    I lived in Simi Valley for 3 years as a kid. I walked a few blocks to school and walked all over the city as a preteen all the time with nothing bad happening to me. I always loved riding my bike to and all around Corriganville park and the mountains down the road from there. Thank you for helping take me back to the early 2000s, I remember seeing those Cat In The Hat houses when they were filming.

    People must know about the Santa Susana Field Labroatory.
    "After a nuclear meltdown in 1959, the federal government and private contractors kept the disaster secret for decades while radioactive pollution remained on the site between the San Fernando and Simi Valleys. Pollution from rocket testing also contaminated the region’s soil, water and air, as featured in the MSNBC documentary “In the Dark of the Valley."
    Simi Valley is relatively safe to live in, but be wary of the south-eastern side, as well as neighboring cities around the field lab. Children develop rare cancers around this area all the time. My friends included. Stay safe.

      @@roxyfoxy0828 I am not a scientist, so I cannot say one way or another. The area being referred to here is a small area at the South-East edge of Simi Valley. Whether you feel comfortable living in that area would be up to you based on your own research of the area. The majority of Simi Valley is not affected by this however. Feel free to give me a call if you would like more information. Take care.

    Is there a downtown Simi Valley? I'm researching a move out west and looking on the map it looks like mostly residential and then chain stores. What makes Simi unique? What's the character of Simi?

    • @michaeltilford
      @michaeltilford  Před 2 lety

      Simi is mostly residential and shopping centers. There isn't a downtown, Tapo Canyon Rd would be the closest thing, but those are mostly chain stores. Simi is a safe city with good schools. It is more affordable than much of Western Ventura County. It borders to Los Angeles County, so despite the things it lacks, it is very close to an area that has everything, which is the appeal for a lot of people. If you would like a suggestion on a city that is more what you are looking for, feel free to give me a call.
