This video, in my honest opinion, is perhaps the most important one on this channel. I couldn't agree more with every single point that Vy made.
I recently started working in a new company as a UX Design Lead, just a week ago. My number one priority at this moment is to build trust and a strong connection with PMs and executives. Work closely with other departments from day one, actively listen to what they have to say, and make an effort to understand their goals and vision. Don't hesitate to ask questions and determine what they expect from you - how you can assist them. Believe in yourself and allow them to rely on your expertise and knowledge. And one more thing - it's never too late to build a better connection.
Stay awesome everyone, and to you Vy - well done Sir!

This is an extremely important topic that you will not learn about in any UX BootCamp or course. It is by far my biggest challenge in the enterprise product development space. Thanks for this, your videos always so relevant to my day to day work.

Thanks for the video - dysfunctional team dynamics are a consistent theme in the world of UX. However, leaders / content creators basically all have the "status quo" response which is, yes, this is a problem but it's intractable, will never go away, is here to stay. Better work on your evangelizing skills and get ready for another uphill battle on the next team you are dropped onto. If we accept the problem as intractable then it will actually never go away. Why not try and come up with solutions (other than its about relationship building or education) that, for example, involved corporate structure and integrating UX within orgs? Locating problems and providing solutions is what we are trained to do but when faced with this problem we tend to fall back on "it is what it is" for some reason I can't understand. This problem causing a lot of UXers a lot of pain.

Great point made, Vy. One of the big growth milestones UX pros have is knowing how to overcome frustration and take informed action to help those around us towards shared goals.
One thing you didn't touch on is when exactly to give up - it's s tricky one, I'll grant you, although still important to consider. I think there's a tipping point in terms of effort and people like the OP do have to consider what is their own and where action has diminishing returns. There are many dysfunctional environments where impact cannot be realistically made and it's okay to move on after a solid effort.

Hey, I have a video specifically covering when to quit and how to think through it

Wow! I'm also facing the same problem where my manager is least interested in UX principles and she wants to make the product on her own way. She also brings in the development team and start with whatever she thinks without considering the UX for rush timelines. I also feel the same.
