- Watch Blown Away Season 4 winner Morgan Peterson at work as part of her Blown Away Residency at the Corning Museum of Glass! In this demo, Peterson will work with members of the Hot Glass Team to expand upon her unique installation work, creating multiple exciting blown sculptural objects.
Morgan Peterson
Morgan Peterson graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a dual degree in 2006. Upon completion of her degrees, she relocated to Seattle, WA, to pursue a career and continue her education and advancement in the arts. Morgan has worked for many notable artists, including Buster Simpson and Bruce Mau, and is a full-time team member for Dale Chihuly. She is heavily involved with Pratt Fine Arts and Pilchuck Glass School, not only as a member of the staff but also as an instructor. Her work has developed inside and outside these industrial spaces into a unique system of metaphor and imagery based on themes of satire through pop culture and addiction.
Morgan was included in The Young Glass Exhibition, hosted by the Glasmuseet Ebeltoft, which is an international competition that only occurs once a decade. She has also participated in multiple group shows in 2019, including Pittsburgh Glass Center, The Habatat Invitational, CHROMA (Nashville, TN), Traver Gallery (Seattle, WA), REFRACT (Seattle’s Glass Art Fair), and the Irish Glass Biennale (Dublin). In 2020, Morgan exhibited a virtual solo show through Habatat in Royal Oak, MI. She completed her first solo exhibition at Method Gallery, Seattle, WA, in October 2021.

This judge especially hates that type of old-method/old-style bias where the things that look "expensive" are the ones like Ryan's. This is art and it must evolve. Ryan's work was fine but not particularly innovative. His failure was sticking with something he thought of ahead of time based on someone else's work. It ended up looking and being derivative. It was well made but that wasn't the task.

Time is always flowing. Styles are always changing. I think you might be stuck in the past. Old glass is beautiful and stunning, but don't undermine Morgan and her amazing technibility.
