end through tward tip, I then filled it with home made pico ( chopped onions, garlic, tomatos, jalapeños and celantro) sewed up the end to keep filling inside and boiled the toung till almost done then cooked it rest of way on grill. Sliced thin and it was lunch meat for a week. Back then I had to make meals to feed girls and myself because after rent, lights, car insurance, after school care we were lucky to have 30.00 till next biweekly paycheck, gas was a lot cheaper back then so I feel for families today struggling with food prices, rent, holy cow daycare! So hope this tip helps someone to think out of the box to help fill tummy
Tip from a Eye Talian usually they boil gnocchi potatoes with the skin on!
That sounds better actually. Sweet potatoes are so firm, it’s a pain to cut them up. I’ll try that.
I think you did great! Everything looked tasty and filling...what more could anyone want? Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours😁
Happy Thanksgiving!!
Brooke I came across your channel a few weeks ago. I enjoy the videos and my family enjoys the meals! Thank you for what you do!
Great job! This was pretty nutritionally balanced for such a low budget.
Thank you Brooke. I just returned back to work so I am in that several week gap before pay day 😮. These videos are a huge help to me.
I made the chicken and biscuits night before last but used cooked egg noodles instead of biscuits because I had them on hand. And added a you che of poultry seasoning and lemon pepper. My family acted like it was a 5 star gourmet meal!
Gotta send this video to my nephew who’s in college; he blows his paycheck when he first gets it and then complains about he and his roommates eating ramen for the next week! Thank you!
I just picked up a package of boneless pork chops at Walmart reduced to $5.78 15 portions in the package ! It can be done as you have shown if anyone takes the time and energy to shop around.
Hello Jill
How are you doing today?
When I was a little kid I liked to eat raw sweet potatoes and my family thought I was weird. Until you said that I thought I was the only person in the world who likes raw sweet potatoes.
OOOH sweet potato gnocchi! I should buy some more while they are on sale
not sure how i found you but ... I freakin love your channel and you.. I love that you keep it real! I hear people all the time say how they wont eat this or that because their parents fed it to the all the time growing up. However to me I cant make or eat those hardship meals enough, to me that is TRUE comfort food. TY and I will be back
You know my adopted great grand mother was from Italy, grand father was from Sicily. Yes there is a difference if you lived there back then😮. Well Gma Mary said if you put enough love in your food that is what counts. If you want a treat or two this is what she taught me. If you have fresh herbs dice them very small and put it into your dough. Or put some cimmamon, nutmeg in the dough, fry them in hot oil them toss them in sugar brown or white or both. If you get suprised with guests you can add white potatoes, even left over mashed potatoes work well. 🎉
Great ideas as always. The fact that u can make three meals on a $5 budget, with these prices on groceries is amazing! Thanks for all the tips and advice. Blessings to u all
So glad I found you on youtube. I think we all need to learn how to cook more frugal with food prices rising. TFS
Love it . Your veggies and biscuits casserole looks yummy
Hello Lisa
How are you doing today?
I also love sweet potatoes! And I eat the skins raw. I love all kind of things made with sweet potatoes 🍠!
another awesome vid and theres so many ways to amp up each meal.. add a jelly packet to the oatmeal.. add some tomato soup to the gnocchi.. a can of chicken to the biscuit bake..
Hello There
How are you doing today?
This is one of my favorite five dollar meals videos. Keep up the great work. You are helping us all. God Bless
Very creative, Brooke. Thank you for showing ways to feed your family or just yourself by trying something new in the kitchen! Bravo!
I am so amazed by you, I am going to share your videos. I am certain in these times people will appreciate you and your ideas.
Thank you for sharing your ideas.
I've never seen that cheap bag of oats whenever I search walmart's website for oats but I searched the brand and it popped up. Added a few bags to my shopping cart. Oats are so expensive lately!
Love these videos! Thank you! The only unfortunate part is that depending on where you live, there might not be the stores you shop at to get those low prices. I'm in MA, and the prices are high (unless you get a really good sale). We have Walmart here, but not Aldi and a few other places you have shopped at in various videos.
Hopefully your area will get an Aldi soon! Their sells sure help grocery budgets. I tend to stick to Walmart more than anything cause I know most have access to one. If their prices aren’t exactly the same, they tend to be close.
@@SouthernFrugalMomma Do you go to a Walmart Supercenter, or a Walmart without one?
Amazing! I just lost my job, so this is very helpful! Thank you Brooke! I love your channel ❤
I have my phone program when your show comes on alarm goes off on my phone and it went off at 8:02 this morning so it's just got on my phone looking forward to see what you got going today and God bless

Your the sweetest thing! Just love love love your channel!❤😊
A little sage in with the butter for that gnocchi would be bomb...and perfect for fall.
Girl!! You are a magician in the kitchen!!!! Thank you for sharing! I just found you and I’m going watch all your content!! I’m subscribed now! I’m not missing anything!!
This was awesome! Was nice to not see rice and beans for once 😂
Good creative use of limited ingredients! You could grind up some of the oats to flour for the gnocchi if you’re really strapped. A can or two of Vienna sausages added to the casserole may prove budget friendly. Have a happy thanksgiving!🦃
I love watching ur videos n ur meals look so good, being a diabetic I can't have them, so I'm always looking for ways to sub ingredients. Wishing you n ur family a Happy n safe Thanksgiving
Looks like you have a fun, happy, household!!!!!!!

Also made the canned mix veg with cream of mushroom since my son is vegetarian and it was awesome!! Thank you so much!

I really like your budget meal videos. We have a family of 6. I would love to see some ideas with just a little higher budget.
Love these! Great inspiration!
for a change up: if you don't want to go with biscuit mix on top of the chicken and veggies, you could mix up a package of stuffing and put that on either the top or the bottom...dts/usa
Love these vids - always nice to see a new way to do things
Love you Brooke! Happy Thanksgiving to you an your family!

I love oatmeal. So that was a great breakfast. You lunch and dinner looked delicious. I use to get low on money, well I still do but I grocery shop sales and I have been adding a few extra cans of food here and there so it leaves me a bigger budget when there's good meat sales. I usually pressure can it and it makes super quick meals.

Lawdy, Ms Brooke...was watching somebody on CZcams that was spose to be a budget shopper...😬...I just had to leave that channel, she was giving me heart palpitations, no rhyme or reason for the shopping, was "I want it, I'm getting it"...had come find your channel, dear, to calm my soul...
The chicken pot pie looked really good! Im amazed what you can do with $5. On another subject, I wanted to tell you that dinner for me tonight was beef enchiladas Rojas with Spanish rice and free-ride beans!
I put a little cinnamon in my oatmeal, which is a pantry item for me.
You did really good on the budget Brooke. That veggie pot pie casserole looked very yummy 😋
