I've been a long time Fire Tablet and Kindle user. My tablets have never been more than a media consumption device for me. I currently have a 2019 HD10 (which after gift cards, credits, sales, and a trade in, I paid less than $20 for new) that resides in my kitchen for watching content while I cook or, I use it to display recipes. If I need to do something more intensive, I have my Pixelbook Go or Pixel 7a. And for true productivity, I have a Macbook Air M2. I've never used a case on my HD10, and it's been dropped repeatedly (even has a crack on the corner) but runs pretty flawlessly (if not a little slow at times). I love this tablet for travel also, as I'm just not as concerning about it like I would be an iPad (which I don't love, and I do have the current Mini). I really love the idea of this new 11, but for me I don't know that I can justify even a discounted price. But, I think this is a step in a great direction for Amazon Fire Tablets.

The side loading should be doable for anyone and I mean ANYONE that has the basic skills to even look on youtube to find this video🤣

yeah it's really been made pretty simple to do the sideload over the years. 100% worth it.
You can still side load the Google Play Store/services, directly from the device, but the best way now days, to also get even more options/to be able to get rid of bloatware/ads/to get a custom launcher and to really take back control over your settings/device, is the Fire Toolbox application, which is an application you can get on your computer, that developers use, you also need to turn on USB debugging and I would also unlock developer options as well, which will also give you accsess to animations, to speed up devices.

I have The 2021 Fire HD 10 that I love and use all the time. Iremoved the ads and side loaded Google apps as well as installing a memory card. I am considering the upgrade and will wait until Prime day. Thank you so much for your video that was very informative. Yes there are some limitations but for the price I think it is still worth the money, especially if you get it on sale😊

Sideload of the play store for the Max 11 is not listed in the link for which files to use. I'm sure that better info will be available later. Perhaps it's the same as the Fire 10. I have not received my new Fire Max 11 yet and so after I get it I'll figure it out.

I mostly use mine for reading . the bigger screen is nice for my older eyes. So I love it . if I want to something more serious I can use the laptop. And I don't really look at the adds. But i am curious what it looks like without them ?
If you're referring to what it looks like without the ads. You just wouldn't see any ads on the lock screen, you would just see the time, and any notifications that came in. And you could just swipe open the tablet from there. Sorry I don't have a way to show you, but it's similar to a phone lock screen. No ads. Just your notifications.

I bought the FIRE HD 10 2021 for 75. I stripped all the Amazon apps including advertise screen and install google play store. It is very close to pure vanilla anroid, smooth as silk.
If you want to use this as a Kindle reader also, this is also a major factor in its favor.
Question why are you so down? On the Samsung Galaxy tab A8? I have the Samsung Galaxy tab A8 10.5 screen with 128GB and with 4GB have no problems with it or doing things I play Xbox game pass with no problems
Not down on it at all. Check my more recent video on it actually. I said a lot of great things about it. I was simply comparing this tablet to it and stating that it's better in multiple areas. It technically has a better screen and a better processor. But obviously it has a lot more limitations. So if you don't like those limitations, or if you have a higher gigabyte version of the tab a8, it's a good option. But the S6 Lite is just a little more expensive with an spen and a better processor. So it's a great option for those who don't need an s pen. But it's not perfect. But I highly recommend it still

Can’t you just go through the steps to add the Google play store? I’ve seen a few videos on that.
It is what it is. I have a one for kindle books and other occasional app use. I also have an iPad and it is not comparable to an Amazon tablet, I did not expect it to be. But it is a very cheap, very usable and works well with Alexa, my Blink camera security system, BBC iPlayer, BBC Sounds etc. I have got used to ignoring the adds.
Worst case just pay the extra money through amazon, you can chat with them and fix it.

This is for Amazon consumption: Kindle ebooks, Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Music, etc. It is not a tablet computer like an iPad. I love the Fire for what it is and use my iPad for everything else. Period.

I think this will work well for me. I just need something to play media, do some web browsing, and read my books on. I also like that I can use it as an Echo.

I mean that I downloaded the youtube.com app and 1080p videos were only showing up in 720p. I used the browser to go to CZcams and it was also only showing up in 720p. I'm not sure why but I still wanted to share
@@AndroidDigest Odd, Iuse the browser for CZcams on my Fire HD 10 (2021) and get 1080 when it's applicable on a video. The browser is light years better in my opinion because there are FAR less ads.

It can do more than 720p on CZcams. I actually can do 1440p 60fps on my Fire Max 11. Granted it does push the CPU to the limit but it does do 1440p 60 fps with little to lag/buffering. The problem is that YT doesn't use hardware acceleration in most browsers mobile or not. If YT took full advantage of the hardware it would stream 1440p as easily as 720p.
I'm not sure where you're getting that. All of the videos I were playing only worked in 720p. I'm pretty sure I tried both in the silk browser and in the youtube app. But can't remember.
Try changing the resolution on YT videos themselves manually. YT defaults to automatically setting your video resolution and it isn't always the best your hardware is capable of. After you manually set the resolution then select "stats for nerds" in the sub menu in the video itself. The "stats for nerds" will back up my assertion.
It's cool mine will be here Monday I bought it to watch CZcams and Browse social media that's Screen is real nice I don't care about ads and I'm an Android user I gotta S23 Ultra and a Tab S8

I had my fire 11 max for all of 8 hours. I bought it to complete work on the go. My work is web based, so I do have the Outlook, Microsoft 360; and I did download the Google Play store. I love this tablet because I live in the city and I needed something that could be thrown around and stolen. I do have an iPad but I barely use it. I'm afraid to take it out and about because I might either lose it or break it.
But can you use gmail and google drive?

@@AndroidDigest I'm no longer satisfied with my tablet. This week, all the apps, including Amazon, have been constantly crashing, and it's getting on my nerves. Surprisingly, I can still return it outside of the 15-day window period.
Without Google services, this tablet feels pretty useless. Plus, Microsoft Office web apps don't play nice on non-computer devices.
Honestly, it's like a well-crafted paperweight right now. Oddly enough, I find myself liking the screen and size of the tablet more than my iPad Air (2022) in many cases.
It's a shame, though, because I can't find an affordable tablet with a dedicated keyboard like this one.
Oh yeah I had to factory reset the device to stop the apps from crashing. I wonder if this is because the Amazon Play store was updated and it realized I side loaded apps.
Final verdict, if you're just going to play around on it watch TV and browse the internet. It's an okay device. However if you really want to work from it it is not a good device. As a ram is really low and after you're on your third application task it will close out the other apps or restart them.

Well they just had it for a ridiculously low price on prime day. I don't know if it will go much lower than that
Probably not. But it's on sale now for $139. Another option is to buy their certified refurbished' one for $120. If you are hell bent on finding one under $100, there is a Ebay seller who sells Brand new Max Fire tablets for $30 USD. The downside is, it's being shipped from China and u may not get it until Oct 2024. So if u don't mind the wait - there u go. :)

For aprox same price Samsung A9+ Wifi tablet. You get full Google Play Store and it works and looks beautifully.
Right. When the A9+ wasn't out, it was a little bit different. Now the A9+ is a much better deal in my opinion.

Not quite the same price - Amzn Max Fire is on sale now for $139. Samsung A9+ is $178. Other specs very comparable. And it's super easy to upload Goog Play Store to Max 11. Max 11 is a better fit for me due to price point, Amzn Kindle Reader, Prime Videos, etc....
I have always found Amazon tablets to be quite reliable machines. I still have a fully working and charging 2012 model kindle fire hd 7 (code name Tate).
I also bought both an Apple and Android tablets within a year of buying the Kindle Fire HD 7.
Of the three here in 2023 only the kindle fire hd 7 is still working. Both the Apple and Android tablets have long since gone to the rubbish tip. And both the Apple and Android tablets were more expensive machines to buy. In my own experience of using Amazon, Apple and Android tablets. Amazon have been the most reliable followed by Android and Apple has been the least reliable machines. Whilst Apple was the most expensive followed by Android and Amazon was the least expensive. Strangely enough the most expensive Amazon tablet i bought was also the only Amazon tablet that stopped working properly. That went to the rubbish tip last year.

I'm glad you mentioned that. Far too many people are going around saying that iPads will last forever and I have always known that to be rubbish. I had two of the earlier generation iPads, where one just stopped working, and the other had a screen that got so out of sync that it became unbearable to continue using it. Apple told me that I had to buy a new tablet since it was likely that the circuit board was causing the issue. I would have been a fool to spend that kind of money again. I had one of the original Kindle Fire 7 tablets that lasted many years. The only reason I don't still have it is because I finally traded it in for a discount on a Fire HD 8 Plus. But I still have my original Kindle for reading books, and my HD 8 has great battery life. With this Fire Max 11 going on sale for Prime day at $149.99, I have to splurge and buy it. It's too good to pass up.
@@AlexanderNevermind888The still-current generation Fire HD 10 hasn't been updated to the newest software. If your device lasts forever that's great but if it doesn't have the support it's not that great.
@@morganbrd The beauty is that the majority of tablets, including my Amazon Fire tablets, are primarily for consumption or entertainment. You don't need the latest update to watch Amazon Prime shows or to play Solitaire or other games. It's why I saw no other reason to spend tons of money on another iPad. I was given an iPad Pro for free via my college, but still, it's really only used for consumption and to entertain. I have a Samsung S7 Plus which gives me the option of split-screen and makes a more than useful productivity device. The only thing I don't have is the ability to have as many VMs as I use on my Windows desktop. I don't think all the power of the iPad Pros are worth the money. Benchmarks don't translate into real world use. The benchmark power of my iPad Pro has yet to be of any use to me if my Kindle Fire or Samsung S7 Plus can open up the Washington Post just as fast for hundreds dollars less. Updates won't fix that. That's a common usage dynamic that doesn't require tons of power. And to be honest, I don't care what anyone or the benchmarks say, there's only a small percentage of people using their iPad Pros for video editing. That's not something that the common user will ever need.
Similar experience here...I have 4 Kindles from Fire 7 (3rd Generation) up to Max 11 (13th Generation). Most I've bought 'used' from Ebay and to this day, they still operate very well. Very durable durable products.
The thing is, this has the same chip as the fire 10 and the same amount of RAM. But you lose the headphone jack (and unlike the 10-in variant, there's no option for wireless charging). I understand people might prefer an 11-in model but that's a huge jump in price when you can get the 10-in model for 80 bucks pretty easily. Once you factor in the 11-inch model with a keyboard bundle, you probably have enough money to grab a Lenovo duet 5 or 3.
I will be interested to see what kind of discounts are available for this product but at over $300 with the keyboard bundle, I do not think it's particularly good value. You can get an open box duet 5. 8 GB of RAM, much more robust operating system, OLED screen for 300 bucks today.

The Fire HD10/HD10+ have the same processor, the Max 11 has an upgraded processer. The HD10 has 3g of RAM while the HD10+ and Max 11 have 4. So the Max has the best processor and RAM combo of the three. Info pulled from the GSMArena compare page.

I would love to get the Max 11 but I just couldn't live without the Google Play Store (I miss the days where you could wipe the Fire tablets and install real Android) and I don't want to risk not being able to get apps I need. Also I don't need any power, I just want an Android tablet to install sketchy apps that are probably stealing all my personal data and spying on me. I literally just bought an Android 13 10" tablet for $58. I already have a burner GMail account for Google Play Store, I use a virtual credit card I turn off immediately, I'll tape over the front cam, and I will have zero real personal info on the tablet.
Yeah. There's a way to get the play store on. But it does take a little bit of work. Sometimes it's easier to get another tablet

Unfortunately I don't have it anymore to check if it's in the App store. I know you can technically download the Amazon app store onto any Android phone though, so that's one way to check. Maybe you can Google Amazon app store and look through the apps online too. That's another way to check

Can't you just download a APK
You can't just download an apk. You have to download like two or three other things as well to make it work. Basically you have to download an APK and a few other services that communicate with the Google servers. So it's honestly not that much work but for a normal person they may not want to go through with the extra work or they may feel like it's unsecure. But for a techie it's a great option

I don't blame you. It's based on Android, but the restrictions are a pain.
It's Android 11 with an Amazon custom skin. You CAN find more basic-android skins to apply. Would have been nice if they used a newer version of Android, but I'm very happy overall.
How well does Roblox run on this tablet?
I'm not sure. Honestly I think it will run well. I'm not sure if it's just in the amazon app store or not, their website claims it should run on the os, so I'm assuming it runs through the app store. But it has enough power to run okay.

@@AndroidDigestAll Fire tablets receive 4 years of updates and security patching from the last date the device is officially sold on the Amazon website. This means the Fire HD 10 (2021) I presently use will be supposed until at least 2027. Honestly it doesn't get that much better than that. This policy is in writing through Amazon. Support is a non issue. In fact it beats all other Android like tablets.

I honestly cant stand the fire tablets anymore. Amazon has become so intrusive with ads and sponsored content on various devices. Ive had 4 fire tablets and now im moving on. Echo shows are worthless also. I use one as a clock on my night stand. So much stuff pops up on the screen even though I have it all turnes off. Bye bye Amazon.
