Phil, one word .. Starlink. It's not "mobile" yet. But it IS movable. meaning when you're stationary, speeds around 270/20 off with ~40ms ... is a game changer.

      @sfcdale Před 3 lety +1

I am waiting till starlink is out of beta and they will sell me Dishey McFlat face.
I will of course to try it mobile. But the rub is going to be you need an open sky some where around 160 ish degrees facing north. I think it will be much more useful in the Open planes in the West then the tree covered east.

FYI there is parking available in Winslow AZ at I-40 exit 253 by McDonalds and a Safeway grocery store across the street. It is a dirt lot with some deep holes so be carful. A lot of truckers use it because the truck stop fills up quick.

Thanks for the video and everything you do for our Veterans! Hubby is a Vietnam Veteran and he is a retired DOD employee and I retired from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs. We got the Military Living 2021 RV, Camping travel guide after you showed it on one of your videos. We usually just check the military website but this gives us more details in one place. Our favorite Military RV campground so far is Blue Angels Recreation Area in Pensacola, FL. We didn't think we could stay on military bases because Hubby was just in the army 3 years but because he retired after 32 years with the Department of Defense that made him eligible. We found that out from a couple we ran into while in Alaska so we got to stay on base in Anchorage and in Seward Alaska. He has a retired DOD badge so we had ID. Hope we run across you two some day. Maybe at Gunterhill COE in Alabama.

Guys, thank you for communicating with Sam's Club before over-nighting there. There are so many people that refuse to do that courtesy to businesses, thinking that they are somehow entitled to park on someone else's property without permission. This will potentially ruin this great opportunity for RV's.

My truck broke down (had to get a long block replacement) there a few months ago so was stuck in my RV trailer for over a month while it was repaired and it was the best place to break down. Gorgeous town and great weather. Didn't have to use the AC at all and I'm very hot blooded and hate the heat.

A can of Coke Classic will melt off stubborn, dried, stuck on bugs…especially Love Bugs. Just pour it on your windshield or vehicle body, wipe down, and rinse. You can also remove acid from your battery. Just liberally pour it on the battery and let in boil it off. Rinse well.

I use a TSD fuel card. It is usually more options if traveling on an interstate. That gives you more options for fuel savings. I don’t have much savings at Loves. If your not careful you will pay more with the discount there than what it cost you across the street. I do like the savings though, I have saved 60 cents a gallon before. It all helps. Be safe!

Re. Small Cracker Barrel lots. Last February we stopped at a Cracker Barrel in Covington, LA that ended up having a small lot. There was an Academy Sports next to it with a nice roomy parking lot. I asked the manager there if it would be OK for us to overnight in his lot and he gave us the green light. We had dinner at Cracker Barrel and stopped into the Academy after where I picked up a light jacket I needed. Sure appreciated their hospitality!

Just in case some don’t know… Since Walmart & SAM’s Club has cut out a lot of Over-Night stays I had a hard time in 2020 traveling with work especially with almost all the KOA’s closed. I found out by accident that Cabela’s & Bass Pro have “Welcome RV’s” signs up in all of their parking lots and some had direction of where to park so that you don’t interfere with deliveries or customers. It really saved me in one hand, but since I went inside several times it cost me since I Just Had to Buy something! LoL

@@todayissomeday Thanks for letting me know where that Walmart is located. No, it wasn't a medical retirement for our son. I should have said military separation, but I'm not always up on the terminology. He just got tired of all of the politics. His other reason was that he wanted to be able to be near his paternal grandparents, ages 91 and 93, who are both in a nursing home in a small town in SE Montana near where he was raised. He was really close to both of them growing up there.

Even in my regular truck (I don't have a rig yet), I can only drive a maximum of 4 or 5 hours in a day, and 5 is really pushing it. By that time, I'm needing a nap, fighting highway hypnosis, and needing to pull over for the night. I've always been that way; need frequent breaks of 20+ minutes besides. As I get older, it's getting worse; I wouldn't like to drive more than 3 hours in one day now. I don't see how you guys, or those long-haul truckers do it!

Wow. We also had the inactive fuel card issue. Once I finally reached them on Monday it was an issue within their system.
We are willing to do 8-10 hour days. We get an early start then lounge when we get in. Need AC when it is hot out so will usually pay for electric in the summer
We also try to stay on the top half of the tank. Forces more stops but also more breaks

HI and be careful out there and travel safely. We are Dan & Jackie Roten. We are full timers and go by OVER THE HORIZON. We don’t have anything like CZcams. We are both retired from our jobs. I’m also a veteran twice US ARMY

The great thing about traveling in an RV is that, even if we have a long day, we can stop multiple times, take a nap, potty, eat and refresh before continuing on. Always be safe and always arrive in good stead. 😁

Phil, I am bit surprised that you are unable to run A/C with your solar set up......how much more solar do you think it will take to operate the A/C? My admiration to you guys for what you do for our Veterans!!!!

Technically we have the power to run the A/C but they are not wired through the inverter. It is on the todo list but not a priority.
