      I don't know how it is done specifically for this camera but you can reach these speeds for example with GDDR RAM which is used in graphics cards. With more specialized technology you can even reach hundreds of GB/s (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Bandwidth_Memory)

  • @Grymmorgan
    @Grymmorgan Před 9 lety +174

    ***** Isn't it _fascinating_ that all of the shatter points occurred in the "gravity-negative" dead zone between the 180 and 315 degree marks, and that two happened at the first mark, and two at the second?
    180 is the point at which gravity stops "helping" the downward spin and starts fighting the material as it changes direction.
    315 is the point at which gravity has done its maximum work pulling at the leading edge as it heaves up, away from the earth, and just before it starts getting some relief by "leaning" on the axel and "laying over" toward its downward fall.
    These forces are exquisitely fractional, but that 135 arc is where the maximum force of gravity creates a differential, the _slightest_ difference in force, magnified by the blistering spin, and is enough to finally work the molecular structure of the material apart in one specific place, setting off a chain reaction. That's not to say that the shatter point _couldn't_ happen elsewhere…but it's most likely to happen in this range, as this extraordinary set of videos demonstrates! :^D
    Thanks for the fun, gentlemen!

    • @RipleySawzen
      @RipleySawzen Před 9 lety +5

      Moehritz Bla
      The shatter point isn't based off gravity at all, rather, where the disk is bending the most.

    • @joshuamurphy1526
      @joshuamurphy1526 Před 9 lety +3

      RipleySawzen I think Grymmorgan's point was that gravity affects the way the disk bends, making it more likely for the shatter point to be within a certain range. Moehritz Bla's question was highlighting the fact that horizontally spinning the disk would set gravity's effect on the disk to be equal at all points, thus negating gravity's effect.

    • @RipleySawzen
      @RipleySawzen Před 9 lety +3

      Joshua Murphy
      The outside edge of the CD is experiencing over 35,000 times the force of gravity. Do you really think Earth's gravity is having any effect at all? It's less than 0.003% of the forces involved here.

    As an object spins, parts within or closer to the axis of the spin are technically moving faster than those further out, and are making smaller tighter rotations; which is part of where the distortion comes from. The shatter point comes from whatever point on the object has been the most subject to such velocity for the longest time (or just whatever part of the object is structurally the weakest), thus its the first to break and send a chain reaction along the rest of the object.
