I am trying to choose either F or C, the thermometer is off and i press the the power button and all that is shown is 1888. I Laos cannot turn the b rep on, it hard to take your temperature by your self if you can’t turn the beep on IKFIT6500

To change the temperature scale on the ThermoScan, please make sure the thermometer is turned off, press and hold the power button, after about 3 seconds the display will show this sequence: °F / SET / °C / SET, release the Power button when the desired temperature scale is shown. There will be a short beep to confirm the new setting, then the thermometer is turned off automatically.
