How to Make a Small Forge Welded Tomahawk Out of A Farrier's Rasp

  • Today we'll be forging a small throwing tomahawk out of half of a farrier's rasp. After the last tomahawk build, I got a lot of suggestions for a throwing hawk with a socket. This is a little mouse hawk, great for small chopping tasks and throwing.
This is the fourth tomahawk I've forged welded and I'm still learning. It's been a lot of fun and I'm hoping to do more videos with forge welding and lamination.
    Thanks for watching and enjoy!

Like your work. I also like that your forging very nice knives, etc. using a chunk of mild steel as an anvil while everyone else on CZcams, that's forging knives, etc. swears that you must have a cast steel or forged steel anvil, or at a minimum, a piece of train rail. My anvil consist of a 140 lbs. base with a 50 lbs. chunk of cast iron fastened on top & it works very well. Keep up the good work!

No real modern day use but would be me end of days weapon of choice :) Rumored to be weapon of choice for plate armoured foot soldiers of old, used more as leverage to topple other armoured soldiers, then used to finish them off once they are down. love the channel, keep it up mate

Nick, very nice work! Hwever, I'd like to see updates on how well that forge weld holds up! I think if youuse it hard that the wled will let go and break apart! You did a VERY good job on the weld but, I do wish, for hard work's sake that you had welded it higher into the eye! Itwouldn't have taken much mote work to do it and you alreadyhave the mandrel and the know how!
PLEASE, post an update in a yearor so as to how it holds up and as to how hard you used it!
I'm an old Mountain Man reenactor and a Blacksmith that has become disabled with a rare disease that eats the cartilage from ALL my joints so, I can no longer do much forging! I hopeyou continue in the Blacksmithing of tools you need! Remember, Need a tool, Make it!
    Thanks for the video!
I'm going to attempt this myself to see how close to the eye I can get the weld and how it works with hard use! Nice throwing, BTW!

It would be freaking awesome if you did concept work on custom arrowheads and tested them out, kinda like how DemolitionRanch did with their shotgun shells.
I think everyone can agree with me that it would be cool as hell for you to kinda start a little "science" series where you forge and test out weapons from video games and tell us the pros and cons of such weapons and why they can or cannot be used in actual combat.
I'd watch the shit out of a show like that :O
