Beautiful ending of my all time favorite show! I stayed until the end, although it was hard to watch after Marcy Walker left and so many new or recast characters dominated SB. I love the final song, beautiful... And the last shot of Paul Rauch's cigar didn't bother me at all.
I loved this show and I was so disappointed when it ended. I think that A Martinez and Marcy Walker shouldve been in this video. I dont know why they werent. They were the show and they shouldve showed them together at the end of this video
I loved very much Santa Barbara that I have seen on italian television RAI 2 . All actors were been beautiful and I remember very well the character of BJ that was maken by Sydney Penny and Ive not forgotten Nicolas Coster and many many others . Today i'd like to see her again but it's impossible .
I still remember this so well, sobbing the whole way through. Utter class and a fine tribute to the cast AND crew, until Rauch ruined it in the final shot.

The crazy thing about Kim Zimmer is that she left GL in 1990 to move to the west coast to pursue Hollywood. She ended up back on a soap when Hollywood didn't pan out. Guiding Light got so much better without her character dominating the screen.

Lauren Mills You are right. When Kim Zimmer left in 1990, GL was at its best. The years that followed were the show’s golden years and it went through a transformation and renaissance period. It became a true ensemble with story spread out equally among the entire cast and the stories were more grounded and true to life. Then when the show decided to bring Zimmer back, it was back to Reva and all the stupid storylines that followed that revolves around her. Looking back, the character of Reva brought a lot of embarrassment to GL following her ‘95 return with the idiotic and stupid storylines written for the character, aside from the Reva/Josh/Annie triangle which was phenomenal.
I had read about the EP grinding out his cigar with his shoe, but never seen it until now. That was so hilarious, though I'm sure I'd be pissed off if, say, Brian Frons did something similar during the final shot of AMC.

This show was an emmy and SOD leader from 87 - 90 but the lawsuits hurt them...but the reason the show was cancelled? 2 reasons....MARCY WALKER and A MARTINEZ left.....that was why...had they not left they would have been on much longer...and just as popular.
Cruz&Eden Castillo Santa Barbara ratings were never that strong starting out, but I honestly and truly believe that Eden gets raped by her doctor took them on a downward spiral that they couldn’t come back from.

I wasn't surprised about the cancelation. The show was always on the bottom of the ratings. They also had lawsuits do to the Dobsons and the network. They couldn't compete with General Hospital and Guiding Light. NBC has never had any success with the exception of Day of Our Lives and Another World. No new soaps on that network have ever made it remember Passions the dumbest show ever made.
The 90s were the decade that NBC killed their entire daytime schedule. Another World was cancelled in 1999. Replacing popular game shows like wheel of fortune, scrabble and super password white substandard shows evantually caused nbc to replaced the game show block with expanded hours of the today show.
This show was gold under the Dobson's .when they left it was ruined folks this was not the sb that the critics and fans loved the last few years were a boring unrecognisable mess .to add even more insult it became the Reva Frisco hour I never seen a show nosedive so bad when I think of SB I think ,1984 to ,1988 I want to forget the rest ever happened!! And yes the Dobson's came back near the end but it was too late they didn't have enuf time to fix it

Guiding Light took a nose dive when it became the reva hour. From late 1990-1994 when reva wasn't on GL, GL was fantastic!
I loved gl thru 1997. Loved hart/dinah n jesse/Michelle.
