Yeah, unfortunately.
It held the record until Series 23 (The first season without the original trio), and was overtaken by the McLaren 675LT (Which did a 1:13.7).
The Zonda R did it in 1:08 though?

I remember the reaction that the Atom got when it topped the board in 2011. The audience reacted like England had scored a World Cup winning goal. The reaction to the Huayra going fastest was somewhat muted, but only because I think the audience were simply stunned at that astonishing time.
To this day, I still cannot comprehend how quick this time is. Like I can't think of another lap time from a road legal car that thrashed the record as much as this did.

Hamdan Ali no not really. Mclaren was a track focused car. This was anything but that. Seeing that the Huayra still was thia fast is pretty astonishing
Hamdan Ali uhm no its not dummy. The track focused version is the BC, which will definitely shatter the 675LT's lap, but we arent talking about that. Huayra *is* Pagani's "hypercar", yes, but that doesnt mean they were even close to going full out on the performance (once they actually did do that though, the Zonda R came out). The main point of Huayra is blending art with aerodynamics. Its a piece of art on wheels, thats also aerodynamically efficient. Its a driver's car. And every little detail is made to be appreciated by whoever gets to look at it.
Also, dont bring price into this please. Pagani makes their cars by hand with the highest quality, most expensive materials. If you actually took all the bolts from the Huayra and sold them, you'd be able to get a high end car. Only from the bolts. You wont get anything like that in a Mclaren.
Hamdan Ali my goodness youre a fucking idiot. So, is a Koenigsegg Agera track focused? How about a Bugatti Veyron, or the Chiron? Hell, even the Hennessey Venom GT. Is that track focused as well? I bet all the cars that ive mentioned will eat your 675 LT on a track. Does that make them track focused? Do you even know what that means actually? Do these cars have massive wings, diffusers, splitters, skirts? *Nope.* one of them is a fucking Lotus with a big V8. but theyre still fast arent they? Same story with the Huayra. It doesnt have all these items to increase downforce, for the sake of cleanliness and straight line performance.
Furthermore, do you even know that the very same engine powering the Huayra can make at least 800 horsepower without any turbos whatsoever? Mind you, the Huayra has 720 horses with 2 turbos. This only hints to one thing and i hope youll get it Sherlock. Next time, come up with a proper argument, or im done with this conversation.

Things looked a tad shaky under brakes, if I had to nitpick, but overall a textbook lap.
The filmed footage was not the actual lap. Most of the time the video footage is done on demo runs.

I have no idea what you’re talking about, but it sounds authoritative, so I will concur!
@@tomgio1 you can literally hear the front of the car slam into the ground because the braking force and grip levels exceed the maximum pressure (weight) the suspension can take (as the forward momentum is being reduced from the brakes (lowest centre of gravity + unsprung weight), this forces the body of the car to want to bury itself, kind of like if you were pedaling max speed on a bike and then full braked, the bike will flip forward. It means the brakes are too good for the suspension.

Honestly I think the Stig pushed much harder in the 675LT than this one. Probably it was a McLaren works driver under that helmet.
Also the Top Gear track is also McLaren's home track if I'm correct and the car (675LT) was probably tested alot there during development.
Nothing surprising from a car that was TESTED there lol... But I'm more impresed by the Pagani as it doesn't have racing pedigree whatsoever.

He pushes super hard in this, it just looks entirely un-dramatic because this car is put together so fucking well. It never seems like it's about to lose control, like most super cars look around the track... and that's why it's the fastest.

I cant see this pagani faster on a screen compare to atom v8 but surprisingly the time recorded was faster.

also it isn´t a road car, they only test road cars. Same thing was with the Zonda R because it is racetrack only

It would be like asking them to bring back the Renault F1 car or the Buyable Lotus F1 thing with Street legal tyres. They are not cars that were designed to run on Street legal stuff, or they would come with them by default. By the way, the reason is very easy to guess. Ferrari won't allow it, because they know going from slicks to even the best road legal tyres you can get would make it lose at least 3 to 4 seconds.
Anshuman Malik because it can't get over speed bumps etc. Arbitrary rule they brought in at the time as it was so low and impractical despite being road legal.
There's always been a part of me thinking that they faked the result on this one, cuz the lap didn't look as quick as it turned out to be

Nico MG, I know who founded the company, that's why I said the name, or rather the person, is Argentinian, but everything else, i.e. the materials, the workforce, the factory, the technology and most importantly - the engine, are european and it's based near Modena, Italy. It's a similar case to Bugatti (french company, owned by VW, founded by an italian), Buick (american company, founded by a scottish immigrant), Tesla (american company, founded by a south-african/canadian) etc.

The lap time is too good considering the Huayra couldn't hold a candle to the hypercars or the 675LT on other tracks. You sure that 1:13 something wasn't a wrong reading of a 1:15? And were those tires standard or cut slicks?
Slicks
The Mclaren is much more modern and much more track focused, remember this isn't the track version, that will be the BC if I'm not mistaken. It was on regular tires I think, but there's some controversy with the tires it used.
@@kl75182 I heard it was on slicks with grooves cut into them. There's no way a Huayra can really pull off such a time. Salomondrin tested it against the 3 hypercars at Thermal and it was slower than all of them by several seconds.
