That’s quite a stack! So excited to see what you finish! And so excited that you’re participating in Beaches & Books!!!! ❤
It is a stack for sure! WE'll see what happens!
I believe Sue said that, for really big books, as long as 400 pages of it is read during the event dates, it counts. It doesn't have to be read in its entirety. 👍
Oh yeah! So my books count! Sweet!
Seriously impressed that you’re able to fit so many challenges into one month! Also I didn’t know that Sanditon was a beach town. That’s really cool! So happy you are participating with us in Beaches and Books 😃
Welllllll We'll see if I actually do all this. 😆 I'll squeeze in as much as I can. I do have some home renovations and some travel happening in July so who knows what will actually be accomplished.
I remember enjoying Fahrenheit 451 when I read it in high school and have it on my shelf to reread sometime.
You are a step ahead of me! 😆
I really enjoyed Frankenstein, and I loved Around the World in 80 days too.
I’m planning on doing the beaches and books readathon as well.
Oh good! I'm sure I will like Frankenstein as well, even though the monster part does not appeal to me. The concept I find very intriguing, though. And I did enjoy Around the world in 80 Days. That's a fun book. I liked the movie, too, but they didn't really stick to the book much as I recall.
Underwater setting - Beneath the Surface by Lynn H. Blackburn.
Oh thanks!
You’ve got quite a plan. I hope you have a fun Jane Austin experience this month. 😊
So happy you're joining us this month for the Beaches and Books readathon! And yay For a Lifetime!
Yes! I'm enjoying it! I've crossed off a few already.
I'm planning to try and read Lady Susan, The Watsons, and Sanditon for Jane Austen July!
Awesome! I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on them .
Jane Austen at Home is so good. I loved the audiobook.
Fahrenheit 451 is great too. One of my favorites and so thought provoking!
This is a wonderfully ambitious TBR - good luck! I can’t wait to hear how you did.
It is definitely ambitious. We'll see what happens! And I've heard the same thing from many others about those two books so 🤞
Looks like a good summer reading. Best wishes.
Thank you! You too!
You surely have some 5*s in your pile of possibilities. I hope you find them and have a lovely reading month! 🌼
I think so! I think it will be a good month.
This is a masterclass in book planning! 😂
😆😆😆 It's my teacher-lesson-planning-skills being put to good use in another format. 😆😆😆
@@insearchofwonder lol! love it!
Awesome pile of possibilities! curious to hear your thoughts on A Most Agreeable Murder.
Haha! Coming up tomorrow!
So eager to hear your thoughts on Born of Gilded Mountains. Also, For a Lifetime! (It was my favorite, so far.)
Can't wait to read them both!
So many books to choose from, looking forward to hear how July went for you!! I'm starting Pride and Prejudice. I've never read Austen before...😮, only watched adaptations of many of them...
Oooohhhhh you'll love it! If you've seen the adaptations, I think you'll just really love the book. Can't wait to hear what you think about it!
I read Jane Austen At Home last year for JaneAustenJuly and really enjoyed it and think you will, too. Look forward to hearing your thoughts. Yeah, The Murder of Mr. Wickham was eh. I think I had set my expectations too high for that one. I do love Frankenstein! Lots of great discussion opportunities with that one.
Yes, I've heard mixed feelings about the Claudia Gray books. And the people who haven't liked it have similar taste to me (like you and Miriam)so I have a bad feeling. But I do want to try it.
I’m almost done with Born of Gilded Mountains and just loving it! I commented previously that I didn’t love the first book I ready by Amanda Dykes but this one is great!
Oh good to know! She's not for everybody, that's for sure, but I'm glad you liked this one. I'm getting excited to read it.
I’m having to keep myself from doing Jane Austen July this year 🙈I’m already trying to do a lot of other prompts but now that I know abt it I hope to plan to do it next year! Like you it hasn’t been very long since I reread all of her books so it’s probably for the best. 🤗 I am joining you in doing Beaches and books though
Yes, definitely plan for it next year. I think in the future I will save my JA reads for JAJ and read annotated versions since now I've read all of them at least twice. Unless I get a hankering for P&P or Emma in the meantime.... which totally happens! 😆
Looking forward to your thoughts on the Lucy Wirdley book, it has been on my radar for some time.
I'm expecting it to be good. We'll see!
I’m also doing the Read your shelf challenge ☺️I’ve never heard of Flower Fairies but I want to find it now.
I misspoke - it's actually Flower Fables. But some of the stories feature fairies (actually I think many of them do?) which is why I called it that accidentally.
@@insearchofwonder no worries - I could see myself doing the same thing! but thank you 🤗
I've been looking to get into more classics this year, and Frankenstein sounds interesting so I think I might try it on audio book! Also Mansfield Park is on my list! 😄
I've never read Frankenstein so we'll see how it goes! Mansfield Park I just read earlier this year, and I loved it so much. Anything by Austen I love. ❤️
@@insearchofwonder 💕
The Boys in the Boat would be great for sports. The narrator for the audiobook is good.
Oh I've heard really great things about that. Another good suggestion.
I think I want to read Frankenstein
If you want to join me and Tammy, just say the word!
This suggestion is probably too late, but Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea would be a good book for the underwater prompt.
Great suggestion!
I enjoyed Frankenstein...at least more than most of the other books I read for my master's. 🙄
I bet! I've heard not great things about English lit degrees and the reading requirements.
@@insearchofwonder Yeah.......I should have a video in August or so talking about everything I read!
You plan your cha;;ente tbrs a lot like I do. Submerged by Dani Pettrey has several underwater scenes if you haven’t read that one. It was my first by her and I read it earlier this year and enjoyed it.
Oh glad I'm not the only one who plans like this. LOL. I believe I have read Submerged and really liked it.
I liked Fahrenheit 451. I think i listened to the audio that Bradbury narrated himself.
Oh wow that's cool! My boys have read it for school but I have not read it yet. They both liked it.
You're going to be very busy this month lol
Haha ikr?!? We'll see how much of it actually happens....
The only adaptation of Mansfield Park that I like is the old BBC one (like 80s). The cinematography is HORRIBLE but they did a decent job of sticking to the story and showcasing the characters as Austen portrayed them.
Was just about to recommend this one! It's the only Mansfield Park adaptation I've liked. The others deviate too much for my liking. This one was done really well though. It was on Amazon Prime at one time, not sure if it still is or not.
Oh good because that's the one I plan to watch. I think I can get it through Amazon.
Thanks! I am looking forward to it.
Could Remarkably Bright Creatures work for the underwater setting? One of the main characters is an octopus who lives underwater and an aquarium is a frequent setting in the book. Another book that came to mind is The Island of Sea Women. I haven’t read that one.
Oh I'm sure that would work! Good suggestion.
Besides, Jane Austen at Home, what book about Jane Austen would you recommend?
Well, depends on what you're looking for. A fun biographical novel is Just Jane by Nancy Moser. A glimpse into her private life is fun with her letters (edited by Deirdre Le Faye). I read a biography of her by an author named G E Mitton that was originally published in 1905 and then reprinted by Barnes and Noble in 2007. It's called Jane Austen and Her Times. I think the Lucy Worsley one will be much better, but it was interesting to read as a classic biography. I also really enjoyed What Matters in Jane Austen by John Mullan, but that's more about her books than it is about her. And along the same lines, I also really enjoyed A Jane Austen Education by William Deresiewicz.
Because of Big Book Summer, I have noticed that recent Christian fiction publishers seem to be quite fond of a page count of around 384! 😭
IKR?!?!?!?! What is UP with that?!?!? 😆😆😆
The Giver is utopian... but I consider it dystopian and I hated it because it felt too much like real life or what some are trying to make real life to be.
I sort of feel like any utopian novel would end up dystopian. That's my thought anyway. Either that or it would be super boring. LOL
