    If they do this expansion I think they should add another Walt Disney World railroad station to give an alternate way to either enter the COCO land or Encanto land and give guests a way to enter the expansion without having to walk there. Also if they do this expansion it would be a great time to add a Haunted Mansion restaurant.

      @EagleRyan14 Před rokem +20

      This is a great idea! I’d say probably the Encanto land since it’s further from Frontierland and can provide secondary access to Liberty Square and the west side of Fantasyland.

    Walt Disney himself was smart enough to not create any land connected to one specific film or animated feature. He created lands of Adventure, Fantasy, Frontier and Tomorrow. Even a New Orleans quarter. All places where you can put any character in any adventure imagined, without the danger of became outdated. Imagineers should research the ideas of the Old Master and follow his advises. The Man knew how to build a Dream!

  • @loganhuey1868
    @loganhuey1868 Před rokem +91

    I think it’d make more sense for a villains land to be connected to new fantasy land (which is the fantasyland forest) and have the villains area be like the dark forest, almost an expansion of fantasy land but still it’s own separate thing. Then it could connect to the other side at haunted mansion. I do like the idea of a new rivers of America like in Disneyland but I also hadn’t considered shortening the river.

    • @michaeltaylor1603
      @michaeltaylor1603 Před rokem +7

      Oh! I love the transitional idea you have in going into the dark forest. If done properly, this could really give the park a shot in the arm. Maybe D23 DID have something there we missed, or couldn't see past smoke n mirrors?

    • @anthonypecorara

    • @guidedmeditation2396
      @guidedmeditation2396 Před rokem +1

      Very good point Logan. Also it would help balance out crowds in the park. This would also open up space for yet another land beyond Big Thunder Railway for yet another IP. How about a land for all the race swapped characters both the before and after? So fans can do meet and greets and enjoy mingling with their favorites.

    I guess I dont understand why Disney would make those new lands so specific to a couple of movies that I feel are not that well known by the average person. I can see rides themed from those movies, but not an entire land. I dont think it makes a lot of sense. It will be outdated by the time the lands are built.

    I really hope that if they include all three proposed ideas, they make the two IP based ones (Coco and Encanto) part of Frontierland rather than their own lands. I don't know how you'd justify Encanto (the only current land that an Encanto ride would fit in is Adventureland, and maybe Fantasyland), but I could see Coco easily fitting under the Frontierland umbrella, since the Wild West is heavily tied to Mexico. I really would hate for it to be a Disneyland Galaxy's Edge scenario were its a land with only one IP in a park where all the other lands are general themes with multiple IPs fitting in them. Adding two new lands based on one specific IP would taint cohesion of the park, in my opinion. The Villains Land is fine since it's also a general theme that could fit numerous IP, fitting well with the other lands.

  • @stephenfreitas8546
    @stephenfreitas8546 Před rokem +5

    Jack, I think it makes more sense for Disney to reclaim part of Rivers of America as you suggest mostly for Coco and Encanto. Then, wrap the Villains Kingdom around the back of Fantasyland. There needs to be access to the VK from Fantasyland as thematically, the VK aligns with Fantasyland and its stories while Coco and Encanto align with Frontierland.

    I wish they would focus the MK expansion on Villain’s Kingdom. The Mexican pavilion in Epcot should get Coco, and Dinoland in AK should become South America, including Encanto. Part of it could also be Moana.

    • @WMFilms25
      @WMFilms25 Před rokem

      These all make a lot more sense than cramming them in one spot behind BTM. Villains Kingdom is the only one at home here while the two feel disjointed. You can fit Encanto at Animal Kingdom with the South America theme just with Antonio’s gift of talking to animals alone and have the rest of SA include more original, immersive animal experiences since there are so many other countries and animals to include. No Moana, save that for a future expansion elsewhere (idk where, don’t ask, maybe 5th gate if that’s even true). Coco can find its home where Mexico already exists at Epcot, just get ride of the Anna and Elsa meet & greet and make a larger footprint for the ride to go in. Or just build behind it, plenty of room, like they’d get rid of anything Frozen.

    I have to think that relocating the restrooms between Small World and the Fantasyland wall would create a far more direct and desirable primary entrance to any new lands in that backlot area of the Magic Kingdom. You could likely keep the Pinocchio Village Haus Restaurant as there is plenty of room between the existing Fantasyland wall and other buildings. Building a deck over the entrance to the Utilidor tunnel entrance wouldn't be difficult at all. In fact, those service tunnels could then be extended under the new lands as well. Most of the backstage buildings in that area are minor and we saw far more significant transplantation of services at Galaxy's Edge. Continuing the primary spine of the park with new Utilidors for services just seems more logical when compared to the very long rout around the Haunted Mansion with far less interruption of existing attractions.

It's easy to get overprotective towards a park that's so... basically perfect, haha, but I think with the change of Splash Mtn, a retheme is absolutely necessary, and why not use that as an opportunity to grow, change, and introduce new ideas to the park! No, put COCO in Epcot inside the Mexico pavilion and put something else in MK. The Mexico pavilion all done up to look like day of the dead celebration with glowing leafs everywhere would be amazing and then having the Three Caballeros take you into the land of the dead would be amazing - its a total waste of space to build a whole new section dedicated to COCO when the perfect location already exists! Not to mention look at Frozen in Norway, it took a 5 minute wait and turned it into a 1-2 hour wait, COCO could do the same and eat up a bunch of capacity and help keep other wait times down.

It would also mean that guests could catch the train at the front of the park and ride it to the new lands, saving a lot of walking in the process.
    Iger also mentioned spending 1.7 billion over the next 10 years. So it's possible they don't expect the project to be completed until 2033.

In addition to walkways, I see no reason why the railroad would not be extended to circle around all 3 new lands with a stop or two for disembarking and loading. I also see no reason why the Liberty Belle riverboat wouldn’t have a second dock right in front of the three new lands. I do hope they reroute the river as you explained to open additional land near the haunted mansion. Additionally I’m for replacing Tom Sawyer Island with Tiana’s Restaurant or Neverland and connect the island to the mainland with arched walkways that the Liberty Belle could pass under.

    First video I've watched and I really appreciate the detailed level of your insight. From my POV, from a theming perspective I would rather they incorporate Encanto into Adventureland, and move Coco to the spot along the River. This allows Coco to be part of Frontierland and is in keeping with the western expansion theme of the area. It also frees up the massive expansion area for Villians, which lets be honest, a Villians land the size of Fantasyland has the potential to be EPIC! Is there room in Adventureland for an Encanto attraction?

    My opinion is still. Magic Kingdom is a family park. I don’t see young children and general public asking for Magic Kingdom to become Dark Kingdom by adding a section based on villains in the back of the park. Who is asking for Villains land? Disney adults.That’s a whole different target group. One that fits the same category in the type of entertainment that Universal offers. I say put Encanto, Coco then make a duplication of the Cars Radiator Springs attraction at California Adventure to tie up the theme at the back of Magic Kingdom. Then build a Villain park to compete with what’s Universal is doing with their Epic overhaul.

    Makes sense with reclaiming the land - and some of the extra space could be used as a Haunted Mansion themed restaurant. Hopefully they also re-route the train and add a new station.

    Man this expansion is so hard to think about at this point. The ambitions are incredibly high but the timing and the price is very difficult.

    Great video Jack! Personally as much as I like the idea of Encanto and coco, I really would like to see more of an expansion for Frontier Land. I think it would be great to get a dark ride based on the Western River Expedition. As for the Villain area, I’m hoping most of the focus of this space goes towards that, specifically with the introduction of a new Official Mountain of the magic kingdom, as we lost splash with the renaming of Tiana’s Bayou adventure.

      If they remove the cast member area on the other side of the path to this newly expanded area, they could easily bring the never-built Western River Expansion and create a more scenic walking path with the additional mountain.

    I think they should do just a villains land for all the 17 acres, because they are the answer to Universal’s Epic Universe with the Rumored Monster Land area if executed right. Think of the story they can come up with about the Villains Land like it’s Magic Kingdom’s equivalent to Mordor from Lord of the Rings. Don’t get me wrong I love Coco and while I think Encanto is ok, I think the Villains are more popular choice than those two.

    • @stevepage4504
      @stevepage4504 Před rokem +1

      Disney have to get villains land right and get it done soon there not just competing with what Epic universe is going to be intially. Epic universe is only the start of universals big plans they still have Pokémon and Lord of the rings rights up their sleeve. You imagine Disney announce villains land to big fanfare then take 5 years to build it and it's lame with just couple of attractions and universal respond by building a Massive lords of rings land with Mordor, the shire and hells deep with 4/5 world class attractions on the massive expansion plot at epic, getting it build and opened Before villains land despite starting year or so later.

    Independently, I love the idea of Encanto, Coco, and a Villains area. The first two IPs are packed with beautiful songs and visually stunning settings, and would be great additions. Likewise, a Villains area is something many people have clamored for for years. My big issue comes with just how these three would be integrated into the park without ruining its current immersion which is neat and purposeful.
    Magic is laid out perfectly with each land having proper theming. I worry cramming these three areas together will feel disjointed and lack cohesion. For me, a Latin America/mystical area at Animal Kingdom would've been the ideal place to put Coco and Encanto themed areas next to each other. Then, leave the beyond thunder area for a larger villains section complete with a second "dark" castle to serve as the juxtaposition to the landmark of Cinderella in the front.

    • @WMFilms25
      @WMFilms25 Před rokem +2

      Yes I agree. Moana doesn’t fit in at all in Animal Kingdom and while using IP is getting kinda exhausting, Coco is a much better fit if they did mystical, land of the dead animals (but the ride maybe too similar to Flight of Passage) to keep the animal theme going. Encanto should go to Epcot’s World Pavilion as a mini-Columbia pavilion maybe next to Mexico (there’s no room for Coco here either). Villains Kingdom is the only thing that for sure should stay at MK and it could be enormous and they need that kind of space to meet the demand this would generate.

    • @twoblacklabs904
      @twoblacklabs904 Před rokem

      @@WMFilms25 … agreed. IP themed attractions must fit into a “Land.” Coco & Encanto are better suited for Epcot, now that they’ve trashed Walt’s original concept in that park.
      Creating Villains Kingdom will take a huge plot of segregated property, and that “Beyond Big Thunder plot” is perfect for the standalone Villains expansion.

    • @xcoasterenthusiast
      @xcoasterenthusiast Před rokem

      I disagree about Coco and Encanto fitting in at Epcot. Though they are set in real life countries, World Showcase should be about the realism side of the world and not stuff in IPs which is also why Frozen should have been at Fantasyland. Although Ratatouille at least is more true to actual French culture.
      I would argue that Moana could fit in at Animal Kingdom though as the park’s themes are on animal problems and the preservation on wildlife and the film itself does focus on these 2 themes.

    Happy anniversary Jack, pretty wild to think I've been watching you for that long. Hell, I never used CZcams before I found your channel!
    I like your idea of shortening that longer path and putting the Encanto village there... BUT I think on the 17 acre plot they should solely go with the Villain Kingdom, and put an e-ticket attraction in the Mexico pavilion for CoCo... Something akin to the ET attraction at universal\Peter pan\and flight of passage as a swinging dark coaster where you're riding the Alebrije... And stopping at different parts of the story. That way they're not recycling attraction technology to the T, but integrating multiple different systems... Maybe kinda like how you duck into those small rooms on MMRR.
    I think shoving all three lands into one area seems desperate and less than immersive.
    Congrats again and great job on another fantastic video! I'll be looking at a Patreon account too!

    I don't usually comment on posts of videos but a few days I was thinking how possible would be a expansion but that question was answer on this video which explain the possibilities made click and sense. I know that Coco and Encanto should be something for Epcot but if you compare the land to the other one of them is very limited to do so plus with the innovation to be finished don't have to much at the moment. This expansion at the Magic Kingdom works better. Congratulations on your 6 years.

    I'm worried that adding a new land to Magic Kingdom will be just like widening a major highway. That extra capacity could be saturated within a year or two, and Disney would still be stuck with the same problem of too many guests at their flagship park and not enough at Animal Kingdom or EPCOT. But if their strategy is getting most guests to spend 2 or 3 days at MK, 1 day at Studios, and another day at AK or EPCOT, it might pay off. Ultimately, Resorts are the big revenue generators, and a new land at MK without another Deluxe Resort only helps Epic Universe. Universal's in a great position to eat up a decent slice of Orlando's convention market, and Disney has to respond to that.

    In terms of your question, I honestly do think what you have in mind is a fairly solid layout...although, to be honest, I feel like the artwork actually goes Coco Land, Encanto Land, and THEN the Villains Land instead of having the Villains Land between Coco and Encanto because the artwork shows the Villains land to be in the very back of the artwork while Coco blends into Encanto so that the two Spanish-related properties (even if based on different Spanish-like cultures) can be next to each other while the scaryness of the Villains Land can be next to the Haunted Mansion.
