    Thanks for the informative video. After mounting the toilet do you caulk around it?

    • @FixThisHouse
      @FixThisHouse  Před 3 lety +8

      That is a very controversial topic, for me personally I keep mine not caulked because I want to know if in the future there is a future leak, plus I do not want to have to scrape off the caulking when I need to replace the toilet in the future, but some caulk due to code so please check your code. Others caulk for aesthetics and to prevent gases or oder from escaping from the flange. I hope this helps. 🙏🏽

    Good information.
    The research I have been able to do suggests the toilet flange be placed on top of the finished floor- do not cut the floor around the flange? So this video would be inaccurate.
    You would need to have the flange raised and slide the vinyl floor under the flange to achieve proper height of the flange for proper seal using a wax ring.

    • @GreatDataVideos
      @GreatDataVideos Před 2 lety +2

    • @FixThisHouse

      For wood subfloor, a moisture barrier is unnecessary, but underlayment can provide cushion, plus these already have built in underlayment cushion, be careful some brand will void the warranty if underlayment is installed, just make sure you follow the manufacturers manual.
      When installing vinyl plank flooring over existing floor materials, underlayment may not be required, but it can help with cushioning and sound reduction
