    "Don't make excuses" - best advice ever.
    Fitness is well down the list of most preppers "preps", we hear lots of talk about bugging out, but most people have never even walked with a loaded rucksack, let alone carried it any distance.
    A better, fitter body will make getting through most potential SHTF situation a whole lot easier.
    One thing that you didn't mention was the productions of Endorphins that occur during exercise, often called the "happiness drug" - produced by the body when it is working hard, stressed or scared. It gives you that feeling of well being when you have just finished a stressful activity, like a strenuous walk or a workout and the feeling can last for several hours.
    Good video, looking forward to seeing more of this journey 💪🏼💪🏼

      I ended up editing out a bit about "runner's high" but yes, exercise makes people feel so good - and as another commenter mentioned, exercise can become quite addictive for that reason! Hopefully all those with bug out bags will make the time to practice carrying them haha.

    Well, this was an interesting video, a side of Eimear I had not realised existed. You possess an unassuming character, a quality I appreciate in a person. Your journey is very interesting, and I am glad you shared it. Fitness prep is very important, and it does need highlighting. We do not need to be going to the levels you enjoy, but pushing ourselves is a useful tool that will keep you in good stead during SHTF or just our daily lives. As you know, I have been going through a journey of my own. I am fitter, and my body is better for it. Spinal restriction is impairing growth in my legs, back, and stomach muscles, so any advice here would be appreciated. One thing concerns me, I do not believe it is just me that feels this way, however, I find myself becoming irritable when I don't exercise. Is there a fine line between exercise and addiction? Also, do you feel the same way? Kudos to you!

      Thanks Josh! Yes I'm well impressed with the efforts you've been going to to look after yourself. I'm sorry I'm not able to advise (as not qualified) but can only suggest trying a private physio or chiropractor for advice if it's within your budget. And I completely understand, I can feel a bit on edge or even down on my rest days, so find that gardening is a good alternative or just getting outside :)

    Super cut , very vascular with excellent definition. I don't think most appreciate just how much a life style choice or the effort and discipline it takes to get to that definition. Lowest I got was 14percent and that was even running clen on a cut , cracking effort.

      Takes crazy commitment but a fab challenge (mental and physical!) - yes def need to quiz you on your strength-training past, if you competed, etc.

    That moment in your 20s when your metabolism slows and you have to start considering diet and fitness isn't a fun one. I've never liked gym workouts, but I've found it important to push my effort on day to day work so that I can continue to stay in shape, do more and never be left short when it comes to practical stamina or capability. I've stayed fit, the one area I've dropped off is long distance running and similar exercise.

    • @StrivingforSelfSufficiency
      @StrivingforSelfSufficiency  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Finding the kind of exercise that makes you enjoy it can be helpful (if the gym doesn't do it for you). Fair play to you for sticking with it regardless. "Health is wealth" for sure!

      @@StrivingforSelfSufficiency There's an expression, "farm strong" for people in agriculture or similar whose labor keep them in shape. I enjoy physical activity, but it has to accomplish something beyond building me(otherwise I get bored and uninspired). I like activities like building and taming wilderness.

    Hi from the North East 😊. I used to be a really good runner 🏃‍♀️. I don't like the gym 😅. I have been physically unwell for about mmm let's see , since 2020 . I'm 58 and I'm just now getting more active. Slow and steady. Health and fitness are the most important things in preparation for anything. Obviously water 💧 and food goes without saying. My brother is super fit . Triathlete. Makes me sick 😫 🤒. 😆 🤣

      Sorry to hear about your ill health. Fair play to you for getting more active again - slow and steady is the right attitude to avoid any set-backs. Hahaha triathlons are very cool but I can't imagine how much you'd have to train for one of those!
