Everyone: this used to scare me as a kid. Me: my great grandmother was a phone operator and she sounded just like the “the number you have dialed has been disconnected…“ lady.
dude, why is this so creepy? it freaks me out a bit too, lol. the beeps are a little uncanny, i suppose, maybe because they’re at an unusual set of intervals [Bb F A]. it could also be the influence of horror movies and ghost stories where someone gets a creepy call from a disconnected number, plus the unexpected nature of the message in general.
There are a few reasons why this is scary for no reason. 1. The number has been deleted forever, and you're call is going nowhere. 2. The person who owned the phone number is probably dead (very common)
This is what you put on your answering machine to get off of the autodiallers lists. Put this at the start of your message for the autodiallers and then your own message after it for legitimate callers and then don't answer your phone for a month. you will end all the telemarketers calls. It really works!
When i heard this for the first time as a kid, i thought phone numbers were little warriors and when this lady said “disconnected or out of service” i thought she meant to tell me the phone numbers have gone AWOL or died in combat
LOL, when I was a kid, I had a Speak N' Spell, and I thought there was a little man inside it, and when the batteries were wearing out I got scared because I thought the little man was going crazy.
@@vibrantgleam When I first saw a VHS tape (Yeah, I know, I'm old) I thought inside there were little people who acted the movie out every time we put them in, and I protested watching a movie again so the actors could get a break.
This just reminds me of my great grandmother who used to be a phone operator. Absolutely wild that when she was a kid they had party lines, and when she died she had an iPhone. It used to be that each house had a specific ring, and neighbors just assumed someone could be listening in or trusted that everyone on the line was polite enough to not pick up if a call was for another house.
it causes a sense of dread and unknowingness.. it is very uncanny and leaves you with the feeling of being alone because you can't connect to the other person on the end of the line, it feels really cold and creepy
Whatever made you decide to take a video of this back in 2003 or whenever it was? I'm glad you did, so now we can be nostalgic over the sounds we never hear anynore.
We're sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer if you fell that you being recording a error please check the number and try your call again.
I live in my country Spain, The same message and the three beeps 2 times sounded awful & it says "the number you have dialed is invalid, please check and try again"
This means that the user has not paid their phone bill, cancelled their cell service, or the building the number existed in has closed. If this happens then the phone line has been cut, thus the number being "Disconnected and is no longer in service".

Same also ringtones scare me to as well as amber alerts 😭😭😭
They feel uncanny and nostalgic, most of these were recorded in the late 70s or 80s
[Bb F Bb] not [Bb F A]
Probably because the person who has that number died
I agree with you bruh
Memories of getting this when trying trying call a childhood friend after many years... :(
The person recording this is Donna Banks who passed away in January 2019
Oof
How do you know that?
I thought it was Jane Barbe, actually.

I can believe it, the SIT tone sounds scary, so I wouldn't wanna be hearing that as a telemarker.

i have added this recording to my answering machine, and it has stopped robocall, as they think the number is not there anymore

I can't help but think something horrible has happened to the person when I hear this.
Oh. I expected a raging yell at the end. I braced for nothing 😩

it could be either. If you dial a wrong number you still have the possibility of connecting with a real number.
