My FIRST Audemars Piguet Watch? - AP Royal Oak Offshore!

- The AP Royal Oak Offshore for many is usually the first AP that they buy. For me it was the Safari themes model. This watch is a very special watch to me because it was a big step in my watch collection journey. I tend to think that the AP Offshore models tend to be the gateway into the Audemars Piguet brand. Something about it that makes it very approachable and very different then a much more commonly known brand like Rolex for example. AP is the next level. I bought this watch about 7 years ago and at that time it was really a bigger deal than it is now. Compared to a Batman that cost now days $18k this back then was a heavy hitter in steel. Once I had this watch for about a year or so I really started to get infatuated with the Royal Oak line. Once I was able to buy one I really realized that the thinner more elegant Royal Oak in 41mm is really the game winner out of the bunch. It just felt like a much more versatile model compared to the bigger Offshore. I remember loving the look of the thick rubber O-Ring seal between the bezel and case on the Offshore. It gave it a look that no other model could offer.
I bought this watch new with full stickers and at the time I got a great deal at $12,500. I wore it for 3 months with the stickers and then realized how ridiculous it looked because the stickers started to shed like a snakes skin lol! This is a cool watch and is a special watch to me and wanted to share this story in my watch collecting journey with you.
Comment below what you think I should so with my AP Offshore Safari!

The essence of a true watch guy is in the storytelling about the piece right down to where and how a hairline scratch occurred! Brilliant stuff. Coolest watch channel out there!
“I even had a Hublot Big Bang stainless steel ceramic bezel..............whatever” - Damn, that’s good stuff!!!
Lolol🤷🏻♂️
Pride and pinion will love this 🤣
Poor Hublot. Always going to be sitting at the kids table at Thanksgiving.
Said it once... said it a million times... this is the best channel about watches! Eric please keep that AP!
Great video. I really like the personal touch content about your own collection. I too got my first AP this year, a 26400io ROO. Your assessment is spot on!
Bought my first offshore last year, a 26480TI Blue dial and blue rubber strap. I couldn't agree with you more about it being my entry in to the AP world. I've been craving a Royal Oak 15500 for months.
I do love my Offshore for all the reasons you've described. For what it cost is certainly feels like a heavy hitter, especially when it cost the same as a yellow gold Rolex Submariner before the 2020 prices increases.
I love how left arm aware you are. I know and understand that feeling well.
As always, your content is awesome. Look forward to the next one, such a dude!
Gateway is perfect description. I first fell in love with the Safari with the brown sundials which ultimately lead me to purchase my first AP the 41 ROC blue dial from Bal Harbour. Great review! Keep it up.
Eric thanks for sharing us this story with this watch. More videos like this please.
I’ve always loved that model....it’s so perfect, that cream color with the texture of the tapisserie 🔥🔥
Eric! My first AP is a an off shore titantium blue dial and i love it. You have such honesty in this video, hats off! Keep up the great videos
Thank you Chris!
I had one myself back when released, It had the serial number #3, I loved it for the same reasons as you, but foolishly sold it at a loss! It is gone but not forgotten...Great video as always!
Man, Erick you have one of my dream watches. It’s always been the strap that does it for me, I feel like it helps achieve the perfect balance of luxury, casual, and sporty ness at times. I’ve made it a personal goal to work and save my pennies to be able to acquire one when I graduate college or before. Thanks for sharing !
You can do it!
I never subscribed a chanel on youtube just because of the cool dude.
Gets an thumbs up in the first minute of the video just because of his relaxed vibes - content is awesome as well !
Best regards from Germany
Love my Safari, my second AP. The deployment does dig into you, I got mine on the steel bracelet now it’s a lot more comfortable. The watch is the warmest, most natural dial AP got, and I do see also they are becoming scarce, hold onto it and would never sell mine. Great video Eric Happy Thanksgiving, Jeff.
Love this Eric! 50K soon!! Keep up the content :D
It’s on the way!
I really like this video. Please do more of this type of videos where you share your experience with your watch. Thanks
🙌🏼🙌🏼💯
Thanks for the review! I was just thinking about getting one so it's perfect timing👌
There ya go!
Keep it for sure. The first premium watch you buy has special memories. Subsequent buys never have that same feeling.
Recently got the 42mm full rose gold with the black dial. Luv it, not my first one though - that was the black ceramic diver. I’ll aim for a perpetual calendar next, will take me a few years though. You just gotta love the watch game
Eric I really appreciate your channel I'm a big fan! You are the man........
Thank you Robert 🙌🏼⌚️💯
A good looking watch and a nice story. Keep up the good work 😎
That dial color is very unique. That watch was never on my radar but may have to consider it at some point. I’d def go with black rubber.
Great job as always.
Never forget my first AP! Great vid.
😎💯🙌🏼
Cool video man. Glad you got those stickers off 😂 the watch isn’t my cup of tea but I love the story behind this and think it actually really suits you dude!
Always loved the AP Safari. Cant really say why because i usually dont like white dials. But on the AP offshore is absolutely beautiful!
Despite I can’t tell you about my first AP what can I tell you is the video was good 😎
This was my first AP as well! And I’ve scratched mine. But I love it and won’t wear it. It’s a terrific summer watch!
really enjoying your chill attitude and the content, as a friendly suggestion ''s'' is silent with AP, cheers!
🙌🏼😎💯
I am contemplating to get me one😋😋😋 i just love the design and the way it looks. I still need to think a bit more but i just know I'll get me one
Awesome as always 😎👍🏼
Another great review keep it up
Keep the watch Eric. U only have one first. Lol. Keep up the great videos. Happy thanksgiving to u and ur family
Thank you. Happy thanksgiving to you as well!
In my world, it is still a "heavy hitter". As always, thanks for sharing your story.
My 1st AP the diver chrono blue . Man I love that watch I wore the hell out of it for 2 years straight. Didn’t wear it all year long until 2 weeks ago and damn didn’t realize how much I missed it . It’s back on my wrist once again . I’m never selling it you shouldn’t either lol
I have in love with the ROO a long long time, and always been my dream watch. But after I watched your RO perpetual cal, this looks chunky and less elegant. The RO is definitely next level stuff and my new dreamer.
Stunning watch
Hi Eric,
I´m happy that you are coming up so fast and doing so good tho I miss the cars.....do you still have the Chevelle?
The first one is always a keeper! keep up the good work!
Hasta la próxima!
I've got the Navy (2018) and love it. i agree with you, the ROO seems to be the AP that makes you take the leap after Rolex. Beautiful watch
Yes💯
I have the blue montauk 300 made and is a beautiful piece.... great video
Awesome AP would love to have one of those myself!
You can do it!
Great video Eric as always. Since you asked in my opinion you should sell the watch, once you start considering about selling anything it's because you no longer feel it or dare I say it's no longer a heavy hitter piece for you any more .
Great walk down memory lane Eric. I’ve been looking for the AP “Gateway” watch too. The Safari, Elephant, and Navy are what I’m deciding on. What say you on the 3?
great vid my dude! love it when you jus shoot the sh*t and tell stories about the watches!! more please!
p.s happy Thanksgiving to you and yours
Thanks man!
In my opinion, the "old" Safari is the best Offshore incarnation ever.
Absolutely agree about the horribly uncomfortable clasp, a bit like the Panerai deployant clasp also
Yes that one also
Wow and love the story behind it. Great to know you still have it and it's looking in great condition. For me the Diver first caught my attention, then the 44mm and then the 15400 (now 15500).
I love the diver
OMG! that was my first AP too. I bought it back in 2007 and sadly I sold it in September of this year 😔.
Lovely piece....think you know you are going to keep it! Is your platinum day date a keeper? Love to see a follow up on that alongside the white gold one.
Got mine 2 days back. At a good deal. Not the safari but the black croc and white dial. Not sure if it has a nickname. Absolutely love it. And it is my first AP. Next target is the royal Oak.
Great tip on the band!!
🙌🏼⌚️
AP nailed it with the Safari. It’s gorgeous.
That’s a heavy duty looking AP!! Don’t worry about it getting dinged up. They’re meant to be worn and beat up.
It’s definitely tougher ones
The Safari is legend. This is the watch I think of when I hear AP (this and the jumbo).
Nice Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Safari, he is a keeper.
Hahaha que loco Hermano, yo tuve que hacer lo mismo con mi AP rose gold, cambie la posicion de los straps porque me pegaba exactamente en ese hueso 😎🤘💪💚🍻✌️
It looks elegant keep it. That's one of my chill & read a book spots btw. Great content keep em coming!
You know!
I think it's cool. You should keep it and try to include it in your rotation more often. Swap the hornback for a black strap if brown isn't your thing. Thanks for the video.
Thank you Tim!!
It was the other way around for me. First AP was a classic date only royal oak with the white dial. 2nd AP was the AP diver with the black dial and honestly I love it more than the classic royal oak (the royal oak chrono however is a different story as it is way better than both)
sick collection :-)
Nice piece Eric, I like your Safari but the one I prefer is the Navy blue
Also a great one
Eric, another great video! Btw, next time go to happy hour with a Rolex instead of an AP :)
My favourite AP, maybe I'm being bias but it the cream dial is amazing.
Love the dial.
I think the offshore for me has to be the best watch ever! It just goes with everything!! I first bought one in 2010 when I sold my day date 41 yellow gold for the offshore RG. Then sold all and recently bought the 44mm offshore and sold it for the day date green dial rose gold hahahah!! Now I’m jait dying to get the mew 42mm wkth the black dial! We even spoke on insta regarding it!! Don’t think there’s any watch as dynamic as the 42mm RG offshore!!
The Safari was my first AP as well, and I regret selling it. If I had to do it over again, I’d keep it and give it to my Son!
Absolutely love AP. Easily the nicest watches out there. One day 👍🏻
Nice video as always Eric! What do you think of the latest version 26470ST? Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving 🍁 🥃
First scratch on my AP ROO bezel... that’d be a good game to play
I like this watch that strap is really nice , I live on an island off the west coast of Canada and there is a shoemaker here and he does lots of custom leather work besides shoes , he makes belts , horse gear , saddles , leather bags and I bet I could get him to make me some watch straps , they would be one of a kind pieces and that would be great !
killer piece, always was, always will be ;-)
If you can afford to keep it, keep it. It's a special piece!
nice watch Eric
love this
My next watch will be the offshore or deep-sea love both those watches
And just to add after years when I could buy again I bought the Royal Oak chocolate and I love it BUT I don’t think it’ll ever be complete till I don’t have the offshore!!
I own a few Rolex subs and wanted the AP Safari for a while...after 2 years of back and forth, I just pulled the trigger on my first AP, the 153O0 Royal Oak black dial...I’m excited to take delivery and wear it extensively instead of my 16610 submariner date...now that I’m in the AP club, what’s next??? I vote that you keep it and enjoy it.
Hi Eric, any issue with watch accuracy meeting the COSC spec after so many years
Eric, do a redoo review on the AP 41 chronograph ,,,,, that was a killer review !
My journey was black Diver and then Safari. Still have them both.
Niceeeeee
luxury and casual it looks very masculine. AP did great job with this one
💯⌚️😎
that's a keeper
Hey Eric what are thought on the Vacheron Constantin fiftysix I'm thinking buying one and what do you think about the value of maybe you video about it
Eric- If were to sell either of the APs that you scratched, would you have them polished before selling or would you sell them as is?
Nice watch
Keep it man. Its clean, sexy, & tough. Cant beat that
Eric, given today's prices for AP Royal Oaks in steel, woud you buy from a second hand dealer or wait until prices come back to earth?
I had the same issue with the clasp.
Nice
Eric - What is your wrist size that made the deployant clasp uncomfortable?
Keep it, very unique
Looks like my Breitling Seawolf white dial :-)
Eric, I've always wondered because of the unusual way AP straps are connected to the case. Can you interchange them yourself like a lot of other watches. Or do you have to get AP to do it for you?
Its a bit technical. But if you are handy. Its not that hard
Hi Eric I wanna buy Rolex but iam confused between yacht master40 rose tow tone and gmt tow tone root beer I want ur opinion thank you
W.E. - how many watches are in your collection today ? in that collection - which is # 1 ? >. ~ JDS/CT
I was wearing my Batman for months before I got every single sticker off too ha ha
Yeah you sound a lot like me. But I’ve got my steel Chrono and I have yet to figure out how to put the rubber strap and leather strap on it. I have all the parts, I just need a rainy day. I still cringe when I think of the scratch I put on the bezel
Nahhh!
Nice video mate !
I kinda like it!
It's a lovely watch and very much on my radar should I have the money. it's still worth $15000+++.
I agree!
eric did'nt mention owning an omega.........they're probably my fave brand.........slightly gutted, as eric is the king of watch cool for sure!!!
Keep it brother
Yess
