I have a pretty diverse game store, thankfully. And even though I don't always feel comfortable with how some people 'present' themselves, I have never had any real problems. In fact, when I first started playing and first discovered this store, I sensed intuitively that it was a no judgement zone, and that is what drew my friend and I to it. I will always feel uncomfortable around people who over-sexualize themselves (and there is always at least one person who is wearing too little clothing / very suggestive clothing), but I still try to treat them respectfully.
Sounds like a fun, chill place to game.
I'm more annoyed with the fact that we don't have an event in the South... One of the Magiccons that was canceled by Covid was Houston and they have yet to announce a make up or if they will ever come back here... Yeah, that's always going to be a tough thing. And as the events get larger they need even more space, so booking starts to be a bigger issue. But you never know. There's a chance for next year.
At least there have still be Starcity events and CommandFests in the Dallas area. More than what a lot of places have gotten.
as usual a lot of folks I think are making mountain out of a mole hill. With mtg being the consistent winner, they'll keep making tons of product to move and keep those revenues in. They'll surely tax it and use that money for other programs, as one does. The sets will end up being more hit and miss (time spiral remastered, anyone?) in terms of value so that will upset a lot of die hard collectors. However, the good thing that's coming out of it is that there are so so so so many budget cards with all the versions of so many cards. It's a great time to collect to play, but it'll be a rough market for people trying to buy to sell. The good thing I've seen is that the Play packs are very good, prerelease was a blast, draft looks fun for OTJ, and I'm seeing a lot more buyin events at the stores in my town. One store even felt so good about the prerelease they built a sealed league to play for the next couple of months. Really need ideas and right where they should be -- a fun product with fun interactions in the store.
My store is too small for a sealed league, in that most people just play commander (so getting anything outside of commander going, like a sealed league, is difficult). But that sounds like a blast!
Final Fantasy will give LotR a run for its money, but I just looked it up and it is another year away still :/
