Smokey Robinson was one of my Soul R&B faves back in the 60's right from the time he and the Miracles had their first hit with Shop Around while I was a Senior in H.S. After that they had one great song after another and I and my friends loved them to death. In something like 64 I and some friends saw a Motown show at the Regal Theater in Chicago in which they were the main group.
Patti labelle, my favorite lady, gladis night and Luther Vandross Did a great job singing smokey Robinson song as 3 artist on stage ,and whoopi for the presenting the award.
This is and was the absolute BEST - it doesn't get any better than this - never has and never will! For those without a soul, please note that PATTI LIT up that stage and brought out the best in Gladys & Luther (not that they needed any help) ..........Loved when she kept saying SING! Incredible performance by three of the greatest of all time!
Rare good sangin....no auto tune, no pre recorded background singers...I can imagine what my family reunion will be if they were my sisters and brother...
