It's pretty neat that you were able to forgo using a roof rack. Considering the size of a lot of wedge-style roof top tents, there's practically no space left on a roof rack for additional cargo, so this is a nice rethink on the necessity of a rack.

      Yea for sure!

Originally, the roof strips were solid rubber but somewhere along the line they transitioned to hollow plastic mounted by a series of plastic clips on welded studs. Between the fixings there's a lot of lateral movement possible.
I seriously doubt making them load bearing is a good idea. I can see two things happening, one, the plastic rubs away at the paint finish, and two, the spot welded studs bend and eventually break.
      Happy to be proven wrong.
The rest of the items look great and looking forward to seeing them in production format.
Finally, wasn't there an idea to relocate the bumper wing radiators to some less vulnerable?

I'll take an aluminum brush at for sure! Weight is key on an overland rig. Can't wait!

Great solution for mounting the tent. I like the fact you are using the existing load capacity of the roof, upgrading the side bars and keeping everything low profile. The awning mount is the neatest I've seen as well. Good work 👍

Keep it up mate. This is a solid vehicle, and therefore a good start.

This is the most exciting and rugged setup I've seen for the grenadier.
Well thought out, over engineered and simple to use. Perfect.
Can't wait to see what's next.

That tent design sense is amazing with all the quick add-ons. Way cool!

I LOVE the look of the tent hanging off the back! It looks like a small spoiler. Killer!

Wow... easy 9 out of 10 on the look and build of this bar! Totally burly to match this beast. Large diameter looks great!

Great stuff. Portals, you hinted at extended range tank (?), etc. stuff I wanted to do on my 2002 GWagon, but they're all scarce, foreign sourced, expensive parts for a dying out vehicle. Looking at the Grenadier, if you make this stuff available will be much more appealing. Also I don't want mall cruising parts, want actual engineered function that works, Keep it coming!

  • @jackscorpion4334

Cool setup but my only issue and the same applies here in Oz is that all wedge style RTTs have their main entry in the rear so when you add a 270 awning it renders that rear entry useless. Then to enter the RTT you've got to go through a side window and most don't have adequate weather protection. I don't understand why manufacturers of RTTs aren't addressing this because the 270 awnings are fantastic. I like the look of the hoops on the factory bumper and your rock sliders.

Thank you for your feedback! Yes we have actually turned our tent around and then turned the front roof rack into a little deck!

NICE! With your Wedgie RTT and load bar tie points, have you found exterior molle panels that dont conflict with the tie points?

Awesome stuff! Thank you for bring up potential issues with a transitional lift. I don’t think this was addressed by anyone else.
Any potential for a front sway bar disconnect? I’d have no issues with a manual disconnect.

any plans to do a roof replacement like Alu-Cab is working on?

  • @artandsoundsociety5419
    @artandsoundsociety5419 Před měsícem

The question is if it’s a matter of weight, it’s not that big of a difference but if you keep adding stuff that is heavy and steal, it becomes an issue so then you would want aluminum if you think you’re gonna futuristically keep building on it but aluminum is the way to go no rust Leslie and you did a good job with the bumper looks bad ass how much is one Just raw no pain

my uncle got the quatermaster and we did a winter trip a couple weeks ago nothing to hard but there were alot of ice in the puddles some puddles were just up to the front bumper maybe 3/4 the way up the tyres the quatermaster was never the lead vehicle so didn't have to brake through the ice but it still got a lot of damage to the small grills on the wing of the factory bumper and the gray bash plate below the winch acted like a funnel and broke the mesh and left a lot of damage on the radiator i am sure the same thing will happen in thick mud holes not grate if you plan on using them on harder tracks.

Good info. I was afraid of this. I have a serious plan to mitigate this but may be more than a typical customer might be willing to do. I’ll do it on this later. Too many modifications too soon can be a Marketing quagmire .
