He's right. I took one look at Twitter when it came out and thought it wasn't for me. I've never used it and I've never felt any pressure to use it, and I'm glad. I get that it can be a way for people to connect with artists etc. but on the Internet half of everything we say is thoughtless and stupid, and nearly every comment section or discussion results in people fighting. Who needs that?

RVD is underrated legend
As much as I loved the WM40 main event, man I wish Austin's final appearance was during that match. Hearing the glass shatter would've been monumental. Oh well, the match we got was still incredible.
True. Even to just appear and distract, no need to get physical, just the music alone and Rock selling the surprise and looking at Austin up the ramp, would have been epic.
I definitely agree that it would have been amazing to see Austin there, and overall I am glad that he's not intending on adding an unnecessary taint to his legacy by wrestling a disappointing match, and what we got was an incredible spectacle and event.
Now, with it being said that it would have been great to hear the glass break and to see the surprised look on the Rock's face... that made me think. Any easy involvement, non-wrestling, major pop, and perfect utilization would have been after the Rock took out Cena I believe was the moment where it would have been great to have the glass break - get the pop - the Rock has a shocked look on his face as he stares at Stone Cold standing on the ramp and then the lights go out and the dong sound goes and when the lights return Austin is gone, but the Undertaker is standing behind him still to chokeslam and continue the finish from there as is.
I think it would be simple enough, not doing anything that risks tainting things, but just enough for the added pop and surprise with the switch to the Undertaker. I hadn't thought of it specifically in that way until reading the two comments here.

Video Idea: You could do a series on finishers. Each episode would cover the move, who invented it, who made it most famous, who did it the best (possible single instances of move), variations of the move that people use, possibly going over how realistic the move is/how much damage could legit happen to a person if the move was done to them. Just an idea.

Growing up and being a teen during the Attitude Era was kind of the perfect age to enjoy everything that the era had to offer. When the transition to the Ruthless Aggression Era began to happen, between a mixture of finding a lot of the people coming out to be incredibly bland - all guys in good shape but just seemed to lack a lot of personality, which after the Attitude Era that was full of, well, attitude. Personality was huge. So there was that, and then right around that time coincided with me turning 18, moving from Canada to New Mexico, USA, and getting married shortly after which left little time for wrestling and since I didn't care for the product really by that point, feeling as though all of my guys had largely come and gone, I just didn't continue to follow it.
It would be many years later, divorced and with free time I didn't know what to do with, and only honestly within the last handful of years, starting with just listening to the Stone Cold podcast which initially was more so just snippits rather than any full episodes and so it was on very random, often not even wrestling related stuff. Then I started seeing his stuff pop up more and it is just easy to listen to the guy talk and so it got to the point where he was talking about older matches, some classics, one's that I grew up with, remembered pretty relatively clearly. Then he started talking about older matches and wrestlers from the Attitude Era, and talking to other guys from then, and it got me reminiscent of such times. Plus he was adding a layer that when I was young, I just really didn't think about such as ring psychology, what goes into being a good heel and being able to get heat, and just all kinds of things that added layers that sparked a renewed interest in just matches from my day, and going old school to before my day when it was the territories and watching all of the greats and real old school legends like Harley Race. From all of that stuff being in my watch history, a lot more newer matches were popping up in my suggestions, but kind of like before, it was actually hearing Stone Cold and some other classic guys talking about the "newer" guys that came after them and got me more interested. Then I slowly started exploring further and realized that a lot of the guys and everything that I didn't care for in the new guys, would change pretty radically once they truly found themselves as a wrestler and a character.
As I started rewatching older matches and developed new appreciation for all kinds of wrestlers that I just never had much interest in, I was able to see which one's while they may not have been the face of the company at any point, were great workers and a stable entity, or just the fact that a lot of times it turned out the reason I disliked a wrestler wasn't because they were bad or anything, but because they were a heel who was actually good at getting heat and making it feel real, like you actually disliked them when in reality they were perfectly filling their role.
Then I expanded and did start watching more from the guys that I missed watching their development over the years and would watch highlights, documentaries, or just wrestlers talking about them until I gained significant appreciation and respect for their in-ring work and their ability to evolve and adapt their character, growing all around as a wrestler. It turned out that while I wasn't interested in wrestling, a slew of talented people would just continue coming out year after year. One wrestler who I have really grown an appreciation of as just being an amazing wrestler is Bryan Danielson who is clearly one of those few truly top-tier wrestlers with just such a catalogue of incredible work. It is always a shame when one of the greats has to retire, and while I hope that through surgery, rehabilitation, and whatever other treatments that he is able to fully recover, even if he does, as much as I really wouldn't want him out of the scene, taking this time to really consider retirement might be safest for him, especially if medical professionals are able to get him in good condition, it would be great to be able to end in the industry without his body being an absolute wreck. Having said that, I don't know how much he is quite ready to retire and leave the thing he loves so much behind, without it ending on his terms.

Austin Retiring is the best decision. He doesn't owe anyone, including us, anything. He did his time. Gave us our memories, he's good. Thank you, Steve.

If if it really is that bad that you know being in the ring is a hazardous to his health more than normal then yes you should retire his health comes first yes I will miss seeing him as a fan watching him Russell watching him do battle against other Warriors and entertaining with other Warriors and entertainers it would be really sucky to not see him anymore but also as a real fan and not a spectator his health has to come first for him and for us because he can still be who he is outside the ring behind the cameras in front of the cameras out in front of the public except just not in the ring
